I couldn't have said it better. I have only been here a couple of weeks and I already consider many of you if not all you friends. Everyone has been so kind, friendly and awesome to talk to. Where I live I'm sort of alone when it comes to mass effect. My wife isn't into video games so to meet a group of people whomlovemthe game and the character of tali and are just plan cool is super cool to me. All of you are wonderful. I wish we could have our own convention one day so we could all hang out in person.

I know exactly what you mean. This is the definitive awesomest place on the Internet.

I mean, it's pretty rare for such a large and diverse group from all over the world, different ages and hobbies and beliefs all get along wonderful. My biggest fear would be that this community gets shut down and we wouldn't be able to talk with each other. This is the only place I feel I can just be myself, have fun with a character I love, not be made fun of and .   Seriously I I want o leave work early just to come on here. I also enjoy the talks that have nothing to do with tali as well because it allows us to all bond on different stuff too.

I just visited other romance threads. The thane thread appears to be full of bleeding hearts who are soul-crushingly depressed over the ME3 interaction with thane, the mirimancers don't seem to be mass effect fans, the garrus thread also has wierd fanart in it(why does it have to be tongues?). All of the threats in this subforum are full of wierd people.

True. Shepard has always been one of the least interesting characters in ME for me. On the other hand, the Tali romance seems to have a lot of unspoken depth; there's a connection between them that doesn't seem to need words.

And at least we (mostly) avoided going into cheesy romance paperback dialog, unlike certain others (*cough*Jacob*cough*). Image IPB

I mentioned it before in an earlier thread, but I truly believe Bioware created tali by accident or at least didn't expect to create such an amazing and I depth character. Somehow this little character grew and made all of us love her character. To me, she is the only character in mass effect that really feels .....human.

If the only the rest of the world were like this...Either way, completely irrelevant. Everyone here is bloody great, far as I'm concerned.

Ah, doctor, it is good to see you again!

Have experimented with Joker's airbag harness, managed to not only fix size issue, but also managed to reduce it even further, making it compact. We just solved the comfort issue of it and are now putting it to actual test. Dr. Chakwas has been informed of this procedure and is on medical alert in the event that Joker requires medical attention. She will not be watching, for privacy sake, but will be ready in case EDI raises the alarm.

Also did some research while you were gone. We stumbled across a rather...mad scientist one day. Worse than you. No ethics. No pity on what he did. Had to die. But data useful. Based on what I found, we now highly believe that there is a way for Tali and Shepard to 'naturally' begin the cycle of reproduction, with some genetic manipulation. Such procedures would be illegal I beleive, but Shepard's Spectre status should allow him to circumvent that.  There is only a 2% chance that this data is incorrect. Is a complicated process, but I will show you the data.

*Forwards data on omni-tool*

Also, had to ask, did you happen to leave any oils or ointments on the Normandy when you were last here a while ago? I was...curious, to try something. Yes, if you must know, it involves Tali.

That doesn't annoy me. Like I said, there's an unspoken connection. I took Shepard's "Keelah Se'lai" in a similar way as Han Solo's "I know". It didn't need to be said, everyone knows he loves her.

Come to think of it, this is probably why the majority of games like this (Fallout, Kingdoms of Amalur) don't voice the main character in dialog. I imagine a lot of choice was cut in ME3 (although removing the pretense of choice when you didn't really have any was nice, I can think of dialog wheels in 1 and 2 where the choices meant the same) due to having to fit two separate dialog sessions on the disc. The game already fits two discs on xbox as is, and recording (the vast majority of) lines for both Meer and Hale would take so much room.

But, yes. The ME2 romances were too sex-based. But that's likely due to backlash from the VS romances in ME1 being so natural most people ended up ninjamanced. Too far the other direction, like with the RPG elements.

Even still, I enjoyed the deeper ME1 style with the "ninjamancing" vs ME2, where it was basically "talk twice then get it on."  That's basically what it boiled down to.

And then in ME3...don't even get me started.  So much wasted potential.  <_<

I disagree, ME1 system made it feel like they wanted to sleep with you the moment they entered the ship, in ME2 you actually have to earn their trust before sugesting a relationship (which can take some time) and theres room for error (not earning loyalty or losing it)

That was one of my biggest gripes with the Tali romance. :pinched:  He says that to everybody except Tali.

EDIT:  Have a pic.

I know...I mean, I understand why he said what he did, but I'm old school. A I love you would have been grand. I mean, he tells Liara he loves her and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. Can tali get some of that love lol...in my mind though, tali is his soulmate

Least interesting dialog-wise.
There is, however, room for actions to speak so much louder.
You can mercilessly club Wrex down without a second thought for defying you.
You can gank Samara for having the gumption to even threaten to stand up to you.
Or you can let her off herself and then brutally murder her last surviving (non psychopathic) daughter.
You can stealthily assassinate people at the Collector Base by deliberately giving them tasks they're not suited to.
You can sabotage the genophage with Wrex and Bakara alive, needlessly dooming the krogan...
Or you can shoot Mordin/Padok for no reason if they're both dead and the salarian could be talked down instead.
Doing all this and ignoring the chance at Rannoch peace to kill off the entire quarian species with the plan of having the Crucible possibly kill the geth afterwards.
After having used Tali for her body with the hopes of getting her killed that way.

...This hard lined human supremacy makes even post-ME2 Cerberus look like kittens playing with slippers.
Damn, I've upset myself posting that SocioShep stuff. :crying:
Hugz?

Keelah Se'lai means more to quarian. Isn't really "I know."
Is more like "With everything I've got, I love you too."

Note, though, pronunciation of Keelah Se'lai by Shepard seems forced.

Ughhhh.... seriously, am I the only one who gets the friggin' symbolism between Shepard's and Tali's "I love you/Keelah se'lai" exchange on Rannoch or when they repeat it back to each other on Earth and what they're really saying to each other? <_<

In other news, I'm back in the Tali thread.

While I thought the romance night could have used more 'action', especially given the type of music used, I thought the dialog was great.  In particular, I think Shepard's line of, "Will you stay here with me?  Until the call comes?" was one of the best lines Shepard said for Tali.

I think it's more powerful than, "I love you." in a sense because it shows that Shepard wants her.  Some may say even need her.  But more than that, it shows that Shepard wants Tali in his heart and wants her to be there with him.  Sometimes it's tear jerking, I won't lie.  But, it doesn't send shivers down me when Tali says, "I want...more...time."

Oh give me a break. Did shepard have to say it then? No But saying it at SOME point in the game would have been nice.

I thought those were some powerful lines as well. I really enjoyed the final speech and the talk at the memorial wall. When shepherd wasn't sure about himself tali gave him the strength to keep on. That's real love. Great stuff.

There is a part on the crew deck level where tali is standing there looking at the memorial wall, as I call it. They have a little dialog and while simple I found it very effective. They were just talking about people lost and shepherd seems so sad and tali was there and just gave him much needed words of encouragement. Simple but effective but I love all of Tali's lines lol

Well, you were dead, so...no wonder you missed out.

But to answer your question, I believe this answer is if you support Tali in a argument over whether or not someone should talk to Liara because she seems troubled.
