What? They're getting on with each other? I would have thought that Ash would be tearing her to pieces for what Liara did.
Liara gave Shepard's corpse over to Cerberus, essentially shackling him to the metaphorical devil and destroying any chance of reclaiming his former life. (Sure, dying does that, but Cerberus is like pouring salt and lemon on the wound). If Ash doesn't get pissed at that, I don't know what will set her off....

Actually if Liara haven't handed over Shepards corpse to Cerberus he would have been death and for that I think Ashley appreciates what she did. She brought back the man of her life.Aurora313 wrote...

I can't concur here.
Why should Ash be thankful towards Liara? Heck, not even Shepard is really thankful.
Liara gave Shepard's corpse to Cerberus. Fine, that's okay, we can live with that, Ashley may accept it as well.
However, Liara never told Ashley what she did. I'm not even sure if she told Hackett or Anderson (but if she did, it would explain a lot, especially Hackett's actions in ME2).
NOT telling her might drive a rift between Ash & Liara. Seriously, Liara acted really mean here, especially in case Shepard and Ashley were together ...

'I couldn't let you go'?
That's something I expect Ashley to say! A Romanced Ashley!
Not Liara whom I never spoke to beyond the briefings! And I was damned hostile at that!

Yeah, given the fact you can ignore Liara in ME1 (by picking her up post-Virmire OR never talking to her besides the briefings) she definitely acts like someone who's in love.
It may work for Shepards who were nice to her in ME1 and picked her up early - and dismissed her in favor of the VS: in that case Liara could be still in love with Shepard, even if s/he doesn't return the feelings. Something like this also happens in R/L (except the dying part of course).
Means: in my case it works, but seriously: for me Liara is more like a friend. Now she just made it up to "creepy friend" - at least as long as she's the Shadow Broker and coquets with her knowledge of all of your little dirty secrets (which she does).
Whatever ... <_<
Okay, we shouldn't start bashing Liara here, that doesn't fit into this thread and may cause problems, so ... I won't go into any serious debate here.
Ashley's relationship to Liara is a professional one. Maybe at some point Liara earns Ashley's trust and they might become friends, but even then I can't see them becoming BFF or something. Their friendship is more based on comradeship. Also Ashley might overcome hostilities caused by jealousy

Liara is someone my Shepards talk to because they need information to help their job. Aside from that, they avoid/ignore her. Shepard's focused on saving the verse, Pierce is focused on watching Shepard and Ashley's backs.
Yeah, but my Shepard has no Pierce to watch his back. That's why he has Ashley. And Ashley's fine ass gets covered by Shepard ...
Wait. That sounds wrong
Makes sense. After all Miranda ragequitted Cerberus as well. And she is considered as one of the most loyal Cerberus agents.Totally Not Swaggacide wrote...

I definitely miss our ambiguous talks about Ashley, Shepard and Pierce, know that?
They gave me that funny feeling in my belly ... maybe joy?
Lets say I enjoyed them ... they made my grey days a bit more sunny, so to speak.

Hey mate, you want her back. You just have to ask.
It's your character
Aaaand you already made your decision what to do with her. Unless you changed your mind, there's no PAS-goodness for us
Pierce: I think I'll date Vega, Knives.
Shepard: You "think"? Why not doing it?
Pierce: Still pending decision between "hell of a man" or that nice love triangle with my almost-brother and my best friend.
Ashley: I would pick Vega.
Shepard: Ash?!
Ashley: What? He's tough, he's big and he got great abs ...
Pierce: But your body is fine too, Shepard.
Shepard: "Thank you."
Ashley: Don't worry, Skip, I stay yours. May Rox have Vega. They are a beautiful couple.
Pierce: Yeah, still, it's a decision between ONE man ... or a hot and steamy relationship with a man and a woman at the same time. You know ... decisions, decisions ...
Shepard: You usually get what you want ...
Pierce: That's the issue. I don't know what I want. Both options are tempting.
Ashley: Whatever you pick, I'll concur. You're more than a friend, Rox ... *slightly sexy undertone*
Pierce: Don't remind me of the best time I had in my life, Ash, or I might want you back *husky*
Shepard: I need a cold shower.
Ashley: Mind if I join you?
Pierce: Have fun you two ... *grins* - uhh ... and mind if I join too?
Shepard:

As if that's the only reason
Think you're basically like Pierce - "decisions, decisions" - you have no idea (yet), what to do next with her. Like Pierce in that little dialogue ... EXACTLY like her.
@ TNS:
Pierce is Aurora's fem!Shep but got introduced in her male!Shep (Jon-Mal) universe as his "almost-sister". They're not related in some way but she lived in the same house when they were younger - like a sister. Their relationship was like the one of siblings ... (Aurora, correct me if I'm wrong).
Aaaand ... Pierce is one of the characters I enjoy playing with. Lets say, she's an OC with an amazing potential.

Wait, that sounds creepy.
Lets say, Ashley and Pierce together are a writer's team. There's so much stuff you can do with both without violating either character. They plus Shepard are a source of great joy, emotions and drama as well. Okay, Shepard and Ashley alone have enough emotions for two full fledged romance stories, but with those three together, ... guess you get what I'm saying.
Either that, or my imagination is a bit too "living".

She doesn't outright say why she couldn't let you go, it could be different things for different Shepards, what we know is that she has always admired Shepard. But there were practical reasons getting Shep back to life: first and foremost, s/he knows the Reapers are coming, unlike most of the galaxy that just ignores it, and Shepard is an icon, a lot of people look up to him. If anyone can convince people the Reapers are coming it's the person who talked to one. Liara looked up to you and saw an oppertunity to bring that person back, it fits her character to go to some length to do just that.
It wouldn't be surprising to me if Liara was the only one who realised that Shepard could be a very important asset to stopping the Reapers. You don't have to be grateful for it, but it's not hard to think of reasons outside of "creepy friend".
I can't see Ash and Liara becoming fullblown friend either, but they could grow closer over time, they have both fought by Shepard's side since the beginning and by the end of ME1 I did feel a lot less animosity between the two, unless you tried to romance them both. Like you said comradeship might be a better word.

And if Liara sees Shepard as said asset, then she acts really below the belt: in that case Shepard is not more than a tool and used as such. I disliked that attitude of TIM already but it's even worse if Liara takes the same line.
Lets say I'm okay if Liara did it because she cared for Shepard - caused by an unfulfilled love. That's at least a honest AND positive reason to bring someone back from the dead.
Different topic:
I just saw fem!Shep's "casual outfit". I'd say there it goes, our hope for "partially nude" scenes. At least fem!Shep won't show us sideboobs. And guess Ashley won't do either. Modding anyone? ^^

Gotta say though, my Fem!Shep wouldn't mind the hoodie. Screw Jon-Mal, he can have the leather jacket instead.
That leather jacket is epic win. I want one of those ... please, EA, I have moneyz! Can I have a jacket?!
But I was talking more about the "casual" wear. Really "casual" - aka "underwear". m!Shep has a slip, f!Shep has normal (functional but sexy) underwear. So guess there's no nude body included in ME3. That also means no "sideboobs" for us ... and most likely no nude Ashley.
Speaking of ... as soon as ME3 is out, I want a comparison shot between f!Shep's and Ashley's body. f!Shep got godly hips ...
