Also, never had scotch.  Will have to try it at some point...

It's tasty. Johnnie Walker Black Label would be my personal recommendation. No emergency induction port needed.

No I've never done any drugs. Never smoked, never gotten high, never really done anything like that.
Tried drinking once, but the effects were... Less than favourable.

I approve of this.
And so does Tali.

Tali is straight-edge.

Well... she was before the mission on sanctuary.

Oh yes, some of the fanfiction I've read is pretty good.  One of my favorites is 'A Gentle Breeze Before the Storm'.  Even though it took place after the events of Mass Effect 2, its still pretty good, and rather detailed.  I've merely only thought at starting a unique fan fiction that has interactive choices, in case the worse case plays out.

Hmmm interactive fanfiction (talimancin).
Now THAT is something I would be interested in writing and/or reading. It's been tugging at the corners of my mind as well. =]

it was a one time thing. I doubt she'll repeat it.
Unless, of course, shepard dies.:? then she may never be sober... ah. let's just stop there.

It was certainly a unique scene; I never expected to see her drunk given that she was a quarian.  Though for me, the scene tends to have less value than it does to others.  It does give a unique insight though, as she states her father would have hated Shepard if he knew Tali was dating him.  However, she's lucky his father is dead; I would have railed his ass with renegade responses and interrupts if I saw him alive.  I may have even shot him if I had the chance, although given what happens to characters when they are renegade shot in Mass Effect 3, I probably wouldn't try.  Plus, I think Tali would break off the relationship if I shot her father with no due reason.

Here's something else I want to know.

On the covers of ME1 and ME2, there were two "poster" squadmates who Bioware thought would be the most popular.

With Garrus, they turned out to be right. Ashley, Miranda, and arguably Thane? Not so much.

But with Garrus and Tali, they have become THE definitive Mass Effect squad. Not just to Tali and Garrus fans, either. In Mass Effect 2 and 3, they are the only Squadmates who are there for you the entire way. In Mass Effect 2, for the Suicide mission, THEY are the two most obvious and capable squadmates for the beginning.

Tali, your resident Tech Expert, is the only real option for going through the pipe (Unless you got the DLC, in which case Kasumi qualifies for being an expert at infiltration).

Garrus is also the only real option for the Fire Squad for being the only one besides Shepard to have ever effectively led a squad before (Just as effectively as Shepard).

And with my Male shepard, it bottles down to "Tali is my love, Garrus is my best friend and second in command." Reverse that for Femshep.

So here is my question.

Why in the heck are they not on the cover of Mass Effect 3 with Shepard?! It's the big finale. They are THE Mass Effect Squadmates!

It doesn't bother me in the least bit. Edit: But I DO wish it was more cinematic like Ash's!!! :pinched:

It was nice to see her let her hair down. Alcohol I approve of (in moderation). Other drugs not so much, though I myself am still addicted to nicotine (though not in the form of smoking or [ugh] dipping). I don't know why this would be a point of contention for people.

The covers have always been about what's marketable.

The marketing guys typically want three things: (male) Shepard, a cool alien (Garrus in the first, Thane in the second), and an attractive human female (Ashley in the first, Miranda in the second).

Of course, by the third one, Shepard was recognizeable enough where they didn't need anyone else. But it all boils down to marketability. They don't make the cover art for current fans--they're already going to buy it. They make the cover to attract people who don't really know anything about the game, so they play it "safe."

I didn't mind it at all.  I actually enjoyed the way it played out, as it was a nice mix of comic relief and character depth.  Miranda lived in my game, so it seemed that when Tali got drunk, it was more out of trying to drown her own demons rather than being upset about Miranda.  Like, the experience with Miranda put a crack in the dam holding back all her own issues with her father and her vindictiveness towards everything she's been forced to deal with.  Getting drunk then blew the dam wide open, and served as a catalyst for great character depth and development.

Personally I do not partake in any activities with the consumption of alchohol (or drugs), and I would be happy if Tali had the same mindset.
That said, I wasn't angry about it. As long as she doesn't do it all the time, i guess.

Thanks, Jack, for coming along and contaminating the Rayya with hair follicles and skin flakes. I'm really glad that a full suit was so uncomfortable and restricting for you that you felt it was necessary to endanger the lives of thousands to satisfy your comfort.

I really wish the option to keep Tali's father alive was available in ME2. I would've loved to see how the geth/quarian conflict would've turned out if her father was still an admiral instead of her. Would he have been ok with peace? Could Tali convince him if he wasn't? Plus being a overprotected father and seeing if he really does hate Shepard! Argh the scenarios would be priceless..../sadface why you die!

Not sure if I'd be able to live on Rannoch for a long time unless there's plenty of a/c.

Did you guys know (on the xbox 360 version) you can flip the cover on the game case around to have the female Shepard displayed?

and I wish Tali was on the cover

If my Shepard is anything like me (which I'd imagine he is), he and Tali would find enjoyment at the end of each evening with their drinks of choice while watching Tikkun set over the horizon.

For playing it safe though....just having "some guy standing there" on the cover doesn't do much for Marketing.

The first game showed a classic movie poster style (think the original STar Wars posters) showcasing the universe and its characters.

Second game showed Shepard and two squadmates in the heat of battle, showcasing how Mass Effect was going in a more action-oriented direction.

Then ME3 just has him standing there ominously which shows....nothing.
