I like her new hair better, but honestly her hair is not a big deal. Her face looks the same. She doesn't look that different.

I'm terribly sorry for not sharing the same opinion as you, Garrison.

Will anti-Anew Ash look people STOP mentioning Miranda? Ashley is not Miranda, Miranda is not Ashley. They are two different characters and their outfits are completely different. The only reason Miranda should be mentioned with Ashley are:
they are both the female human leads of their games
Both are incredibly talented and beautiful squadmates
Both are love interests
both are integral to the plot of ME3 and wonderful women.

Complaining that ash is being "Miranda-fied" is degrading to Ashley and degrading to Miranda and we should not resort to bashing characters.

I'm not a huge Miranda fan per say but I think it's fair to say there is more to her character than long hair and a catsuit. People keep bringing her up as if those are her defining traits.

Who is bashing?

Granted I disliked Miranda a lot. Didn't find her at all beautifull and the ass-shots were annoying as hell and degrading towards women in general. I don't want that to happen to Ashley and that is why I used the word "Miranda-fied".

Ash on the other hand is both beautifull and has a great character unlike Miranda in my opinion.

If that opinion is constituted as bashing then I surely don't know how I am supposed to defend Ashley against BW.

you're using Miranda's name as a term to degrade Ashley's appearance, therefore bashing. and it's degrading to Ashley because you're saying she's nothing more than a character you can't stand.

■Ashley's middle name, Madeline, is another reference to Tennyson from her poetry-loving father.

Ah! So, that explains her "Hemingway impression." Doesn't impress me though! :police:

Nope you are misreading me ADL.

Ashley is a great character that I don't want to become degraded. That is the point I am so desperately trying to get across.

I want Ashleys character to be intact in ME3 but the pictures of her and the tweet that her personality has changed accordingly to accomodate the new look has me worried.

Her new look is getting somewhat close to Mirandas look. A character I couldn't stand because she was being degraded by BW.

As I said before. I don't want that to happen to Ashley because I love her (not in a weird way. You know what I mean.).

To be fair, that's not necessarily the case. IT jsut implies that the new Ashley is something other than Ashley. I don't agree with that but since we can all agree that Miranda is not Ashley, saying that she's Miranda-fied is not necessarily bashing of Miranda. Although I suppose some people do so.

Degraded?! She's the onyl squadmate wh's pwoers are useful on insanity, she's a qualified leader for BOTH fire teams, and is near IMPOSSIBLE to kill on the SM as she can only die on the last aprt and if either squaddies dies on the that part SHEPARD dies. I hardly qualify that as being degraded and I hope Ashley gts the same treatment in that respect because that's fit for a queen.

This part I haven't heard, all I can remember is that 'no one is the same' tweet from somewhere.

This part does worry me somewhat especially now that the guy who wrote her for ME1 and 2 is no longer working at Bioware...

I think he meant in terms of character design, AD. Not the actual gameplay value Miranda has.

Sorry. I should have made that clearer. I wasn't talking about Miranda's powers in combat but about her character and her design.

It seems we can only agree to disagree on how we want to defend Ash against BW.

I do see your viewpoint. I just am unable to share it. For me Miranda is a horrible character that is only there for the good looks. Her combat powers are great but I never liked to take her along on missions because of those degrading outfits and I didn't want to have to pay to give that woman some armor. Posted Image

Even as a character she's wonderful. She's intelligent, a natrual leader (though not to the degree of Shepard) an incredible strategist and a caring, sweet, woman. She looks after those that follwo her too (she got one of the crewman's families moved so they'd be safe from the collectors) I'm still not seeing how she's a terrible character when Bioware has gone out of their way to make her great and should be doing so wth Ashley, even though they wouldn't have to do much.Posted Image

I hope you didn't see my motivational (no, please do see it); however, I'm sure you get it. But you do understand why folks are saying that because they think that that's all there is to Miranda as well.

Heck, it's no secret that she has been "Miranda-fied," - and I like her - because to some (not me), she was just kind of there; however, it did suit her character. Yet, she wasn't as popular then. There's the other side of it, too, where they wished she hadn't been modifed in appearance.

I don't think it's degrading to Ashley's character because I think most people are more worried about if her personality changes.

I don't believe the observation was meant to degrade in any way because as you can see that description has been used alot and not necessarily in a scathing manner. If there's anything scathing, it's towards the artists who decided to make her over.

I wonder what has been or will be said now that Jack will have hair because personally, the baldness fit her character. I don't see her spewing vitrol with a full head of hair meshing together very well, but I'm sure they'll make it work somehow. Appearances changes, personalities, however, don't.

Miranda flaunted her sexuality and was a popular character
Miranda was all over the ads and the box art and promotional materials for ME2
ME2 was a very popular game designed to have more appeal to the Gears/COD/"Dude bros" crowd than ME1 did

Given the new look Ashley has, is it not an unreasonable fear that in an attempt to re-create the success of ME2 and to appeal to the same "dude bros" crowd that EA may be willing to alter Ash's character to fill that niche?

People who are afraid Ashley's character (more so than just her image) is going to be fundamentally altered in an attempt to sell ME3 to the right market are not crazy.  It's a real possibility.  Before someone says something about "Blind faith in bioware yadda yadda...."  I'm not quite so trusting.  Of course there plenty of devs there who are good, honest, enthusiastic, and passionate people who care about their craft and making good games, but I'm also sure there are also plenty of people at Bioware who really like money and may have visions of a lucrative larger market that also happens to appeal to a lower common denominator.  Also I'm definately not very trusting when it comes to EA.

Character DESIGN, AD. As in PVC/spray-on armour. Her design has little to do with her character.

OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it actually did though. It gave her an advantage by using her looks. Who's gonna want to shoot the pretty lady that just rolled around the corner?Posted Image

and even so, her design doesn't take away from how incredible she is as a character.

I'm as concerned about Ash still being Ash as a lot of people, but I don't think that her new appearance automatically means she will be. I'd think it would make more sense to wait and see how she turns out in the game.

There are actually changes I think would make sense for Ash in ME 3, but I don't know that she will be developed with changes that make sense or not.

Saying no-one is the same could mean any number of things.

That is were our opinions differ. The design is part of the character in my humble opinion.

Well ... lets get back on topic. This isn't the Miranda support thread. Posted Image

That is a good point. For all we know Ashley could have become incredibly cocky from her missions as a spectre and has somewhat of a big head or she could have "seens ome things maaaaaan" and have some demons she needs to work out. The possibilites are endless...

ME3 ash is still ash to me.what matters to me is her charecter.if her personality is changed in a bad way THEN THATS when ash will no longer be ash.she can wear her hair anyway she wants and she can dress however she wants.

her INNER self is what we all are truly attracted to not how she wears her hair.i dont think bioware will change who ash is fudmentaly they may change some of the other things or maybe add some things but ash was already a great charecter.

ash is not miranda 2.0.Miranda is not the only woman in the galaxy who can have dark flowing hair and a tight leather suit.
