Fictional characters like Tali are so much easier to appreciate aesthetically than people, to the extent that I'm starting to agree that we can observe the most "real" and genuine of romances in literature and not in reality.
She does tick a lot of boxes of the traditional lover of the romantic; engages in a practically unfeasible relationship, has a pleasant exotic accent, is enigmatic, possesses a kind of virginal purity, is intelligent and yet at the same time inexplicably dependent and her figure is not dissimilar to that of an idealistic 60's sex symbol.
A fantastic character (and as I keep reminding myself, a bunch of pixels
).
Weird, isn't it! Adding to this point, a bunch of pixels she may be, but technology has evolved faster than people have evolved. Whilst we may be able to rationalise that she isn't real, other parts of our brain are unable to tell the difference between an image on a TV and a real person, in the same way as millions of people follow celebrities (ultimately, you're unlikely to have any contact with them and they don't know you exist, but it doesn't stop people forming relationships with them through their TV sets). A well written character can generate exactly the same kind of feelings as a real person. That is just the way the brain is designed, i.e. it reacts to certain stimuli, regardless of origin. Besides, it makes the game a lot more interesting if you feel something for the characters. Games where you don't care about anything that happens highlight a poorly written narrative.

just enjoy tali...no more physics in a tali thread leave that for physics thread PLEASE
I know where you are coming from, but it could have something to do with Tali's personality. Each character attracts particular kinds of people. It just turns out that Tali tends to attract intelligent people, like Engineers and science fans, who use their knowledge on these subjects to debate and answer questions (nothing wrong with that!)
