You're assuming they didn't drop off the civilians on Rannoch before taking the fleet to the battle. The Admiralty Board is pretty stupid (*cough*Gerrel*cough*), but not that stupid. Image IPB

I assume that their ships were fully battle staffed. That after the many attacks we've seen them lose people in there are more women than men. And that mostly only the kids and elderly stayed on Rannoch. And given their life situation, elderly can't be that many.

Okay, maybe 7 million?

I don't know... risking the civilian fleet in a pointless war against the geth while the reapers are invading the galaxy is pretty stupid in my book.

And he shot at a ship that had Shepard and Tali on board! Even my pure paragon Shep punched the guy. Image IPB

I don't remember her talking about why humans were attracted to her.

She had a line like "It's always the same: 'Ooh, she's so vulnerable, she could get sick. I wonder what she looks like behind the mask?'"

It was unclear if she was talking about humans in particular or any non-quarian who tries to hit on her.

Yeah, but I didn't really interpret that as her describing why she thinks non-quarians are attracted to her, so much as what they usually say or how they act.

Well anyway all the humans she has met seem to be real wankers, but anyway most people would agree that any other Quarian would not be a substiute to Tali :D

Unless they can outdo the commander in heoric galaxy saving, I don't really think they'd have a chance with her.

This, and desperate.

Gerrel is the Quarian answer to captain Ahab.

I meant  from a fan perspective, I would say most Tali fans are mostly indiferent or unmoved by most of the other Quarians in the game, Tali is a unique character and I don't know how they could have a Quarian character in any potential future Me media that is not either a Tali clone or uninteresting.

So the message of the Quarian-Geth conflict is "You cannot take revenge on a sentient machine"?

There are 17mln quarians in total before the war. For there to be 7mln women on the fleet at earth you pretty much have to assume that all quarian women are military.

Considering the number of ships in the fleet (50,000 before the war with the geth), losses incurred during the war with the geth, and the number of crew on military ships in ME, I'd be surprised if more than 2mln quarians total came to earth. And then there's losses during the fight with the reapers.

I can't agree with that. ME has several interesting quarian characters besides Tali, such as Reegar and Xen (she's crazy, but still an interesting character).

Stupid or suicidal. Anyone that shoots at Shepard (or a ship he's on) must be one or the other. Well anyone that shoots at Shepard and isn't a very good friend anyway.

EDIT: Messed up quote trimming damn it.

Yeah, but she's not Jack-crazy, she's crazy-scientist-crazy, and has no morals at all. So she's also extremely dangerous.

Tali is the best we meet, yes. But there must be more Quarians having at least some of her spirit. This must come from something.

Was anyone else disappointed by the lack of interaction with Xen? I was expecting her to be more of a problem/antagonist in the game than she turned out to be. As it was, she was barely even there.

Since about every ship of theres has been militarized during the new Geth war, and since every Quarian is fighting for every other quarian ideally, I believe I'm closer to the truth. Whatever. 2 million, then 1 million women, let 500.000 survive, still enough to maybe find somebody who can be special to me, right?

For the Tali quota of 1:17000000 is a bit hard...if that is true...

There's almost 4 billion women on this planet currently. Some of them are bound to be as cute as Tali. Holding out for a quarian doesn't seem logical to me. Image IPB

Just a matter of experience...considering alternatives to very unsuccessful runs, combined with being rather struck by their primary advertisement of awesomeness...

Now, I won't get into a long ethical debate about synthetics vs. organics, co-existence and all that, I'll just say I personally choose to destroy the geth.

But that's not why I sympathize with Gerrel, Gerrel is too rash from a strategic point of view, like wanting to destroy that dreadknought ASAP, even though Shepard and Tali were still aboard. But I understand his desperation, we wouldn't like being space nomads either, we'd want Earth back just as desperately if it was us.

Wow, lots of time zones on this thread. It's 10 AM here. Also, it shouldn't be "I must go" it should be "I should go."

Does anyone remember the Quarian and the Turian in the cafe/bar on Illium in Me2? And her cynical reasoning why humans are attracted to her were a bit close to home perhaps? ^_^

I don't remember her talking about why humans were attracted to her.

Was related to the mystery and the whole "omg you can die if out of the suit"  vulnerability thing.  That gal was damn shallow, like the anti-Tali.

Well, we'd probably be annoyed if we were always approached for the same reasons, that are themselves superficial.

Some of the other bits of conversation too makes it seem like that.  I feel for the Quarians in general throught the games.  Their ancestors made a mistake and now their children are paying for it in many ways.  Really the way the rest of the galaxy responded kind of pisses me off.

Racism and false stereotyping in general pisses me off. So yeah, wasn't too happy with that C-sec officer harassing that Quarian accused by the Volus. Shame there was no renegade "shoot his ugly head off" option.

People are quick to believe stereotypes, regardless of whether or not if they are true.  If people think that Quiarans are suit rats, people will mindlessly fall in line.  If people think Asari are all beautiful and lovely, people will fall for that too.

Don't get me wrong, all form of organic life has both good and bad people.  The quarians are no exception to that rule.  While the quarians share unusual respect and trust among some, they won't hesitate to do what it takes to survive.  I am surprsied though that I have not encountered even one quarian enemy that is either just being bad or reaper-turned.

Gerrel is an idiot, who throws away his whole race for a futile war in a time, where a much bigger threat is looming on the horizon.

On the one hand you can say they should have been more careful, on the other hand they were probably working in uncharted territory. On the one hand you can say it might have been wrong to try and wipe out the geth, but on the other they could have been right about an inevitable Geth revolt.

It's a sticky subject because we don't know all the details.

It was hardly futile until the Geth received Reaper aid, which they saught because the Quarians were winning. I doubt they could have anticipated the Geth receiving this aid. Also, we don't know if the war had already been initiated before the Reaper invasion.
