Bioware's tendency to present "clothed sex" is rather amusing.

ME series is rated for mature audience (or for viewers over 18 yo) so there is no reason to present those scenes in childish way. In ME 1 Ash "bedroom" scene was without underware, but at he same time it was it was not primitive. Good artists can show erotism without showing intimate parts of the body.

Witcher 2 pushed those boundaries further, although I do not think it would be appropriate if Bioware did the same with ME 3.

Still, if devs rate something as mature, then they should present intimate relations in mature way.

Well said sir or ma'am and I completly agree

You have to see it for yourself. Let me just say that the beauty of human body was shown in full extent (more than once) and in very mature way :P

I agree. I feel the gaming community can handle boobs, but developers are afraid to deliver. You can have the porn vs. art debate for hours on end, but at the end of the day, nudity is realistic in a game that aims to deliver immersive romances.

But oh well. I have mods made by some talented individuals such as this one. (NSFW warning. I censored the nips to avoid violating any forum rules, I know Americans are terribly afraid of boobs).

I believe the female body is beautiful and nothing to be ashamed of. In the future it will become more widely accepted in video games, just like how it has become accepted in movies and premium television. Until then, mods.

On topic, I want to work on some NON-NUDE Ashley appearance mods soon.

Of course we can handle boobs, but erotism is not nudity.

Erotism employs Your imagination, it doesn't have to show "everything". That's the main difference between erotism and porn.

Ash sex scene in ME 1 was beautifully erotic. Authors created perfect scene where we wished to be in Shepard's place but without resorting to primitivity.

I wish I could mod... MAKE IT HAPPEN ON CONSOLES DAMMIT! (Besthesda was hinting at wanting to allow this XD)

As for the nudity thing... sure, we can blow people heads off, but we can't see any boobs! :pinched:

I agree the scenes in ME1 were well done. But you can add nudity to the mix without losing artistic value, it can even increase it if done right. There are movies that do incredibly touching and artistic sex scenes that include nudity. I don't think it's "primitive". It all depends how you are looking at it and who is looking. Once again, porn vs art is an age-old debate. I believe the naked body can be used both ways. Nipples and all.

It doesn't effect the imagination. At least not for me. There is a lot to be left to the imagination. I'm not saying show in depth shots of the character's sexual parts, but a nipple isn't a deal breaker. Also, as observers we can only view it, so we must imagine all the other senses anyway.

Yes. Plus developer bias wrapped in a crispy layer of plot armor.

You are right of course. I didn't mean to say that nudity is always primitive or must always be porn.

I will gladly see nudity in mature-rated games such as ME series, but if devs are affraid of that they can stop at erotism.

Either way, it would be better if authors do not try to convince mature audience that having sex requires underware ;)

Agreed. I do see your point. If Bioware was to add nudity it would need to be done right.

If a younger person was to come across the current sex scenes in Mass Effect it may even lead them to practice abstinence.

"That's what sex is like? Laaaaaame."

To be fair. I thought Ashley's romance dialog was quite good.

Same here. I like Liara. I don't hate any squadmate. But I think all LI's should be given equal romances, or not be made romanceable at all.

I love how BW tries to lie and say nothing is canon. Why constantly Shepard flirts with Liara during auto dialogue

Liara would have a run for her money. She still does, even without nude scenes.

It was. To be honest, this is how I imagined this scene, after all they both went through. Dialog was mature in emotional terms and fits rather difficult romance (I still remember Ashley's behaviour on Horizon - forgiven, but not forgotten :P )

There is something amusingly dualistic in Bioware's writing - romance dialogs between mature characters are equally mature and proper. Following bedroom scenes are so inmature on the other hand.

I wonder why they changed their ways after ME 1.
