Watching a recording of the ME3 livestream, I picked up on how it was said that characters can disapprove of your actions (nothing new) and leave you...and you might be forced to fight them even.
Applied to Tali, I wouldn't be surprised if she left your squad if you side with the Geth or made some decision to the serious detriment of the Migrant Fleet.
You wouldn't happen to have a link to that recording, would you? (haven't seen any of the new ME3 ComicCon videos yet)
If this whole "permanence" issue for ME3 squadmates (which BioWare is incessantly dragging their feet in explaining about...) is based on the player's choices and decisions in the game (as well as possibly the loyalty missions from ME2), then that will be pretty much what I had hoped the squad system of ME3 would be and it would be something I could tolerate and accept because those elements would be decided from MY choices and decisions throughout the series.
My biggest fear right now is that such choices as to who is or isn't in your squad will be taken away from the player's control and instead be predetermined by BW writers' preferences. If they write some sort of "convienence" of a plot point where Tali is a member or your squad for parts of the game, only to leave the Normandy permanently without the player having any choice or decision available to keep her on the squad, I really will lose it

Tali, just like Garrus, has been a member of Shepard's team from the very beginning and was one of only two squadmates to be with Shepard for both ME1 and ME2 - in that sense, they are just as imporant as Liara or the VS (and in my opinion, even moreso), and their roles to the story and to Shepard's team should not be neutered from the game just because BW shot themselves in the foot by making every character in ME2 killable. <_<
