Mornin' everyone. Just finished a new chapter(more like a short story but still) of the FF I've been working on(with much help from Revan). It's a different take on Mordin's advice to Shepard regarding Tali. Lemme know what you think via blog comments.

Edit: Also, if it's too short for your liking, I kind of wanted it that way with Mordin. His conversations tend to be quick ones(aside from the art and culture one on the SR2). Future entries will be longer.

Suddenly Tali rushed past Shepard and crouched down next to the body,

"Father!" she exclaimed and Shepard realised that the dead Quarian must be Tali's father.

Slowly but surely, Tali took her mask off and began to cry. Shepard couldn't just stand and watch when Tali was so upset, so he helped her up and gave her hands a gentle squeeze, before Shepard really knew what he was doing he had kissed Tali on the forehead.

"Damn it! Damn it, I'm sorry", Tali's voice was interspersed with sobs, Shepard gave her one last hug and stepped away.

But...here's the thing.  Im not sure about the whole 'take off her mask' part, because it seems sacred to me, especially in Mass Effect 2.  Plus, who knows how many contaimenants are on that ship?  I think the best time for Tali to take off her mask is if she romances a male Shepard in ME2 and if he accepts her offer before the collector battle.

If I recall correctly, there wasn't any oxygen on the Alarei. The geth had disabled it or something...I think. Might be a bit of a damper on the whole breathing thing if they did. Otherwise it's good!

You're forgetting that the Alarei is a Quarian ship, it would be safe for Tali to take her mask off temporarily, and do you really think Shepard carries tissues around with him, he's a soldier!

not bad. Maybe say instead that shep realised that the dead quarian must be rael, and maybe not help her up, instead having shep crouch down to her, and hug her, letting tali release herself when she is ready. I would have shepard hold her hand and kiss her after she says sorry, as shep can then reply "You have nothing to be sorry about", or something.

I hope that doesn't sound too critical, because its not supposed to be.

edit: if indeed the oxygen is out, then shep can just kiss the visor, or her hand.

I'm pretty sure the geth didn't disable the oxygen, it wasn't mentioned if they did.

Shepard is a soldier so I contend that proves the opposite of your point

No taking off the mask before the pre-Collector base scene. It was treated as a big deal, and would be ruined if they'd done it before. If you want the mask off, you should write a fic either of that event or after that event, otherwise it just detracts from the ME2 romance rather than adds to it. Just my 2c.

I think you're confusing it with the geth base, it's there that Legion makes the comment that there's little oxygen or gravity.

Tali still shouldn't take off her mask on the Alarei though... see my previous post.
