Speaking of works of fiction, I actually wrote a fantasy medieval novel a few years back. It's about 1500 or so pages on microsoft word if I remember correctly. Holy ****, I need to find it right now. I have waaaayyyyy to many hard drives and usbs laying around...
I love to write
Yeah, thats the type of genre i tend to write.
Something fantasy, thats intertwined with the olden days, kinda like a dragonage/lord of the rings type thingy.
Its what i'm writing now... coming up with new civilisations, each based on different ancients, and inventing an entire new religion.
My novel if I remember correclty was about a disgraced warlord who was exiled from an oppressive kingdom, only to learn that the kingdom he served was the true enemy all along. It's pretty much his journey of joining the rebellion and redeming himself of his sins. He joins the rebellion and they quickly discover that he was a warlord of the kingdom, but he proves to them that he has changed and he becomes a prominent leader in the rebellion. It has heaps of epic battle scenes and some interesting themes. Yeh, I love creative writing. I really need to revisit that novel and complete it.
Anyway enough about that. Have a Tali.

Oh wow, that is a reallllly beautiful woman. The woman they used for the for the Tali photo is lovely indeed. I love exotic looking women like that
I don't really like the tiara like thing on the Tali rendition though, and I don't think that face suits her. I can't really put my finger on it, but she seems almost too... regal? I don't see that youthful enthusiam that I've come to know and love in Tali's personality.
But just looking at it... I would have to say that I'm on the fence for this one.

I could never write something midevil. I'd bore myself to tears. The language is too... Don't even know the word I'm looking for... It isn't modern enough I should say.

Oh no, its modern language. Its just the culture, the way of life, the visceral combat and gore.
Mine is fairly complicated. But it involves war, politics, sinister beings from the depths of hell and a prophecy. If i can get it off the ground and get it up and running, i'd like it to be a trilogy.

I wrote some science fiction short stories some years ago, long before i even heard about Mass Effect. The curious thing is that both stories ended being something similar (Except for the endings)
One of the main characters was Walven Wallde, a youth and inteligent tech expert female alien who gets involved on a plot that was endangering the security of an inmense space station. She is betrayed, and needs to run all over the station to scape from those who wanted her dead, but she is rescued on the last second, by a misterious character.
You can understand my surprise, when some years later, i started my first Mass effect playthrough, and i played the mission where you rescue Tali on the Wards.
It was a ¨what the hell¨ moment for me.

I've been working on a sci-fi novel on and off for about 5 years. The idea's been in my head even longer, almost 12 years. I will finish it someday, though probably after I finish my Ph.D.gamer_girl wrote...
Bazzag's idea sounds most practical...
Though writing a novel takes a lot of work.
I could attempt over the summer during my free time. :/
It's currently about 100,000 words (140 pages A4), and roughly 2/3rds done.

1500 pages A4 (default paper size in Word)? That would make it longer than all of Tolkien's works put together! Or did you change the paper size or used large fonts?ryder500 wrote...

500 is still quite a lot. Do you have any idea of the word count? An average novel is between 100,000 and 150,000 words. As I said, my own novel is currently up to 100,000 words, and will probably be around 150,000 once finished. Peter F. Hamilton's Night's Dawn Trilogy (the longest trilogy I've ever read) is about 1,200,000 words.ryder500 wrote...

I have heaps and heaps of notes scattered throughout the story, and I'm talking large paragraphs explaining concepts such as religions, cultures of the kingdoms etc etc. I also have sketches of maps and stuff like that scattered throughout as well that I've scanned onto my computer and put in. In terms of actual story content it is in the vicinity off 100k words. I also wrote it in size 14 so my I could see it and edit it easier.
