Lt. Commander Ashley Williams thread: "Don't 'Ash' me!" We're Back Baby!

But the RP part - which is the main reason to replay that game - got dumbed down to "autodialogues", "Zaeed-style one-liners" and less options to choose from. You're right - ME3 is the weakest part of the series in this field. Another reason, why I want to reboot the entire series: gameplay is fine in ME3 and should get introduced in ME1 and ME2, while interactions and RP stuff should be based on ME1 and ME2 for sure.

Yea, everytime I see "Ash is racist RAAAA" I see a person who didn't actually talk with her and realize what she is actually saying.
Honestly, it really reflects on them as a person in general. So you disagree with her views(Even though you were too ignorant to READ BETWEEN THE LINES when talking to her!) and think she should die because of them?
Last I checked, killing a person just because of their difference in opinion, is a lot worse than your self-supposed "racist" attitude of the said person.

Frankly, with an active Ashley vs. Miranda thread on the loose right now, I can't say I'm complaining as that might act as a catalyst for such.CptData wrote...
Nope. We don't have Miranda on board and we don't have epic banter with Ashley at all.
But on a normal basis, yeah, that does suck that Miranda doesn't come aboard. I'm sure as long as you didn't cheat, they would've become great friends as they share many similarities.

That's what I've been thinking. She mentioned basically how each of the other races in a big crisis will always look to take care of their own first before caring about anyone else. Lo and behold, come ME3, Shep has serious difficulty uniting the galaxy against the Reapers because each race is worried about protecting themselves first and foremost.N7_Sniper91 wrote...

People who were saying Ashley was a racist for what she said in ME1, when we see in ME3, she was absolutely right.
When the time came to ask the other races for help, they refused to do anything for us(Even going so far as to use our plight as a delaying tactic to save their own skins), until we threw ourselves at their problems.
Am I right?

They might have a cool start - the chances they'll grow closer and become friends one day are there for sure. I wouldn't even being surprised if Ash would welcome Miranda as "big" sister since she's older than her
That being said plus this picture, I say "good night".

I think Ash and Miranda would get along for one reason alone: they're both big sisters. Ash would have to respect Miranda standing up for and protecting Oriana the way that she did, everything else aside, imo.

No, that's just to give Shepard a thought of who wants to lead the fire teams. you can't just tell Shepard the right answer. Hell JACOB will object to Miranda if everyone in front of him dies and he trusts Miranda. there might be competitiveness between them but nothing so catty as to call her out in front of everyone.Sgt Reed 24 wrote...

Ashley: Shepard, are you alright? You look like hell.
Shepard: I've had better days *sits down next to her, head cradled in one hand.*
Ashley: Back on Thessia... it was almost too hard to believe, isn't in. And that bastard, Leng, who the hell was he?
Shepard: A former N7 marine, Anderson had a few run-ins with him too. Kicked his ass, and now the bastard's kicking mine.
Ashley: Look. Shepard, we lost. Alright. Pining over what could have been is beyond the point right now.
Shepard: This lose could damn near cost us the War! Hell we could have ended the war if we just grabbed the VI and bolted!
Ashley: It's too late for hindsight now, and even if we did, Leng was still blocking our escape! We would have had to fought them eventually anyway! Besides, you said it yourself. Cereberus was there first! And Leng didn't exactly fight fair either.
Shepard: War doesn't have rules, Ash.
Ashley: No, he had a freaking gun-ship that destroyed the temple while we were still in it. The man's a coward, Shepard! He knew he couldn't take you on, so he got someone else to do the dirty work for him.
Shepard: It still pisses me off! I have never failed an assignment before, and the first time I do, it's one that couldn't afford the loss.
Ashley: Are you sure Cerberus didn't do anything to you?
Shepard: Oh for god's sake. I'm sorry Ash but you're gonna have to let that go eventually.
Ashley: I just remember my Commander as being a badass that didn't accept defeat so readily. So what? You win some you lose some. The guy I used to know didn't understand the meaning of the word 'Quit' and he didn't pine away in the corner, seething over a single defeat.
Shepard: There's only so much fight in a person Ash. No matter who they are or what they've done. There's always a limit.
Ashley: I know, Skipper. I know. That's why you have people following you, you're not in this alone
Shepard: Yeah. I know, and as much as this makes me sound like a selfish ******, I'm at the point where, I want to tell the galaxy to go f*ck itself. All the politics, all the backroom deals, all the concquences with trillions of lives riding on each. I'm sick of it. And I have to go to sleep every night knowing that they're all riding on me.
Ashley: *hugs him, comforting.* I know, and it's something a single man should have to deal with. But you're the one who'll lead us through. I believe in you, Shepard.
Shepard: *still holding her* I remember that line.
Ashley: It worked back then, didn't it? And if you want to toss a few punches, I'm pretty sure there's still a punching bag in the Cargo hold.
Shepard: That's not a nice thing to say about the Lieutenant.
Ashley: Skipper.
Shepard: Sorry. Thanks for the peptalk. *kiss her soundly* We're headed to Horizon next. Admiral Hackett wants us to investigate something there.
Ashley: Horizon? I thought that it was a safe-haven there. Sanctuary or some such.
Shepard: I'm gonna explain everything to everyone in the briefing room. Be there in 10.
Ashley: Aye, Aye. Skipper.

Of course they were... it's only common sense. Every species is going to look out for themselves first and foremost. Sadly not many people had common sense during ME1 it seems. They saw the suspicion of aliens on the ship and the bear/dog analogy as racism (or more specism) rather than what it actually was. Warning the Commander to use caution toward other species.

Yeah, I aside from Mars, the hospital, standoff, date and "culmination", I didn't really care for how they handled Ashley's romance. I had more conversations with Garrus and Vega than I did with Ash, which really sucks, since Ashley's my favorite character in ME, while I didn't care for Garrus till about midway through ME2 and Vega is...alright, I guess.
So much for "less squad members for more interaction", huh Cpt.Data?
Don't throw that line at my head, I created that one
Yeah, BW concentrated efforts on Liara, Vega (two guaranteed squadmates) and Garrus (who can die in ME2). The VS definitely gets the shortest end of the stick of the gang this time (again). ME2 characters get sidelined with exception of Mordin. It's a shame - lots of good opportunities wasted. For example, I wanted Miranda on board - for epic banter between Ash and her.
Nope. We don't have Miranda on board and we don't have epic banter with Ashley at all.
Well, with Liara, it's like BW was literally pushing her on you to romance her. I'm really not a big fan of her, I don't hate her, but I'm not really interested in her either. And she get's the better "romance" scene out of them all, which to me, is not fair at all.
Miranda, well, I was atleast satisfied with her role in ME3, but then again, I'm not really a big Miri fan either.
When it came to ME2 characters, I was more of Mordin and Zaeed guy. They just seemed the most interesting to me. And they did handle Mordin's role extremely well(My eyes actually watered when he died), though Zaeed's couldve been better.
Either way, they really shouldve treated it more like ME1 where it was more character driven than action. That's one of the peeves I had with ME2, and it was even worse in ME3.
The lack of character "interaction" we were promised and the horrible endings are what make, IMHO, ME3 the weakest of the series.
I wish I could "like" posts...
You have said pretty much everything I feel about Ash's role in ME3. It should've been like ME1 where she has something to say after your missions (ya know, like every other squadmate) ... and you should have actually been able to interact with her instead of just one or two lines with no responses.
I don't think ME3 is the weakest, simply b/c the gameplay is so much better (like I was playing ME2 last night and was like... oh god why can't I roll!!? why can't I switch cover!? WHERE'S MY MELEE!? lmao) but the treatment of Ash just makes me want to choose a different romance. Which was probably their intent all along. *cough* pick Liara *cough* <_<

I figured as much. He's forcing himself just to stand up in the debriefing. Liara in my opinion does deserve some sympathy, but for Shepard this is just the next in a long like of crushing defeats. I didn't much care if there was Dialogue, I just wish there was a scene where Shepard could visit her in the Obs deck and she'd give him a hug, or he could lie down with his head on her lap or something. No words, no nothing, just action.
That would have fit the mood perfectly.
