Is it strange that very time I have to say goodbye to Ashley on earth I cant help but cry

Headcanon 'Verse. Year: 2191

Joker: So the Commander - er, First SpecTRe... gah, what's his new rank now?
Ashley: I think you're allowed to just call him 'Shepard' Joker, for god's sake you're one of his oldest friends.
Joker: I suppose I could, yeah. But even after he retired it just didn't feel right to not call him 'Commander'. When we fought the Collectors I still called him Commander. It's a respect thing.
Ashley: But for his sake, just call him Shepard, OK? He hates it when people use titles.
Joker: Yeah. Alright - I remember. So What's his rank now, anyway?
Ashley: First SpecTRe. You got it right the first time.
Joker: I guess he's not coming back to the Normandy, is he?
Ashley: It doesn't quite feel the same without him, huh?
Joker: I bet you still miss him.
Ashley: Trying to imply something, Flight Lieutenant?
Joker: Not at all, Captain. Aside from the fact you two were obviously together. I'm just teasin'.
Ashley: Well, for one thing. I don't miss him. *Glances over her shoulder with a smile.*
Joker: Yeah? Figured you would, being his girlfriend and all.
???: She can't miss someone when they aren't gone, Joker.
Joker: What the sh!t? *turns.*

Shepard: *wave* Morning.
Joker: Commander! Holy sh - welcome back.*handshake* I'd get up and hug you, but you know. Brittle bones.
EDI: Welcome back, Shepard.
Shepard: Thanks EDI.
Ashley: How long are you gonna be back with us, Skipper?
Shepard: Long as I want.
Joker: So, you're working out of the Council, not the Alliance? Why the hell come back here?
Shepard: A number of reasons, mainly, I bloody well hate sitting behind a desk. It's driving me insane.
Ashley: Ah, so the truth comes out.
Joker: Never figured you for a desk jocky, you're not the kind of guy who can sit down for hours pushing paper.
Shepard: Basically. Plus, easy access to the bar, and I'm not interrupted every five f*cking seconds to fill out some requisition form.
Ashley: *clears throat*
Shepard: And the missus is here too. Let's not forget that. Never liked the whole long distance thing.
Joker: In other words, you're staying.
Ashley: Just like old times.
Shepard: Yep.
Ashley: Just to clear things up though, I'm still Captain of this ship ok.
Shepard: Not disputing that, but as the quote-unquote 'First' of the SpecTRes. I'm still technically your boss.

*Ashley and Shepard begin to argue in background.*

Joker: Not even thirty seconds have passed and mum and dad are already fighting over the steering wheel. Yep. Just like old times.
EDI: That is highly unlikely Jeff, are you are the designated pilot of this vessel and the only one capable of piloting a configuration such as this.
Joker: ... I was joking EDI, but thanks for the compliment.
EDI: You are welcome.

Nice one, Aurora. Although "Field Marshal" doesn't exist I think. Make him either an Admiral or a General ...

Yeah, still that rank ... dunno. It comes with a bad taste. "German Rank" and such. "Feldmarschall" = "Field Marshal". Maybe it's just me, but basically, that rank means "supreme commander" or "General of the Army". Which is odd a bit ... ^^

"Captain Williams" on the other hand sounds neat. ^^

Got a better rank, suggest it. I just randomly picked one. I wanted a rank that didn't directly state 'Commander' and wasn't exactly Alliance either. Thought of 'Head Spectre' but was a bit to Generic. I really don't know what to sub it with.

"Chief of Special Tactics and Reconnaisance" aka "Spectre Chief"

"Spectre Number One" - plain & simple

I had that one as third option but scratched it.
Thought it's too close to "First human SpecTRe".

However, it's far better than "Field Marshal".

Spectre First class. (SFC)  I don't know, I'm just shouting out random new ranks.

Or I can just start reciting Navy ranks with Spectre in them:
Chief Spectre
Senior Chief Spectre
Master Chief Spectre

It's hard being an Ashley fan sometimes. The fact that the writers didn't do her character justice in the 3rd game didn't help either.

Actually, I had two or three days since release when I tried to leave Ashley ... but I couldn't. I'm kinda sad how BW treated her, but then again, I have headcanon. And in my headcanon, Ash is the Ash we know: a passionate, determined soldier and woman that's in love with Shepard.

Not a whole lot really. Aurora just gave Shepard a new Spectre Rank after he retiered from the Alliance and Data and myself gave ideas for new ones.

Couldn't finish my page yesterday since lack of time. I hope I can do it today. May also post third page if I have the time to get it done - and then I'm done with the prologue.

And THEN I seriously should start plotting the plot - so to speak
Just have several scenes in my mind, but nothing fleshed out so far. The "M-rating" implies there's at least one mature scene planned

Another reason why I love her.
She deserves to be loved - because she's authentic. C'mone, there's nothing more boring than liking a character that's intended to be liked by everyone.
Ash provokes emotions - strong emotions. Can't name you anyone who says she's "meh". Either love, like, dislike or sheer hate - there's no "I don't care position" regarding Ashley.

And that's a good thing. The greatest achievement of a writer is to create a character that's so authentic, it provokes strong emotions.

Yeah, that's understandable. Only this time around, it's because of the Cerberus connection ties that Shepard previously had. Honestly, I'd rather see that than the "she's a racist b!tch" remark. Either way, doesn't help her case unfortunately.
