Annnddd..I'm back...but apparently in the Ashley Williams depression thread?

1. Poetry: I figure she used it a lot mainly because she didn't know another way of putting it, but she has seen more of life and matured a bit and maybe she just knows to express herself better. I don't see a reason for her to become a poetry spouting machine, grabbing every chance to fling some poetry in. It works because she uses it in moderation, and she still uses poetry in ME3, when it felt appropriate.

2.Boobs thing...Why mention this with Ashley?! Her character is completely intact, she at no point NEEDS boobs to draw your attention away from an awful/shallow character. She IS the old Ash, too much so in fact. We barely learned anything new about her and the maturing barely affected her. That's a more valid complaint IMO.

3. @Reed; I guess she doesn't say ass or something along those lines because she had to learn some diplomacy, and I can't imagine that'd work without her actively constraining what she says whenever she can. Although admittedly, that's not a great argument, but it makes some sense.

I'm with Brain on this. Ash is still Ash, just more mature. Sure, we may not have the dialogue conversations we want to have with her, but that doesn't necessarily mean she is not the same person. Same can be said for Shepard on Project Lazarus. He was rebuilt, but that doesn't mean he's not the same person either.

Ahhh yes development of the character called "Ashley" we have dismissed that claim

It's my only big complaint really, once the trust issues resolve it all feels like someone was checking off a list of boxes, aside from her probably getting over her xenophobia  (if you interpret neither her nor Shepard ever mentioning her stance on aliens that way) and more constraint and professionalism (Which isn't really worked out.) she's just touching old ground.

Now the old ground is great ground and the writer has made good use of that ground, bit it still remains old and very familiar.

If "mature" means "less talkative", then I want my immature Ashley back.

She's been trained to be an officer, Officers aren't usually gutter mouths. They're taught restrain and diplomacy. But it doesn't excuse the fact that she doesn't quite feel like Ash outside the Romance scenes.

Would we have gotten more dialogue if they hadn't used the single line method? Maybe...maybe not. We certainly would have had a larger variety of topics (which is good!), but I don't know if we would have had more dialogue. I would like to think we would've, but the ending has left me a fully fledged Bioware pessimist. :(

Her name isn't Liara that explains her lack of dialogue and involvement

@TNS

Yeah. Pretty much. I think what's worse is her fan-title is 'VS'.

I don't believe it's that she doesn't feel like Ash as much as that they didn't bother to put in different lines or atleast a different tone for a romanced Ashley. It could be seen as a bit of character progression, but they didn't bother progressing their relationship differently for a romanced Ash.

Most of her screen time Ash is just same old though.

I was talking to Data about this, is anyone bothered at how Shep flirts with Liara during auto dialogue almost like BW is trying to trick you into romancing her.

Disclaimer: I have nothing against anything Liara I actually really like her character, just not how she is favorited over everyone else

@TNS; I don't believe it's favoritism, it might simply be the writer, they apparently decided they didn't want these auto convo's to play out differently whether romanced or not, one writer wrote it with the romancing fans in mind, the other more in mind with those who might not romance her, or maybe was trying to keep it as neutral as he could.

Utterly. Headcanon gets f*cked to hell thanks to the auto-flirting with the blue chick. God, why can't Shepard auto-flirt with Liara. Ten bucks says Liara's gonna have an epic roll in the epilogue DLC too.

Garrus is a bro-mance. And an epic one. He's the closest friend next to Joker that Shepard's got. So I don't mind him having so much Dialogue, just wish they spent more on our Lady Williams. (No, not referring to myself. :P )

True. But she's at equal rank as Shepard. She should have some friendly connection to him as well, besides that, Lieutenant Vega is an officer as well and IS pretty much a "gutter mouth"

So I dismissed your claim :P

Ash should simply act like Ash when being alone with Shepard. And I definitely want an option to get her in Shepard's cabin permanently. For private, comforting talk and such

Hmmmm....

The only time where I think she crossed the friendship line would be when she essentially just barged into Sherpard's quaters with the time capsule. Granted, it was only marginal and I ddin't mind it at the time, but I would have appreciated a message saying she wanted to meet up to discuss something.

Other than that, I cannot remember if there was another occasion.

She does seem quite fond of Shepard, as does Tali, but I don't think they are throwing themselves onto him. What you are describing could be by design to make sure that the players know who they can romance. The term for such a thing in real life is 'Indicator of Interest' or IOI for short.  It is used to show that a person is available, so to speak.

Yeah. Or at least she could have had a scene after Thessia (like I stated yesterday) where Shepard's really down in the dumps and she could have actually done something to help him through it. Maybe a pep talk, or he's just there for physical comfort (Not intimate stuff), you know, just generally be there for him.

Hellfire: seems to be legit.
Liara simply appears to be "most available". And actually, I feel as if she's not paying much respect towards Ashley in case Ash is romanced and Shepard tries to rekindle that romance.

It's a matter of respect. Actually, that's not even Liara's fault, but a general issue in ME: whenever you run into a LI, you can easily get locked in. They don't ask you for your old relationship, it's not even hinted they might feel like "stealing you".
Especially Liara, Garrus and Tali should ask since they know about Ashley or Kaidan (if romanced).

No.
It bothers me more the loyal Ashleymancers didn't get much except some slightly altered dialogues.

They were lovers in ME1.
They almost became enemies in ME2.
And once they reunited ...
... they talk about love ...
... make love ...
... don't wanna let go ...
... but act like total strangers outside their love.

So to speak

Yeah, and if weren't for Kaidan, Garrus would be my FemShep's LI all the time.
