Hey People, i have a question:
Do the quarians have cybernetic/geth implants?

Because i was replaying ME2, and then i watched this on the quarian of omega:

There are some wires on his head?

Considering that the geth were designed by the quarians, any cybernetic implants or prosthetic limb replacements would probably be very similar in design and function. I don't know if it's ever stated directly but I think most geth infantry designs are really re-purposed general labor designs for different scales of labor. They were created as an automated labor force. It would explain the larger size of hunters, primes, and destroyers... there isn't any real benefit to making a big infantry bot.

It is known that all quarians have at least some cybernetic implants though most are just biomonitoring or immune system augments of some sort.

I have always imagined quarians to have visible cybernetic implants on their head/face. Nothing ridicuous like Greyson. But with the wires coming from the back of the hood (more noticable with the males) then it is always how I have seen them to be.

Also, in ME1 in the quarian codex entry, it states that there are rumours that quarians are, un fact, half machine. Interesting if it has some semblance of truth in game.

So that means that tali would be "half machine" ? :(

With the inherent danger of any operations with their immune system I would doubt they would go into extensive cybernetic modification that did not directly help them survive (things like automated antibiotic injectors.)

Those tubes in the back of the head are most likely for air supply and filtration.

As for the ME1 codex entry it seems pretty likely that people believe those sort of rumors simply because they don't ever get to see what is underneath the suit, I doubt they have much basis in reality.

Well the hoods having those tubes out the back is probably the helmet's feed to the rebreather or local O2 supply during extravehicular activities or a hull breach.

Now they would have a number of other cybernetics, the haptic controls most equipment uses and omnitools themselves either use cybernetics for user input registering or are cybernetic themselves. Translator implants are used by just about every character you meet, biotic amplifiers are cybernetic implants. For neural stimulators to work some sort of connection to the nervous system would be required, probably cybernetic.

Quarians probably simply have more then most other species would.  Damn, Tali probably has an MMI... but then why use an omnitool for controls. hmm.

I never thought about that. But now that I do, there should be some visible implants. Maybe they'll glow in the dark!Posted Image

Or they might not be visible at all... All hanar have a mass effect field generator implanted in their body to allow them to move around outside of water. They're see through and I still can't find it.

Those larger mechs most likely were originally heavy-labor machines but I still think they have clear strategic importance in the geth army. With the hunters and destroyers they are stealthed which allows them some degree of indirect protection from enemy fire and allows them to carry improved weapons. So a hard striking unit.

Now as for primes I don't think those would be used by themselves. They are bigger and heavier armored units which lay down a steady stream of fire and allow for smaller units to advance and flank the pinned target. As with all geth they are expendable and the geth don't seem to be lacking for resources to build new platforms so they serve their purpose well.

I believe in the codex it says that the haptic devices interact with either specialized gloves or implants in the fingers. Seeing as it is most likely far cheaper to make a pair of gloves than it is to make the devices and quarians never go without gloves, I'd say thats one cybernetic implant Tali lacks.

I wonder if Tali's eyes would glow in the dark. Assuming if they're bioluminescent. (sp?) And if they're not, they might easily reflect light, like a cat.
Then again I could be wrong altogether. My biology teacher didnt' cover everything.

There are levels of cyberization too... Quarians really aren't that cybernetic compared to other ideas in fiction. The fact they still use omnitools rules out MMI usage (Mind Machine Interfacing) since they'd be rather redundant if you could just think something and it happens.

Autoinjection ports, biomonitors, neural interfacing imports are probably present and in use. Some people take the cybernetics and go way overboard with just how visible they'd be.

it is plainly stated they are sent off with cybernetic implants on the pilgrimages. how much and how visible they are is unknown.

Dirty secret... bioluminsent eyes would actually decrease a creatures ability to see in the dark.  Hence why I always tend to go with eyeshine (Tapetum Lucidium) and imagine a larger pupil then humans.  Hell, on my computer I can actually see the glow shaders they used behind the visor sometimes and you get a hint of a pupil through the mask at times.

Plus if they went straight to glowing eyes I'd be disappointed in bioware, they did so much research for other stuff.

Edit:  Also... glowing eyes next to glass... you see how much that visor reflects light!
