After several battles against myself I decided to start my second playthrough, after which priority mission does the quarians show up?

Citadel II (i.e. the coup), right after Tutchanka.

Which is a loooong way in. You don't have to do all the N7 missions before that, but you loose some minor resources by leaving them. You'll want to do the timed missions though (The Tutchanka bomb and rescuing the scientists are I think the only ones that will expire before you can pick up Tali). Make sure you don't do the Grunt/Rachni mission without Tali!

Even skipping everything I could it still seemed to take ages when I did it.

Sadly I went throught that already and I regret it, anyway I saved the mission so I can go back and do it again. I didn't want to lose the mission, didn't know if it was a priority or a N7 mission. I want to go with Tali to Rachni and see her reaction because the spiders lol

But when you get there...totally worth it

Does annoy me that you can't get tali in ME2 or 3 until fairly late on...makes me said

Take Javik as well if you have him. He has some interesting lines about the Rachni. Not as fun as Tali's lines, but interesting anyway.
