Except for the ones that have overkill poison. It's almost unnecessary. Brown recluse venom and some of those other kinds of spiders? Blargh.
Just like snakes, don't mess with them, they won't mess with you. Very few spider species have any agression towards anything the size of humans, and very few spiders actually have the ability to kill a human.

There is this one spider that is so aggressive that it will charge a human and bite it with several inch long (If I remember right) fangs. Their poison is lethal if untreated.
No spiders have several inch fangs though. But that concurs with my point. No spiders in north america attack humans, so you really have nothing to worry about. Also, much like scorpions, the larger the spider, the less potent the venom(usually). Black widows and brown recluses are penny sized and can kill, tarantulas are dinner plate sized and cannot kill an infant.
Also, spiders are a nutritious food.
