I can understand maybe taking a shortcut on somethings so the game can be head in a couple years time, but if you're going to cut a corner, perhaps it would be better to not do it when it comes to one of the most anticipated reveals in gaming history. And this would effectively upset both the people wanting her face to be revealed, and those who were opposed to it. I'm just not really sure how Bioware thought they could turn this situation into a victory.

<topsnip>

It is a puzzle. The way they seemed to answer the question at PAX made no sense to me either. It could just be the way it was written in the feed I was looking at, but they seemed to say that they wanted it to be high quality, like the other faces in the game... so they didn't want to use the game engine to do it. I can't figure that one out. Unless I've missed something and everyone else is just going around with 2D photo's stuck to their heads and aren't actually 3D face models. But then more confusingly they suggested they went to a lot of effort with selecting the stock photo and performing the changes. Which we all know they got wrong when they got to her hand.

For some reason I can't help but think in their now infamous complete lack of logical thought, they came to the conclusion that because some people really wanted to see the face and other people didn't want it to be revealed, doing a photo would somehow satisfy both groups. Yeah, worked out only slightly better then sending synthetics to wipe out organics in case they create synthetics that wipe them out.

I think the way I would have done
it is stick with the picture as it was, and then if there was a
possible happy ending it would be you and Tali on Rannoch, and then she
takes off her mask, we all see it, and the game ends with a romance
scene.

I totally agree.

well, Star Trek is all about talking and technology, sure there are fighting scenes, but they aren't really important, the important stuff happens while they are talking about politics, war and technology.

So, what do you in Mass Effect? ;)

Hey guys. I was just wondering something.

What would you all want Tali to look like? Please dont link any fan art unless you did it yourself. I was just wondering if the majority wanted her to look more human/more alien/what features you would have given her, etc etc.

Im drawing some Tali fan art as we speak and I guess im just looking for inspiration =P

I wish I could be of more help to you here, but this is a difficult question. I guess I've become so consumed in the mystery of the entire situation that I didn't really even know where to begin formulating a visual apparition of my own. However, I would like a cross between human features coming together with alien, so it seems at once familiar, and yet somehow ethereal, as an ascended being. That's why I've always liked the glowing eyes. They add the beautifully other-worldly appearance. Something I know, expanded beyond the forms to which I'm used to, if that makes any sense whatsoever!

ok cool beans~ man I would hate to be in Bioware's shoes. chances are you are always going to have someone who disagrees with your creative choices.

Probably would have been better off not showing what she looked like, but whatever, im sure everybody is tired of talking about it at this point.

Edit:

makes perfect sense lol I do know where you are coming from. From the way the Quarians are first described, they are like humans, but are practically ONE with their planet. Something like that can definitely make them be interpretable as "ascended beings"

Her looks are actually not something that I've given a lot of thought towards.  They just don't matter much to me.  I suppose she would have a human-like appearance, as she does in the photo.  Skin color, probably similar to humans... pale, though.  It's not like the quarians have time to get a tan.  Long, wavy, black hair.  Her body shape is pretty obvious from her suited appearance.

Well, I thought she'd look a bit human, though was surprised at just how human she ended up. I didn't think she'd have a (next gen) Star Trek style funny bit on the top of her head. But I did imagine she'd be bald and have smooth grey skin as well as of course the white eyes. For some reason I didn't picture eyebrows. I also thought she'd have a very pronounced spine (given the Geth design), but I never expected to see her naked back to find that one out.

I was happy enough with the design of the reveal we got. I just didn't like the execution of it. Even if it wasn't a stock photo, wasn't photoshopped and didn't have a botched hand it still had that annoying sun glare and we still spent most of our time looking at Shepard looking at the picture rather then seeing it ourselves.

The other odd thing about the photo, is every other photo of someone in the game is a photo of the game rendered 3D model. They all look pretty bad because of that, but they also all look consistent. Until you get to the Tali one, which looks like something from outside the game (because of course that was what it was).

Sounds like apathy, maybe a wee bit of depression. Healthy living and activity should fix it, even if it feels pointless at first.

I can assure you that I'm healthy. It's just nothing seems interesting to me at this moment. Usually I find something.

Mostly, though without all the tiresome minigames and considerably less time climbing up hills in a buggy.

I know the feeling. I know, I'll finally start playing Deux Ex. No way two games in a row are going to end up invalidating all my decisions by forcing me to choose between three options at the very end.

Oh my god you mentioned Deus Ex just a a few seconds before I posted the top. Coincidences can be funny sometimes.

In overall appearance, mainly human, like every race in the game. But my headcanon has quarian with tendrils for hair, more prominent incisors, more clawlike fingernails,  blue sclera, completely nonhuman irises, secondary eyelids, and skin that is somewhat similar to scales. Ears are a component of the skull, and not protruding cartilage. No hair at all. Pale grey-green/grey-brown skin.

ME crossovers..

Transformers/ME...

a sentient robotic race that evolved on its own. I would to see how Tali and everyone else reacted to Prime.

Ahh, that makes more sense. I should add that I haven't played it yet. But I did hear about the three buttons. So not too many spoilers please. My brother tells me it's still good despite the buttons.

Tali: "It's okay at least there aren't insanely large ones running around destroying planets"

Shepard: "....uh, Tali, you may not want to look up right now"

Thank God for that destroy option...any news on if Michael Bay is synthetic, take him out of the equation?

Please don't mention that mans name. He murdered my childhood with those abominations. The only good thing in any of those films was Prime himself. I'm showing my age, but I was a kid for the Transformers initial run. For me Bay has nothing to do with the Transformers I know.

I unfortunately was born too late, and missed the real Transformers growing up. So, all my knowledge comes from that Satan spawn's infamous abortion.

First movie was good. Second sucked. Third was decent. They all destroyed everything the original series stood for. I will always remember the 1986 movie. Wonder what Tali would think of a synthetic larger than a planet...

"I don't think I can hack this one"

Also, pop trivia: That was Orson Welles last role (as Unicron). Not bad way to go out really.

Hey Bioware said that whilst ME3 is the last game involving Shepard, it's not necessarily the last game set in that universe, right? Do you think they'll include Tali somehow in future games taking place in the ME universe?
