Isn't when you get the "goldbricking" discussion? Could be wrong. Havne't played ME1 in a while and on the run I started last night... I haven't made it that far yet. I'm a spacer... so I'll let ya know.

Well just arrived on the citadel.

I like her after Eden Prime convo.

Its clear shes digging you but thats not what I got from it.

She seems to be unsure bout her self in many way, mostly her importance on the Normandy. Maybe she feels like shes in Shepards shadow and must do something to impress him to earn her keep, to prove shes wort something. Only then she finds out that Shepard accepts her for herself, talents, looks, everything (paragon) So she lets down her guard and we see a more accepting person, that she IS the best she can be.

Yes all this from one convo, maybe I'm reading to much into things.

I sometimes feel Ash had done more than my Shep. My Shep is just the guy who survived. I feel like the only reason my Shep is a Spectre is because his last name isn't Williams. But hey that is just my Shep.

I meant on two different levels, yes Shep and Miranda are both equals, on a leadership level.

But idk, Shep and Ashley seem to kinda "fit"

That's how I saw it as well. The main reason I always chose Ashley instead of Liara was because Liara always gave off a damsel in distress vibe and I just felt that given Shepard's reputation as galaxy savior, he needs a woman who can fight alongside him on equal ground instead of someone he needs to protect.
And to me, Ashley had that.

Of course, my Shepard will always be worried for Ashley's safety, but she's still very independant and capable and strong and kickass on her own terms. Plus the fact that she isn't getting stars in her eyes the second she gazes at Shepard and nodding in agreement with everything he says like a puppet.
Here she actually talks back, challenges him, dares to disagree. Sometimes they get into arguments, but the fact that she's strong on her own terms, doesn't keep asking Shepard for help and advice and has to be argued with constantly helps make her feel like a real person.

The fact that she's hot as hell, combined with the fact that she's awesome and hilarious, help add to that. But in essence it was her challenging nature that really got me hooked. It's pretty rare in games to see a female love interest for the player presented as someone who you weren't expected to agree with all the time, and of whom existed for reasons beyond just eye candy.

As it stands, the reason why I can only really imagine Shepard with Ashley (maybe with Jack on occassion) is the same reason I refuse to accept any other love interest for Batman other than Catwoman. Because she's the only woman equal to him and he's the only man good enough for her.

EDIT: I'm also not going to mention Miranda because this thread isn't for bashing other characters and I am cursed with an inability to mention 'Miranda' in a sentance without also ****ing swearing.

yeah. I get that form the colonist/soul srvivor Sheps since they just survived. Although my canon Mshep is apsacer war hero adept so he single handedly defended Elysium with his biotics and a pistol (defended Zakera ward where he was stationed in Guns and Poems and is Kallen's younger brother when he Serves with Ash on *spoiler*) but then again Ashley's only been in space for service once for training then sent right back down planet side. Poor girl.
