I want more snuggling, intimacy, and a REAL DATE for tali in ME3. Eating at a specialty quarian restaurant, anyone? Dextro steak. I'd help her cut it. Tali hasn't had much practice with human utensils. Image IPB

Im up for it.  I've got all the credits I need.  I hope Tali has a bit of a appetite...and I hope she doesn't get overwhelemed by the food choices.

I enjoyed writing it, and was pleased with the result, esp. as i'd never wrote any fanfic or sci-fi stuff before

Its rather long, something like 4-5000 words, so bear with it, and hopefully you'll enjoy it!

Let me know what you think! Hopefully, its what you guys would love for an ending!

But how is th-... ARGH!
It's a mission, not a date! It just has some romantic overtones if you DO romance her.

I am not sure how you top giving your girlfriend her world back, seems pretty much epic to me.

Epic yes, but it still would have been nice to get a non-mission critical date with her on the citadel where you get to "hang out". Mainly I'm just railing against the one measely conversation we get. Granted, it could've been much much worse (ie. Jacob, etc.) but still. Hey, it could've integrated that bit to get the part so the engineers won't fry when the systems are under extreme strain... Which did nothing in the game actually that I am aware of.

Accept that Tali has flaws.  It is part of her charm.

Of course she has flaws and is very charming:lol:... Its just that I can't see it as being on the same level as racism. You'd kill a dog to save a human without a second thought and a drop of guilt. It's not racism, not to me anyway.

A dog is not sentient, the Geth are.

If you do the Geth mission, you know that the Quarians don't have the whole story on their exodus and have constructed a lie to better serve their situation.

I haven't formed an opinion on this subject yet (because I haven't read everything you guys have been discussing yet), but I want to point out that it's not actually clear cut about dogs lacking sentience. I was reading quite a good popular science book recently, 10 things science can 't  answer (yet) by Michael Hanlon, and one of the 10 things is about sentience (the chapter is called "Is Fido a zombie". It makes a compelling argument for how badly defined sentient life really is. A later chapter makes a similar point about life in general. Really an eye opener. It would take posting the entire chapter to demonstrate why, but suffice to say it's not quite so clear cut to say a Dog is sentient (I'm more of a cat person myself, so I don't say this out of love of dogs....wolves maybe, but that's another mater). So when you look at machine sentience it get's really reallty hazy.

But anyway, as I said, not...ah, achieved consesus yet on the subject. :)

Yes and Machine are not organics and frankly I love Organics 1000000000000000time more then Machines.

I agree. It is epic, but what is so great about the other dates is they are not about anything but your relationship with that character. Your not sharing a moment with Garus on Palaven while fighting Reapers, it's you and him isolated from everything shooting at bottles. It's that deeply intimate date that is missing from Tali's romance. I'm not taking anything from the great stuff that is there, but it's a pity not to get the personal moment. Especially as you get so little time with Tali in ME3 compared to the other crew members (yeah I know, you get loads more then the new ME2 characters, I accept that).

Her poor nutrient pasteImage IPB adapted tummy probably can't handle much solid food at once. Though, in my headcanon, nutrient paste also contains a gel that expands and solidifies in the digestive tract, so you don't die in a month of liquid diet. Weaning her onto real food shall be a long, delicious, and adorable journey.

Dogs have some kind of intellect, but they are not on the same level of humans or they have not shown that same level of cognitive capability or the ability to construct complex objects/ideas. Obviously they have minds but they don't exactly exhibit culture or complex social groupings. They can communicate but such communication does not seem to allow to the expression of complex ideas outside of whatever basic needs/instincts the animal is trying to satisfy.

Meaning dogs are not sitting around making poetry or tools or paintings. Maybe they could, but they are not. All evidence suggests that they have an intellect but is so many factors below human beings that we do not consider them to be intelligent, or at least as intelligent as human beings.

Geth may not have a culture per se, but they are capable of self determination, forming a consensus, acting on and constructing complex ideas/tools and can understand their own "mortality". Geth are highly intelligent and capable of expanding beyond the protocols they were created for.

I think the only thing you care about is Tali, if Tali were a Geth you would love synthetics just as much.

I also think my conclusion in the mater is that arguing with iwillkillfortali about Tali is like crashing the Normandy into a planet size ice cream and then getting out and doing the robot. It makes no sense, is strangely tempting, but ultimately get's you nowhere and leaves you with an upset stomach. Lol.

No offence :D

But on a personal note I would say, I do love Tali for her flaws.

Acknowledged. To be honest that chapter I talked about left me without a clear conclusion on the subject, which was really the point (hence the book title). I was previously of the same opinion, but now I'm not so sure. What I can say though is that wiping out the Geth sure felt a lot like Genocide to me, and is one of the reasons why, even though I felt Destroy was the only choice at the end, it made me feel sick to be forced to do that. My Shepard had to do it, but I kind of hate him for it too, which also makes me kind of hate me for it too. Mostly it just makes me hate Bioware for it.

Hey, Naltair. Nice to see the uniform around here again. Our opinions vary, sometimes extremely, but at least you also keep a cultured discussion style, which is rare to find among anybody.

I believe Tali was a very racist being - but only towards one thing, and that is artificial life. That definitely qualifies as racism, but it's not xenophoby. In fact she tries to show utmost tolerance towards all organic beings, mostly keeping a low profile. However, she grew up learning that the Geth are the worst horror in the universe and no AI is different from that. Later on her father was killed by them, before that she was nearly killed, and her suit riddled with polonium rounds, because she discovered somebody working with the Geth. Before Legion and EDI, she had no contact with any morally acceptable AI - even the one on the citadel wanted to blow her up.

That being said, I agree that maybe she could've turned around her opinion quicker. But coming from a country like mine, well, let's say there are many easily succumbing to the easy, destructive solution instead of trying to make up their own mind about something many influential people claim to be true.

It would be pretty cool if Tali's eyes could spontaniously change colors...imagine her eyes going from blue to red as you tell her about the monitoring devices in the women's bathoom on the normandy...or her eyes going from blue to pink or purple as you reminisce about the lovely times you two have had together.

That would be cool in a freaky way.

However, when i first read it, the first thing that came to mind was this and I don't know why exactly.

I mean it's not like the same eff-... All glory to Tali!

Lol yup. They did say Quarians are racist, but not in an overly negative tone. I'm actually at the hotel bar now, considering a drink.

White Russian. Violet Quarian. Whatever they have.

How was the panel then? Not too many grenades flying?

It was pretty wild in there. Not as many people in costume as I thought, but I did give the only Tali I saw a stra-- emergency induction port when I took a picture of her and her group. Reaction was amusing, will post photos later. Phone is clunky and annoying with service issues for now.

I find it somewhat interesting using a word like 'racist' in this case. Though technically correct in terms of the story, it's one of those words that has instant bad connotations in the real world, a rush to judgement out of fear of appearing to agree with the sentiments, and conjures up certain imagery that might not actually be appropriate for the situation or the game.

Such a response rarely fits the nuances of reality, or in this case the story. Honestly I'd prefer if they found a more suitable term to fit their storytelling. But english doesn't have a good one that fits without the emotional baggage.

However, I like it when characters are flawed in some way, but still manage to overcome those flaws. \\o/

It was pretty meh.  Lots of back patting by the panel and then a series of dumb questions were asked.  It's being speculated in another thread that they were "plants".  I dunno about that, but nothing of real relevance was asked.
