Hi guys! Whats up?

They're talking about man things...
Hence why I haven't posted in a while.

Man things? We are discussing the beauty of female Quarian er Biology... Yea...

Fixed it for you... Unless y'know, you're into Kal Reegar now. ;)
Even though Adam Baldwin has quite the nice voice, I dunno that it's of your taste.

I like Kal'Reegar a lot but not in the way I think you mean it lol.

So does anyone else think that the morning war was in some way fomented by Sovereign? He started the rachni wars, which were FAR before the morning war, and he eventually used geth as his own soldiers. Cashing in on a 300 year old investment? I think likely.

Edited for a thousand times more badass tali action.

i think it was natural, the quarians kept increasing the geth's intelligence gradually over time. It was probably too late by the time they realized it though.

*sigh* Virmire is a sad thing, still...and I hate having to sac Kaidan now, since Ash must be around for the engineers to hook up...takes out a major choice option. Not to mention Tali nuking the Normandy...

We are not mentioning any Tali related gamer girls around right now, are we?

And the quarians just "happened" to not detect it until it was too late? And key military and political leaders just "happened" to decide that wiping out a sentient race that was already an integral part of their society was a good idea? And it just "happened" that the geth managed to defeat the quarians, even though they had no training, weapons, or military to speak of? And then, a large portion of those geth split off, thinking the reapers to be godlike beings who will give them their future? Seems pretty damn unlikely to me.

It is possible, but not likely.  What I haven't found clear is 'how' the quarians created the geth.  We know 'why', it's the how part that intrigues me.  If they created the geth from some alien ruins they found, it is quite possible that sovereign is involved.  However, from the geth archives, it is clearly stated that it was the quarians who started the war, not the geth.  The only way to argue this is that either the reapers changed the data to say otherwise, or a key quarian figure was unknowingly indoctrinated and believe the geth were bad.  The only two probable causes that sovereign had a impact on this was either indoctrinating a quarian to believe that the geth are bad, or the quarians found technology based on the reapers and used that to build the geth.

That's indoctrination for you.  People are more likely to do stupid things while indoctrinated.  Don't believe me?  Remember the Arrival DLC and you'll get what I mean.

Oh, and for the record, about turning on your allies, whether or not you are indoctrinated:

THAT.  IS.  THE.  OLDEST.  TRICK.  IN.  THE.  BOOK.  EVER.

Sovereign indoctrinated the rachni to make them hostile to the council races. They probably would have tried to have peace if they didn't. The queen even tells you that she was indoctrinated by them.

Rachni queen convo talks a lot about some outside influence making the rachni go crazy. Very heavy reaper indications.

There were isolated cases before hand.  Remember that in ME2 the instance played is the first case where the Quarians reacted with ffear.  I suspect it was gradual.  As more and more Geth came online it started occuring until it hit critical mass and causedthe reaction.  ME3 shows there was also internal dissent over how to handle it.  The Morning War was problem just the end conflict to a longer drawn out series of instances.

Edit: Also recall that AI was outlawed at this point.  So they'd be facing sanction by the Council.  Consider that you are dealing with synthetic life.  There is no training over time.  You load a program on how to shoot a gun like an expert and you are an expert.  Couple this with the fact that the Geth can instantly disseminate knowledge among themselves to  react to troop movements and to coordinate.   Quarians have never shown to have a large military presence, odds are they had a defense force at most.

But why would the quarians react with such an insane plan? Kill all of your workforce, which are sentient, and will defend themselves? And again, that still does not explain how the geth WON. The quarians started the war with 100% of combat ships, 100% of military combat armor, 100% of military grade firearms, and there were likely 2-3 more quarians on most planets than geth. But the geth WON! In the words of sun tzu, HORY SHEET. Also, the geth knew about the reapers before any other race in the galaxy, how could that be explained unless sovereign made contact in some way?

they most likely panicked, how would you react if your refridgerator started asking if it had a soul and started walking around, then when u unplugged it it didn't turn off. As for how the geth won, no clue(quarians must have sucked at combat back then too >:D) and for the geth making contact, sovereign probably went there a little before indoctrinating Saren to use as a force to help open the citadel.

Edit: Oh, and I believed the Quarians used the Geth for military purposes as well, making them much more efficient at combat than an organic.

I'm glad I made peace between the geth and the quarians.  I think they need each other now more than ever.  It makes me wonder what the geth will do now after the war is over...maybe they'll finally be able to build that 'dyson sphere' legion was talking about and move to there.  I hope they have adaquite space in their storage compartments for the quarians to explore...Tali might be impressed to see something like this.

If my refridgerator started poisoning my food in an attempt to kill me, I would not get a shotgun, try to shoot the fridge until it was destroyed, but manage to fail and get squashed under it. And the geth are not armed before the morning war.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, the morning war is the most pivotal event in ME history that we know of, except the rachi wars/krogan rebellions combo. If the geth did not let the quarians escape, the reapers would have a massive foothold in the Veil, before they even hit the batarians. If the quarians smashed the geth, sovereign would have had a lot more trouble in ME1, perhaps delaying the whole reaper invasion until he could muster up more forces, perhaps giving shepard the time to expose the reapers, and ME3 becomes a lot more feasable to win conventionally.

I would not be supprised if he meant by military, disarming explosives or lifting heavy opjects, not  combat though.

so you would just let the refridgerator do whatever it wants, and not serve you(which is what it was built to do btw)? But yes, I do think this probably could have been avoided, or at least delayed if the quarians had won. But maybe the reapers could have indoctrinated their military/political leaders to lead them into civil war before moving in. God, this must be what BW wants, lots of speculation.

If the fridge tried to kill me, I would smash it into so many pieces you could fit them through a screen door. If it just wanted freedom, it could have it. But since it has no way of moving, speaking, or thinking, It is just going to sit there and keep my food and beverages cold.

Bioware just wants specultion on the different ending colors. pre-ME3 speculation does them no good.
