She only had to if you chose the geth, as opposed to choosing the quarians or choosing peace.

Sorry, Tali aside, most of the Quarians are D-bags and the Geth were a much better asset (ideally I'd like to have kept her) but it screwed up my "true" playthrough back in ME2 with using Miranda instead of Jack for the shield.

Being stranded sucks period, but especially if you're used to technology and extreme mobility, which is another reason the ending sucks, it dooms your surviving crew to cabin fever and insanity, or utter loneliness, imagine EDI or Liara having to out live everyone else... ugh.
