Yep, Ashley (that's really ... distracting to talk to you as Ash, Ashley o.O)
Compared to other romances - except Kaidan's - Ashley's romance doesn't come with the best start. To get it running, Ash has to break the regs; her feelings for Shepard must be really strong, otherwise, she wouldn't risk her career and her family's name to get his attention.
Even if Shepard is a Spectre in ME1, Ashley is just a normal soldier, the regs apply on her. Falling in love with the CO should still have some severe consequences, especially since their love became "official" after stealing the Normandy. Somehow I'm glad Anderson seems to be a good friend of her too - otherwise, Ash would have been brought to a court and discharged.
It's kinda interesting BW makes it -really- easy to start a romance with Ash. Would say, if I could remake the trilogy, Ashley's and Kaidan's romances should be far more difficult to start - but once they're activated, they also should be far more rewarding.
Well, it's understandable, it's never really been about it being hard to romance someone in the sense of picking the right choices, the hard part lies in the characters themselves, their very nature, can you live with someone's flaws, someone's personality?
But yeah I do agree, It would've been great seeing a bit more struggle in the sense of "We shouldn't be doing this", I wouldn't say more difficulty is needed though.
Plus there is already a lot of struggle with her in ME3, so it might be a good thing, having to "struggle" through three games sounds like a bit much. The build-up is quiet, but what happened afterwards? Not so much.
