Honestly, there was something there for me at freedoms progress, But it didn't really amount to anything until Talskis loyalty mission. To see her so fragile and broken crushed my heart.

The moment I talked to her in ME2. Had completely forgotten about her as I hadn't played ME1 in ages xD Dat voice, dat personality. HHHNNNNGGGGG.

I always liked her, and always thought there was some sort of crush (or admiration) for shep, but it didn't manifest until ME2

Ofc she was cute from the very beginning, ^^ in my case I was quit happy with Liara and when she dropped me in ME2(no DLC that time) and I meet Tali again, she got more and more important to me.
But your are right, her loyalty mission, really crushed my heart as well. I would have died if there wouldn't have been a paragon interupt to hug her, when she is sitting next to her dead father crying =(

Honestly at the beggining of ME2, my LI thougths were with Miranda. Human, nice physiognomy. I always thought about Quarians as mechs, I mean I didnt spend much time reading codexs, but at the time I was playing and getting inside this world, my point of view about quarians start to change.
Tali's personality plus the dialoges and the loyalty mission push me next to her at the point that Miranda stay in Normandy while Tali were next to me in every single mission.
Now I won't romance any other character, Tali is Shepard complement, they need each other, they were design for that purpose, Miranda is just a barbie, silicone everywhere, design to be perfect. Tali is not perfect but as I said is Shepard complement. Liara..... nah, every single specie in ME wants an asari forgetting quarians females.
So basically Tali earns a very special place in my gamer heart at the point that no matter how many times I'm gonna go through the series, Tali is gonna be at my side ALWAYS.

Tali has been a squadmate in every single game, the only other person who can say that is Garrus and well i'll just say i won't be romancing Garrus anytime soon, so Tali is a special character in my opinion.

Tali is incredible strong, so many bad things happened to her and she always got through it and she is the only one who trusted Shep from the very beginning.(exept Anderson) And there is so much during ME to give back to her.

I agree, I almost cried when I saw her suicide scene on YouTube, I'll always either get both quarians and geth or pick quarians and kill Legion because I can't bear to see Tali commit suicide.
