If she wants to adopt, she will adopt.
If she wants nothing to do with children, she won't have to deal with them, unless garrus has kids and brings them over.

Theyd certainly have to be called qumans. The alternative is huariansImage IPB

Out of curiosity, how many people flirted with kelly just so she could feed the fish?

*Raises hand*

Also, about Shepard/Tali babies, the genetic engineering they must have at that point  would no doubt allow them to mimic some features. For instance if we say it was Sheploo and Tali having a Quarian baby, the babies genes could be manipulated so that they had blue eyes like Sheploo's.

Not me.

"Please, call me Kelly"

"****ing NO, Yeoman."

I get overly irritated at that part, for some reason.

Nothings impossible. Shepard WILL have Tali babies. Life will find a way

It's about as likely for an Iguana and an Emu to have offspring. In fact, it's less likely than that, because at least the Iguana and the Emu have the same amino acids and the same DNA structure. Image IPB

Genetic modification. That could work. MORDIN! WE NEED MORDIN!

Genetic modification can do a lot of things, but Tali's DNA doesn't have the same base pairs or the same amino acids as Shepard's. The amount of modification necessary to make it bond with human DNA would be so extensive that for all intents and purposes it would have nothing to do with Tali anymore.

Tali's DNA probably doesn't have the same number of chromosomes. It won't have the same active and junk DNA portions. It won't have the same information in the same places. It will have some information that we have no analogue for, and completely lack information that human DNA does have (like stuff regarding the immune system).

Heck, we don't even know if Tali's DNA uses a double-helix structure (not all species in ME have that).

"Genetic modification" in this case would amount to writing quarian DNA from scratch with traits that are sort like Shepard's, just making stuff up when there's no equivalence. It wouldn't be truly both their child any more than if they'd adopted.

Oh wait, I have a Quarian version of that.

They could have 4 fingers, 4 toes, and fixed immune systems. But 3 fingers is just so adorable. So just make some quarian DNA with shep's alleles, and a better immune system. And then babies. Mutant quman babies. With tali. Image IPBImage IPB

I did. Strangely, some of the fish died from Scale Itch. Implications... unpleasant. Image IPB

Not to mention making such genetically engineered hybrid might not be exactly fair to the child itself, with regards to fitting in, unexpected health problems and having offspring of it's own some day. If it was possible, that is.

But cringing? No, not at this part. Other parts, yes.

The only thing asari are good for -- making it clear that in a couple million years quarians will be able to have babies wtih humans no problem.
Now we just got to figure out how to get Shep and Tali to survive that long..

Even asari don't cross-breed in a strictly biological sense, as the child contains none of the genetic information of the father and is not a hybrid between the species.

The helicopters I flew on were open cabin, non pressurized.... That would have been bad for my health.

**added note: I think the closest approximation I can come up with for an analogue for what it would be like wearing a Quarian envirosuit would be aircrew NBC gear. Quite possibly the most uncomfortable thing ever, not to mention the first time I wore one was in high heat/high humidity Okinawan air... Absolutely awful. I'll spare the details.
