But what does it even matter if she swings both ways as long as she's into you?
The risk I see is gender-neutral, copy-paste dialogue in what should be intensely emotional scenes of reconciliation. I'm looking forward to the capstone of a trilogy spanning roller coaster romance. Any posibility of watering that down makes me...nervous...

That's of course your right to do so.
However, as I said before, Kaidan and Ashley are no "full blown bisexuals" like Diana Allers. The VS is attracted to Shepard - and only to Shepard - regardless of gender. You simply don't need to go into a relationship with the VS if s/he has the same sex as your Shepard.

I share that same concern but the differences in dialogue between ash talking to a dude and a women would be relatively minor when you think about it. I don't think it would be all that watered down

Ashley loves Shepard. Now which details might be different if Shepard is female?
- they can't have kids on their own. So if that topic comes up, Ash might talk to fem!Shep about adopting.
- gay marriage shouldn't be an issue in 22nd century, so I can see a proposal scene for both Shepards
- the sex scenes might be different
- some minor changes like "he" or "she" if needed
Besides that ... ? No watering down needed because romances work regardless of gender. If there are any difference, then like I said: only minor stuff ... if at all.

Your point? You know Wrex can not be talked down on Virmire in some universes, does that ruin your enjoyment of Wrex? No. You know Characters in ME2 can take bakc their loyalty in some universes, does that ruin them for you? no. Why does Ashley being with Kallen in MY Me3 ruin her being with your Male Shep in YOUR ME3? that makes no sense.NICKjnp wrote...
In the end of the day...I will know if they are or are not. If one or the other swings both ways and is open to it is the same in both universes.

I started the game and chose Adhley as my main LI because her actions and words showed me she was a religious woman. I enjoyed that about her. It is what interested me the most in the ME universe. I could confirm my beliefs and there is a npc that shares them. For her to come out in "Kallen's" universe means that she would be a bisexual in both. Of she openly sought a lesbian relationship with "Kallen" means she would be open to one in "Nicholas'" universe.
As for Wrex and the loyalty situations in ME2...that is different and you know it...unless you are saying that people choose to be bisexual.

Okay. To get it right: you can't continue the romance with Ashley if she's swinging both ways 'cause of religious reasons?
Think that's something we shouldn't touch. I'm an atheist, so I can't follow your idea but since it's important to you, I can understand your problem.
However, there's, as I said, a way out of that issue: Ashley will be straight if you play a male Shepard. She's not interested in other women.
She only will find female Shepard attractive in ME3 - and might allow something she wouldn't do with any other person.
Also keep in mind religions in 22nd century are far less strict and more open minded (no offense), therefore, even a catholic Ashley might have absolutely no issues with loving a female Shepard.
It's a touchy topic, therefore I won't go into that any further.
