Ashley: Yeah ... that's the deal.
Shepard: Five, and I kill a Reaper on the next planet we're heading to. On foot.

BTW: I always imagined Sarah Williams as a younger version of Ash. She looked entirely different - guess the devs simply didn't get the idea "siblings often share some similar features". Okay, in my case it's not true - my sis looks entirely different. She's hot, I'm not, so to speak

actually in my experience when people have a mixed ancestry they can look like a certain nationality even if don't have that in their background.  For example, my former roommate she's mostly european (like irish and italian), but she did look like a latina as well.  

But yeah Ash is definitely 'mixed' ....which is good! 

I thought Ash's sister was a cop-out by bioware... she looked pretty much like a generic NPC to me.  Given that I picked Ash as romance during my playthrough I was really curious to see and meet the rest of her family.

Ash is definitely mixed. In my headcanon, she has at least one branch going back to General Lee and another branch is "European" - she has relatives in Spain, Germany and Great Britain as well. Lets say, she's really mixed. And a funny IRL connection: Aurora is Ashley's great-great-great-great-great-great-grandmother. So to speak.

Also I'd love to see the rest of Ashley's family: her three sisters and her mother.

I'm with AMW this time: can't see any French / Canadian hints in Ash.

But who knows, maybe she HAS some French heritage as well. As I said, Ash is pretty much "mixed", and I love it that way. She's pretty much perfect.

Plus I enjoy checking out family trees. Her's is incredible tempting to explore. Headcanon-wise, of course.

I agree Sarah seemed like a bioware cop-out as well, she looked like a generic NPC with no real distinguishing features and no VA assigned. You spent most of ME1 learning about Ash's family and you even heard Sarah speaking on a vid message... the memorial scene could have been done much better.

I'm a little less optimistic in that situation. Sure, I agree that Sarah's generic NPC appearance was crappy, but at the same time not having a VA for her was acceptable for me. It was a memorial scene for her KIA husband, so I wouldn't expect any dialogue from her. Too shaken up from it but handling it well.

I was disappointed when she wasn't clickable to talk to. She just stanfds there.....
