Well, there is hope then. PAX itself didn't give a lot of details, but they've said on twitter that reuniting with your crew is possible (for destroy+breath). They did say at PAX that there may be survivors on the citadel even if it blew up due to sections being able to isolate themselves. They did however suggest that they wouldn't actually change any of the material already in it. So that would suggest they won't actually rescue you off the citadel.
It's worth noting though that they did point out they are working on it and still want constructive feedback. So in theory a lot is possible. The only thing they seemed to have ruled out is a total retcon (they didn't even rule out Indoctrination Theory, though that seemed a political move).
EDIT: Speaking of Pax, they talked about the photoshop of Tali. They said about the difficulty finding the right face model and I just stumbled across this so:
