Never played any scary games but one thing that always managed to make me end up wasting so much bullets(due to going FFFF SHOOT IT SHOOT IT) were fast zombies:

Worse yet, imagine a Penumbra monster (tuurngait.) You can turn into them simply being in the presence of the hive mind! (or whatever it's called.) They can use weapons, look scary as hell and have the all time scariest theme in existance. Nobody is safe from their infection! Not even Tali in her suit!

Watch Penumbra Black Plauge now. Scarier monsters. Not as linear. Monsters have weapons and have the scariest theme ever. Also, in Amnesia you would know a monster was nearby because of the music playing. In Black Plague, you don't hear the music until you see or hear the monster first. Shepard should have a scary movie/game marathon with Tali.
