Yeah so after lurking for like a year and a half now, I get this random message from a fellow fan who saw an ancient post of mine in the original thread to come and show some support so here I am. ... So yay Tali and all that.

I think a Mass Effect MMO would be a brilliant idea instead of having future expansions for the ME series. I just love the idea of playing as a quarian (or a turian, or geth.) And then people like Tali could be NPC's based on whether they survived in your trilogy playthrough. (And have some canon NPC's for those who haven't played the ME series.)

I mean, the ME universe is such a massive place and is so rich on lore and creativity. Perfect for an MMO. But I guess Bioware are a bit busy on the Star Wars MMO they are bringing out.

Greetings Kentuckan! Good to see another Tali fan joining the forum! Posted Image

Reading your post makes me wonder just how many other people are 'lurking' in the background! I'm talking about you, the guy reading this. Yes, you! Posted Image.  There is no need to lurk. Come on in and say 'hi'! We want to hear about your opinions and ideas about Tali. Join in the debate! You know you want to! Posted Image

Dropping in to show my continued support for Tali as we race towards ME3. I've finally gotten around to replaying ME1 and working on ME2, this time not taking a relationship in the first game so that I can stay true to Tali. Keep up the good word of Tali here everyone.

Yeah I remember when these Tali threads were just wishful thinking and the forums were different. Anyway it's nice to see support going strong and I'm happy she'll be in our squads in the next game.

Now if you'll excuse me I must fade back into obscurity, or maybe I'll hang around for a while, I don't know.

I'd rather not see a Mass Effect MMO, as those types of games are computer only, and not for consoles. And I play on consoles. Also, I'm not a fan of MMOs.

I would love to play as a quarian or turian myself, just not in an MMO.

I have no problem with an MMO, and it sounds like a good idea. My only concern is that I don't play MMO's myself, or multiplayer games in general (I just don't find them interesting). I much prefer a single player game with a good story that I can play in my own way. If an MMO based on the ME universe is created, would that shut the door on future ME single player titles? Personally, I would much prefer the ME universe to be continued and expanded on as single player games.

Well why do you think that Liara seems to be BW poster girl or that at least that she can't die in any previous games? ../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png

It could just be so she can get to ME3, where she is integral to the plot. Potentially, she could also die in ME3, along with every other character.

In my view, if people wanted then not to survive the triology, it shouldn't prevent Bioware producing expansions for those who 'do' want the story to continue in that way, otherwise those few 'crazy people' (../../../images/forum/emoticons/tongue.png) who don't like Tali end up having the story they want, and it affects everyone else. If they don't want to see Tali survive, that is up to them, but should it affect everyone else?

Hmm, well I think that it's quite easy for BW to make these character specific DLC as if all of those characters would be alive. All they need to do, is mention that these particular DLC wouldn't work in saves, where subject is dead. This would also make it possible to paly that particular DLC in another save, where that character is alive.

And it's same with the question of was that particular character just Shep's friend or LI. If she/he was former then some parts of the DLC story or dialogue are different and if it was latter, then things are again different.

But question is does BW want to make that much effort.

It would be good to hear more views from people on what Bioware should do given the above situation.

Well this is wrong place for this subject if you want wider audience. You would need to post this same topic either to ME3 character and romance or general discussion section. But that thread would quite fast end up full of character hating posts, which is sad.

I see your point. However, I think if we take a slightly different path, we can find a solution to this. Ok, say we 'don't' allow direct control of current NPC's as a rule, but (again, taking the example of an ME expansion for Rannoch), you create your 'own' Quarian, in the same way as you can create your own Shepard. Tali would be an NPC, along with other Quarian characters like Reegar, Xen, Shala, etc. The game would take a certain amount of applicable decisions from an ME3 save game, including the LI status between Tali and Shepard (your Shepard could even have a part in the game as an NPC!). Your task as a (new) Quarian is to re-establish the Quarian civilization, protect them from rogue Geth elements, learn about Rannoch and what has happened over the last 300 years since Geth occupation.

In order to be less specific and gain a wider audience, you could have the expansion split into several sections, where you control a Quarian (Rannoch), a Turian (e.g.where you have a buddy-buddy cop theme with a human where you clean up the galaxy of criminal scum), a Krogan (e.g. a quest to rebuild after the Genophage and re-emergence of the Rachni), etc, and so they all have their own story arcs. This avoids the potential 'limiting' of sales, as there is something for everyone who is interested in some of the characters.

Well something like this could work much better. And you could still get chance to see your favourite characters. Though while this idea does make it less specific, it's still quite narrow view. And awful lot of work to do. You would first need to make it possible for players to create their own characters for every different story arc and then make interesting story for each of them. But if BW would be ready make that effort, it sure could be interesting game.

actually not so random,
i think it was me who invited you
I've listed and counted old thread users: 1425
then counted this thread: 279
and i ask myself where are the others?
started to PM 1146 people who did post old thread but not this one.
Posted half of them so far, but return rate is so poor:(

I'm not even sure what CZ is(I want to say something like Clan Zorah), but I'm a lurker by nature and I just come and go so I'm not really involved in any groups or the like.

@Web: Well me getting a message from anyone was pretty unexpected so for me it was pretty random. Anyway I would guess that most people who posted on old thread simply got tired of posting and moved on to newer pastures. Maybe you'll see a return of older members as ME3 draws nearer.

Could be because most have found refuge in CZ and don't like to dabble in the affairs of a new generation of insaitible fanboys and More Trolls than ever:pinched:

*edit* and we will prob see more of them when ME3 comes out

An MMO for ME3 would just degrade the game. You get the pricks from Gears of War and Halo into ME3 MMO and it'll just ruin the effect.

A local support system like what Bungie did with Halo ODST would be alright, campaign co-op only with some sort of horde/Firefight mode. The local support system would only allow your friends and their friends to play together, no random people with death matches and crap.

Co-op campaign would be in-game only, player 2 and 3 would choose either one of the characters like Tali, Garrus, Ash, yada yada. The game starts with Ash and Vega as your two starter squadmates so there wouldn't be a problem there. All dialog in-between battles would be done by the player 1 with his/her own Shepard.

Local only, no MMO

I guess that's some forum for the more dedicated Tali fans or something. I'm fine with just (stealthily)routinely checking in on the dedicated Tali thread here, plus I imagine the community here is a bit more varied. Anyway we're probably going off topic so we should get back to the subject at hand, Tali.

Well what I have heard from other older members in CZ is that there were some sort of dispersion in one point. Some of Tali fans left and then make even completely new Tali support place somewhere else, some just faded into the shadows and oblivion and some of them stayed here.

Since I'm here I may as well ask if anyone has spotted Tali in any ME3 videos or screenshots. I mean I know she's in the game as a squaddie and what not I just wanted to know if they made any real changes to her appearance.

I think I qualify for "Old Breed" too. I remember posting in the Tali threads quite a lot in the spring of 2010. :) I was invited by Webkahve too. Thanks mate! You're doing important work for a good cause!

I don't think I've seen a single familiar user name here yet, but maybe some day...

Anyways, TALI FTW!!! I love ya, girl...  Check out the song I've made and dedicated to Tali! It should be in my sig. Also, I've got some nice Tali-lovin' parts in my fanfic, which I stopped writing ages ago, but it's still up in my blog. GO READ!

Yeah, this is why I don't play MMO's or multiplayer games. In fact, it does highlight the difference between ME and other games. ME is more about story and characters. I think this is what has made the ME universe popular in the first place. We would likely lose all the personal interaction with NPC's (like Tali!) which is what made these games enjoyable in the first place. ME games have 'shooter' elements, but I don't think shooting is as much of a primary factor as other games, like CoD/Battlefield, etc. Judging by how the discussions on these forums have gone over the years, there seems to be an increasing interest in creating relationships and interacting with characters within games. I think turning away from this trend would be a mistake.

(Getting back on topic). I just wanted to make the point about the noticing the increasing interest players seem to have with creating relationships with characters. Characters like Tali seem to be at the forefront of this trend, and has helped bring it to the attention of the gaming world. I can't remember as much interest in finding out what 'Master Chief' looked like, compared to the interest in finding out what Tali looks like!

I watched a video that was like 20 mins or so long - I think it was on GameTrailers - in which a guy played through every single E3 Demo of ME3. I saw a glimpse of Tali in it, and I was so relieved just to see that she is in the game... It was a glimpse of less than a second, and I don't remember any changes in her appearance... But to be honest, I didn't even think about what she looked like (well, beautiful, of course ), I was just so happy to see her even for a fraction of a second lol.

Yes, Tali were in one of those vids, but she was still in her old ME2 suit. Though that was just because BW is going to make her somehow new suit. So, it's quite likely that Tali appearance is going to be changed from what it was in ME2.

Not a bad song. I like it.
