Uh, Being loyal through ME1, Cheating through ME2 or genesis Comic are the only three ideas I have. That, or you could have turned down her offer of spending the night together in one. Actually, thinking about it, that might be it. If you turn down her offer in ME1, Shepard's line of saying he was 'afraid to admit she was something he was searching for his whole life' might actually make sense. However, I'm not game enough to try it.

From that Shepard's perspective, he had/has feelings for Ash, but he was scared to act on them because he's a career marine. In all likelihoode's not used to intimate relationships - though he's obviously had intimate encounters before - he's a stoic individual that's not used to expressing his emotions or even acting on them. He follows his orders and completes his mission. Personal feelings aren't usually something he deals with.

And when he pushes Ash away that night, he's probably totally scared to hell that he was willing to consider a relationship with her. As stated the Eden Prime mission completely changed his life. He went from being a SpecTRe candidate to the man who saved the galaxy a half a dozen times over in a few short weeks (or months?). He and Ash get off on relatively good terms and at a late point it slams him in the face when he realises 'Oh ****. I actually have geniune feelings for her.'

So... I'm sorry, this tangent had a point... I've completely forgotten it now...

Oh. Well. To sum up. He was scared ****less of a relationship, but now it's end of the world/verse as they now it, he's pretty much decided 'F*ck it! I'm doing what I want!'.

Me neither. The romance scene with Ash in ME is my favorite and I would never turn that down. Most of the Ash ME3 romance vids have the same dialogue that most of us had, I.e., fighting invasion single-handed. The vid I linked to is the only time I've ever seen a differen line so it is much more rare than not. So it must be for something less than a "perfect" romance play through. Just bugs me what triggers it.

Edit: I bet you're right, if you didn't consummate the romance in ME then I could see him "being afraid.".  I emailed the video poster, we'll see if he responds and can remember.

oh god... don't remind me. I raged on some guy the other day b/c I kept getting kicked with my low level adept. How else are you going to level up if you can't play without being kicked?

I haven't been kicked at all. I guess I've just been lucky. I hear that if you venture into gold at all though, you run the risk of being booted for having a weapon that they do not like.

Feel free to add me on Origin if you like. The name is the same. :)

I am incredibly frustrated. I've been doing a second play through, making sure I did all the side quests and cut scenes I seemed to have missed the first time around (I seemed to have missed a lot of squad mate cute scenes). Thing is, I've just got to the point where I'm about to attack the TIM's base and I've realised that, somehow I've missed Ashley's side quest with her sister. Consequently, I've not had the date on the Citadel, so I guess we're not really, officially 'an item'. Basically this play through was a complete waste of time. I'm not completing the game without Ash by my side, and I'm too far along to go back and retry. God damn, how bloody irritating...

@Phobius9
That's why I make constant saves. One each before each special moment with Ash and right before missions so I can go back anytime

I wounder if Bioware understands that most of us are not complaining about Ashley's dialog because it was bad, we're complaining because it was so good it feels like parts are missing.

We're all a little miffed that parts were cut from the leaked script. I would honestly laugh my ass off if it was a glitch that kept the rest of her romance from activating. I seriously doubt that her romancing is only... what, three four scenes long?

@Data: I've got another dialogue wheel scene if you're up for it. Personally, I let the curious crew member be Ash.

I would take it, but I'm out of fascinating ideas, Clone :(

My head hurts tbh ... I can't get something on the screen. May need some time ...:pinched:

Aurora do you have a link to said parts from the leaked script?  I tried to avoid all of them (except the ending, thank goodness I was prepared for that).  Really curious to read what was left out, even if it was only "considered at one point."  Of if you can just post or PM the missing content that would be great.

I unfortunately don't have a link. I used to have a website, but it was removed and I did have a copy of the leak on my desktop, but I don't recall if I've deleted it or not.

That's really my biggest problem with the whole game. Not that there's parts I don't like, no game is perfect, but that the good parts are so good the bad parts feel like they were written by a different group of people.

No worries.  Do you remember any of it?  I watched the Liara romance scenes on YouTube last night, they were a little better than what we got (I would have loved to see Ash hold Shep's hand like Liara did).

I was REALLY hoping they'd set it up like Morrigan in DA:O where you always go up and kiss her whenever you want.  Seemed kind of cheesy after you rekindle the romance you talk to her and get a Zaeed style "Commander.". Really we just got back together after years, you possibly love me and all you tell me is hey.  I understand why they did that (development costs) but come on.   Not complaining too much though because they nailed the important part - not having to headcanon them getting back together or say I love you.

Actually, they were and the proof is pretty interesting to read, but to prevent locking of this great thread I'll not say anything else since bioware is claiming that proof was debunked.  Of course, there is a difference between "debunking" and "denying"...

Edit: Assuming you are talking about the ending of course.
