Ok when I said chotto, I really mean chotto.
I'm taking first year Japanese at my school. We haven't learned a ton of words yet, we're mostly focusing on sentence structure and kana.
So I know very universal words. Things like jimu****su, kaidan (weird just realized stairs in romaji is a name of a character in ME lol), neko, etc. Also question words like nani, doko, ikura, etc.
Also particles and things like that. So I don't know enough to have a good conversation - pretty much the vocabulary of the average Japanese 3 year old.

Ikura is also a type of sushi.

But I see; hope it goes well; I'm a little curious how westerners teach our language, how its different than it is here.

EDIT: And no matter how many times I say it; people seem to forget that "Kaidan," is not a name, but I see threads sometimes saying that its a Japanese name. XD

Our grammar can be pretty simple, although we do like to change things around for emphasis; like, nouns always go first, verbs last, but sometimes we'll flip them around depending on the situation.

"Kimi wa nani suru no?" A VERY casual way of asking what are you doing? (Although you'd usually not say "Kimi wa," and just leave it out.) But it can also be said "Nani suru no, kimi?" Making us almost worried about what it is you're doing. Feel free to ask me something in a message if you want.

Its interesting though, this reminds me of when I tried making "Keelah se'lai," translate into "By the homeworld I hope to see someday." I actually used Japanese grammar for it. If you'd like, I can post that here.

Yes, yes it does. Its used when talking to someone younger, lower in rank, or really familiar. Anta is kind of lost between Anata and kimi, but has a more arrogant tone to it. Kisama is very rude, and usually translated as "Bast*ard," in enlgish, though its another way of saying "You."

And the phrase "Nani wo shimasuka?" is right, but not something you would say natively. "Shimasu," is the polite form of "Suru," and "No," at the end of a sentance is like an informal "Ka." the "Wo," particle can be left out because the context of the sentance is usually pretty clear.

Basically I was irritated that designers tend to make women (not just in mass effect) unrealistically appealing.
