I've been out of the loop for a week or so and have missed pretty much all of the SDCC chat. Is there anything new on the Tali front? Did we get to see/hear from the lovely Liz Sroka?

Thanks folks ^_^

Its cool that Bioware listens to their fans and wants input on how to make the experience better for the
player, instead of force feeding us garbage. Thats why we stay loyal, and they know it.
In regards to tali's possible suit modification I would like to change the color of her visor. along with a civilian type suit when not in battle.

An interesting idea, but probably not feasible given the limitations of the envirosuit. Maybe their could be some detachable armor plates or something, to differentiate between business and pleasure :)

Im thinking when tali's alone with shep she could lose the armor, ammo and storage. All you have is tali in her suit with the fabric draped around her. that would be rather nice.

Well lets see... those belts attach to that harness on her back, it's either for shields, weapon storage, or both... it looks sorta like web gear. Then there's the pouches on her forearms and upper arms that are probably removable... So maybe just get rid of those accessories when in a non-combat situation.

EDIT: Another scene I'm working on for Mass Effect: Break the Cycle... Feros.

Shepard glanced around at the others.  "Alright, we don't have enough grenades to do this properly.  I'd rather not kill the colonists if we can help it."

Wrex grumbled while Tali nodded.  Liara just looked distant and Shepard couldn't tell if it was fear, worry, or some sort of guilt.

Garrus's mandibles flared for a moment. "Anyone have any brilliant ideas?"

"Wrex, Liara, Kaiden, can you use your biotics to disable them, bash them hard enough to knock them out but not hard enough to kill them?" Shepard asked, his mind already trying to remember how to limit the strength of his biotics.

"It seems like a lot of bother to save these nobodies." Wrex muttered.

Shepard glanced at the hulking krogan while Tali glared at him. "Consider it a challenge."

Wrex snorted. "Good enough I guess.  I assume we're still allowed to blast these… creepers."

"Hell yes." Shepard said and a number of the team laughed while Liara just looked confused.

Tali tapped her omnitool and omnigel began to harden into a tech mine.

"Alright stack up." Shepard said as he slid along the stone railing of the stairs to the bottom flight and stopped there.  Just behind him he heard Tali's omnitool beep and glancing back to her she removed a tech mine from it and held it at the ready, her pistol readied in the other hand.  Garrus was just behind them, his hands clasped around his assault rifle.  The others were lined up ready to rush into the colony's entrance.

Shepard nodded to them as he pulled a grenade from his belt and heard the automatic system begin work on configuring its replacement.  Then he stepped around the corner and flung it as gun fire lit up the hallway.  He rushed forward and dropped behind a fallen block of stone and tapped his omnitool activating the grenade with a flash of green smoke.  Two of the colonists dropped, disabled as Tali's tech mine spun past, hitting the improvised barricade that two of the colonists used for cover.  Then it flared with red electricity that danced over the colonists.  The familiar beeping sound of overheat warnings replaced the rumble of gun fire and Shepard smiled just as Tali ran past him, leaping over a fallen stone column and then slamming bodily into one of the colonists, knocking him off his feet.

Garrus ran out, and swung his assault rifle like a club, smacking one of the colonists in the head, bowling them over onto the ground unconscious, a large welt already beginning to form on her cheek.  As the rest of the squad runs out into position creepers rush forward, moaning. Wrex shoves his shotgun into the gut of the nearest one and pulls the trigger showering the party with green gore as Ashley fires a shotgun of her own into a second one, knocking it back bleeding green.  A second later a second round smashes into it, tearing it apart.

Shepard stood and followed them.  This was a team, strong and dependable.  A smile slid across his face until he heard the sound of a struggle behind one of the barricades.

Wrex turned to look and rumbled a laugh. "The quarian… typical."

Tali was atop a struggling colonist, her hands gripped around his rifle trying to rip it from his grasp.  As John watched she slammed her visor into the colonist's forehead and he went limp.  Wrex laughed hard and pointed. "That's the spirit."

Tali stood up and stumbled a bit, blinking hard.  She rubbed her visor. "Oww…"

"Alright, let's finish this." Shepard said as he walked past her and shook his head a grin upon his face.

Yeah, i've been thinking lately
why does Tali and all the quarians have their faces invisible through their visors? The suits are only to protect them from all the infections right?

I believe if its for privacy, but I don't remember exactly when that's mentioned in-game or in one of the books.

Considering their eyes glow... They may be adapted to much lower light conditions, hence tinted visors. That's what I usually run with. The exact color might mean something like eye or skin color but that's just speculative.

For privacy? I don't think so.
As for their glowing eyes then i don't really know. Their eyes at least glowing if they are more visible than the skin.

I still say it's eyeshine from tapetum lucidium... you know, how foxes, racoons, cats, dogs, wolves, and all sorts of other animals have light up eyes in dark environments.

Due to the cramped space on the flotilla the visor is tented so Quarians can have some personal privacy.

Eh, I think Tali's "I watched" speech is better if you kill the colonists. If you save them the flow of it is kind of disturbed.

Considering their parent star was more red than Sol it may have been slightly dimmer, meaning Rannoch would be darker and having their eyes catch light like the animals you listed would make sense.

This is actually a question that's been tossed around since the very first Tali thread, and there've been a lot of theories suggested, but there's no real concrete answers.

The tinting may be some sort of protection against eye sensitivity, though glowing/reflective eyes isn't necessarily proof of that being true. Quarians being a race of engineers, it might (at least, at first) have served a practical use, simillar to a welding mask. Maybe a certain level of tinting is required to project the HUD-like systems Quarians use to observe their suit's status. Though, in my mind, what's most likely is simply that it's a perpetuated cultural practice. Tali herself said that for Quarians, showing one's face is one of the most intimate things someone can share. Maybe on Rannoch, their faces were veiled in some other manner. Or maybe their original envirosuit helmets were clear, though even in being clear, obfuscated their features to some degree (in the same way that a motorcycle helmet with a clear visor still hides your face somewhat). After generations of being trapped in their envirosuits, publicly seeing each others faces slowly became a social taboo, and eventually developed into the tinting we see today.

At the end of the day, however, it's all pretty much conjecture. All we can really do is hope for some answers in ME3, and in the mean time, keep our minds open to the possibilities;)

Yeah.

"If it were just me? I watched you tear into the Thorian on Feros like a force of nature, nothing could slow you down."

That's a good line. If you save the colonists she doesn't say 'I watched.'

Ironically the Renegade speech doesn't mention the colonists so I can easily go... and use that. Both lines are good though, I think Saphra just prefers the renegade approach to most things.

Honestly... by the time you're facing the Thorian I expect Shepard to be rather pissed... especially if he has to bend over backwards to keep from killing colonists. Frustration and all that.

So tempted to write just the Haestrom mission and release it as a block... Funny, looking at the missions in ME2, most are basically fighting mercs. Only when you're doing Haestrom, Alarei, and the Collector Missions does it seem like you're in a difficult struggle.

Since Mercs are fighting for pay....and getting paid usually requires that you are alive...

You'd think they'd take a hint and start running away screaming once they find out its Shepard coming after them. Not to mention that he's bringing along a certain deadly shield draining shotgun wielding Quarian with him, a person whom we all know and love :P

"Oh nevermind it's just a quarian..." The merc said as he lowered his shotgun. "Funny I've never seen one with a swirl patte..."

A dart shoots from her omnitool flashing past him before activating into a holographic orb of glowing purple light. A human and a turian step up beside her brandishing weapons. The merc stares...

"Son of a ****!" The clatter of an assault rifle, the crack of a sniper rifle, and the boom of a shotgun follow shortly after.

EDIT: Reasons why Tali beats most engineers.

1. She doesn't toss drones into the air, she shoots them to the other side of the room behind the enemy.  *snickers*
2. Shield Draining rocks.
3. She kept the old tech mine program in her omnitool... and loaned one to Shepard to destroy the collector base.
4. She runs with Garrus and Shepard, come on... if you do you must be one of the best in the galaxy.

The mercs are more like nationless armies. They keep fighting because you keep killing their friends and that pisses them off.
