The problem regarding Tali and her dad is that she ended up living not her own life but the life he wanted for her. Her father was probably like one of those sports dads that makes their son go into sports even if the kid hates it because the dad thinks it is what should happen.
She never wanted to be the Admiral's daughter. She never wanted to have to be the one making decisions for the entire fleet but because of her father she had to both clean up his mess and live up to his legacy which she nearly or did sacrifice her own reputation and life in the fleet for. In a sense she feels much of her life has been decided without her input by her father. It's not about rules it's about freedom to be herself. One of the reasons she falls for Shepard is because he doesn't expect her to be anything more than herself, and he actively not only supports her but shows unconditional trust in her, plus he shows affection and a willingness to defend her (the trial) on a level no one did before, not even her own father in the past.

I for one think it's ok for Tali to smile, unlike these people who equate a smile to rapists.
They only like the ones that make her look like a piece of ***, so it's understandable that they wouldn't like one as normal and non sexual like yours.
They prefer to stare at leather crawling up her buttcrack than an actual normal emote. XD

It's a good painting, I just thought it was knida funny that the facial expression kinda vaugely resemled the rape face.
It's infinitely better than that lazy stock photo photoshop though.

I didn't think she was entirely in her right mind XD. That, and I considered what she was saying more based on emotion about select events rather than the whole relationship, which is clearly illuminated in ME1. (The problem being the double-edged sword of a close community rather than a singular relationship)

You are almost overzealous about any pic that shows her butt, I'm sorry to say.
I like her face and her butt. Not because I'm some horny pervert, but because BOTH ARE NICE WITHOUT BEING OVERLY SEXUALIZED. (Not yelling, just too lazy to use italics)
It's her breasts just...hanging out there in her second suit that I'm actually against. Her first suit didn't emphasize them so much, they were kinda covered up.
I do agree that I like seeing pics of her smile, though.

Exactly. I'm more into personality as well (or else I would have gone for *shudder* Miranda or Diana).
Just so happens that Tali has the kind of hips/butt that I'm into. And I'm very picky, if that helps put things into perspective.

The thing about Tali for me is her personality is an instant draw, but as a guy I see a butt or set of hips my eyes will be drawn to check it out almost instinctually. Simple biology really.
As for her face, I am basing my comments on the in game picture we do see. I take that as her canon face now so anything else has to compare against that. The picture is good but can use some improvement, it was constructive criticsm, I hope it is taken as such.
