Ashley: You never told me everything about that story. All Liara and I saw was when you get hit.
Shepard: Nearly.
Ashley: You went down, Skipper. Liara cried when she saw this and I ... I did too. We had to fall back, but she didn't want to go. We thought you were dead.
Shepard: According to Dr. Chakwas, I was dead - for more than four hours.
Ashley: I know. Creepy part: you came back on your own. No one touched you - and then you wake up. A miracle. Another one.
Shepard: Seems so.
Ashley: This time you saw something. I wonder ... what did you see?
Shepard: Frankly? I saw hell. Corpses everyhwere, some looked like you and Kaidan. Then I saw Anderson and the illusive man ... and then I shot at Anderson. I was forced ... couldn't do anything. I ... Ash ... it was hell. Can't talk about any further, not now.
Ashley: I'm sorry, Skipper. Didn't know-
Shepard: Still need to sort things out. The war is over, Ash. Anderson is alive and reorganizing the Alliance. Seems we got away from this stuff with two broken legs and lots of bruises, but we're still here. Which is much more than we had two years ago.
Ashley: You're right. So, what's on our agenda today?
Shepard: You're the captain. Tell me, Ash *smirks*
Ashley: But you got called by Hackett in the middle of the night ...
Shepard: Oh that. Uhmm. Yeah, he gave us orders ... seems the Quarians need some help. That's a good opportunity to visit Tali, don't you think?
Ashley: Admiral Tali'Zorah vas Normandy? Of course ... *smiles*

And I definitely love the post-war non-Commander Comander Shepard. He feels much more relaxed. And Ash definitely enjoys his presence.

However, I must say, even without his Spectre rank, Shepard would stay with Ash on board of that ship. He's a goddamn hero, a legend. That should count for something, huh?

Reminds me when I reloaded and shot Mordin just to see the altered cutscene. Pretty well done. But even my renegade couldn't do it to him. For the good or bad, krogans will always get the cure. And I could never shoot Ash on Citadel. However I had no problem shooting Kaidan. Or killing Legion.

Yeah, but SpecTRe status is his official 'Do whatever I want and get away with it' badge. Sure the Alliance wouldn't deny him whichever post he wanted.

And thats what I wanted to get across, he's not juggling two careers anymore. And of course, Ashley is there. And the galaxy doesn't need saving again, so yeah. He's relaxed.

Speaking of killing Ashley: did ANYONE got the scene where she gets mortally wounded and says some last lines to Shepard? There's that heartbreaking dialogue in case she was romanced ... wonder if it made it into the game or if Ashley ALWAYS dies instantly.

What scene are you talking about? The Udina one? If you romanced her, I don't think it's possible for her to die(I tried).

Ok, I am on my second run through of the game, and there is a good chance I messed this up again. But how in the hell do you start the romance with Ashley??? I can't find any videos on you tube that walk you through it. All that comes up are videos about the sex scene. It is ridiculous. So any help would be great.

She sends you an Email after you recruit her about meeting on the Presidum. After that, just play your cards right and choose paragon options pretty much.

I romanced Ash in ME1 and continued in ME3. She doesn't even get shot, she'll point the gun at Udina even if you picked all the 'bad' choices. So I guess if you break up with her in ME3, then she gets shot, like you did with Kaidan.

Coucil alive  = + 2 points + ashley romance in M1 + 2 points, + reputation + 2 points etc.

if the council from M1 is dead, = - 2 points  for example.

There's a formula behind this? Okay, I think there's one behind Geth/Quarian peace - you can't achieve it if you rewrote the Heretics and sacrificed Admiral Koris. If you killed the Heretics, you still can negotiate peace even if Koris died.

So it's the same for the VS?

In my second playthrough when I didnt romance Ash, I friendzoned her (was romanced in ME1 and did not cheat in ME2), i got the renegade-interrupt option to shoot her, ofc I didnt, i managed to persuade her instead. When I romanced Ash i didnt even get he renegade-interrupt. Dont think its possible to shoot her if you kept her romanced.

EDIT: Might have mixed this up with my unromanced kaidan. In ^ those playthroughs the old council was alive, all of them. When i had kaidan there, the old council+new salarian was dead, and I definetly got the renegade interrupt-opt

yeah, it's the same thing. I just gave an example, it wasn't accurate what I said. But for sure, a new player needs more reputation than someone who plays mass effect since the beginning. I noticed that if the council is alive, Ashley can't even doubt, because they already trust shepard who saved their lives. So Udina, does not show its "proofs " about Shepard who tries to kill them all.

If it is another council, there, it is more difficult, Udina shows its proofs to ashley , and Shepard needs to convince her. ( so reputation + conciliaton or renegade ) And that's where to choose her as a Li could also play a role. If you don't get enought points, you'll need to kill her or your companion will do it.

So a new player who doesn't even have Ashley as LI, with another council, and who doesn't get enought reputation ( conciliation + renegade ) won't be able to convince her. Also, what you said about Cerberus on Mars might be also taken into account.

Ahh thanks for clearing up.

Actually, I like the formula stuff. BW should have done it in ME1 and ME2 too, so some paths weren't available ... actually, it's maybe the best way to simulate "your decisions have influence" stuff.

Speaking of: why did they never do the same for the romances? I really wish BW would have done.

- too low points: LI not available
- low points: LI available for flirt
- med points: LI available for flirts and dates
- high points: LI romance arc fully unlocked
- extra points: LI romance arc fully unlocked and secret scenes available
- imported Shepard + extra points: LI romance arc fully unlocked, secret scenes available, "true love" scenes available.

Hmm ... explore Ashley's romance three times and three times it'll feel different ^^

Yes, that's one of the dialogues I missed - and it got cut. Dunno if someone datamined Ashley's lines yet, but I'm sure BW recorded that dialogue and dummied it out.

It's also one of the dialogues I want to have back with a patch or romance DLC.

Can you mp me what missed in M3 from the leaked script ? I want all the Ashley's lines ! Now I am ready. ( If I didn't read the leaked script, that's because I knew there would be cut content as usual during game development and I didn't want to be disappointed. )
