Liara might have more face time because she's bioware's golden (err blue?) girl, but there's just no beating the ups and downs, problems and resolutions you'll find playing all 3 games with ashley as your LI.


The lows absolutely suck, but they make the good parts so much better.

Oh I've been faithful to Ashley since day one back in 2007. I'm just going to replay the whole series again because I want to see her from the beginning again.

When I finally got her back as a squadmate I found the amount of conversations to be lacking compared to the rest of the crew.

I don't know how it is when she is not romanced, but even if you're romancing her she hasn't that much to say, besides her love talks. Sadly just Zaeed-Style conversations without really acknowledging the romance itself.
Somehow she is completly missing the interaction with the other crewmembers. Maybe I just overlooked something but I can't remember seeing her anywhere else on the ship.

But nonetheless... I just noticed again that I, once again, have fixated myself on a LI (damn you Viconia & Morrigan *shakes fist*). Just started a new game with my Liaramancer char, saw Ash and immediately started a NG+ with my canon, ashmancing Shep.

No, there's no real difference unfortunately. Just Zaeed-style conversations. I only know this because I'm playing with a complete d-bag renegade Shep that emphasizes the mission comes first and saved Ash on Virmire. No romance for him in any ME game.

Must say, Liara was - very tempting - in ME3. Actually, she made it up to my fave characters in ME3. She's still not my type, but definitely one of the characters I never want to kill or see dying.

Liara's turn on my second playthrough, appropriate since she's my second favorite li. She more my type to be honest, but, I guess Ashley might be my ''dream'' type. That and the almost real life depth to Ashleys character. (although Liara has gotten more depth in ME3, I feel.

Her blue eyes are beautiful however.

The one reason why I like Liara much more in ME3 is her greatly developed character. Same for Garrus by the way and Traynor is an incredible surprising new addition. She's really useful now and comes with a fascinating character. Allers on the other hand is really meh ...


Ashley is -very- tempting. Dream type? Darn yes. Real type? Yep. But I doubt I have the guts to ask such woman for a date - and even if I could, there's no chance for a live relationship. However, Ashley symbolizes pretty much everything I value in a "perfect woman": strong, willpowered, straight forward, educated, loving, family orientated, beautiful - a lot of good traits. Some flaws too, but nothing really damaging.

So Ash pretty much meets my dream type optically and characterly ... :wub:

Liara is my fav but that is partly because FemShep is my canon. Had Ashley been open to her then she might have taken first place ... oh, well. Really it doesn't matter since I can't play either Shepards after that awful "non-ending". I used my "first run" Shepard and what an empty awful feeling the game left.

So now neither my canon (EW) or second fav (PV) will see daylight if the ending stands as is. Even with Kimberly Brooks' promise PV will live forever in ME2 alone.

Heh, a relationship with Ash would be one full of highs and lows, I love her soft, sappy, poetry loving side, but have difficulty with for instance the way she acted towards Liara in ME1, she's a woman that can hold to her beliefs very firmly, which often makes things too black and white for my liking.

But this is mostly ME1 Ash, Ash has matured somewhat since then, some of her views seem to have changed a little, so I need to reasses.

@PMC; I think anyone of us would've been ''dorky'' in that situation, Lol, and really, who cares? Ans it sounds like she replied in a similar manner, which is great! ...Haha, I'm jealous.

Hey all, first time posting in the Ashley thread...or any romance thread other than Jack's. I figured, "everyone thinks Jack is a crazy ****, but I love her," then I thought, "everyone thinks Ashley is a ****, too, so maybe I'll love her, too." I tend to find characters that are more abrasive on the surface more rewarding in the long run - and characters that are goo-goo eyes for you from the beginning, like Liara, to be boring and shallow. So, I think my next play-through I'll try to not murder Ashley, and stay loyal with her through all 3 games, and see how it goes.

So... did Ashley ever become a spectre? Or did that all go to hell after Udina betrayed the council?

Not sure if I was keen on the idea in all honesty, Ashley was my LI and in the end I supported her decision, but Shepard being the first and only human spectre was always something I thought was pretty epic.

Still, I was anticipating Ashley being formally inducted, like Shepard was in the first one, but alas, that never occurred.

Loved Ashley in ME3, was heart breaking the final conversation with her. Remained loyal through ME2 on the promise of a reunion and it was great, just a shame she never called Shepard skipper. I hope we see more from her but I doubt it, and that hurts even more. BioWare have created an awesome character, I do hope it's not the end for Ash.

She was probably my favorite character in ME1. I don't like my crew to be a bunch of yes-men *ss-kissers, so I admired her strength and independence. She and my Shepard would disagree on matters, but the mission and friendship were always more important than arguing. Her sarcasm was much appreciated, since a lot of the ME1 dialogue was pretty stilted.  She was very well-rounded.  Few cast members had flaws, making them flatter, and her love of poetry was welcomed. 

Sometimes I wonder if the dislike comes down to it being a gender thing. Liara and Tali? Both strong, but also people who are going to ultimately agree with whatever you say. People love them. Ashley, Jack, and Miranda? Also strong, but to the point where they're going to call you on your potential bull****. People aren't necessarily fond of them in the same way. Wrex? He'll be outright nasty to you in ME1, and all the krogan take a more intense stance against other species than Ashley ever does, but people still love the guy. Makes one wonder if it's simply because he has, er, a quad.

The space racist accusation is stupid. She's so racist that she doesn't even want to associate with you once you get on the Cerberus payroll. Can't please her detractors. She's a "racist" in the first game, but when she calls you out in the second game for working with the actual evil racists, then she's annoying for not obeying everything you say.

Would have romanced her if the same-sex option had been left in for ME1. Shame it wasn't. I remained single. Liara just wasn't my type.

Apart from the drunk scene, which was gold, I'm not sure if I liked how she was in ME3. Kind of a shadow of her former self, and all the best lines were reserved for love-interest stuff. Feels like Garrus absorbed all her sarcastic energy in ME2 and ME3. Had some zingers in ME1, but never as much as he did in latter games. Ash felt pretty dry and more down-to-business in ME3. Her lack of full dialogue didn't help.

I wish they had kept Ash/Kaidan around for the entire series. Seems arbitrary to drop then and add them back in. Now they just feel like outsiders, even amongst the ME1 crew members.
