But you have to admit - it does make for sadfic fuel.
I just couldn't stop myself imagining an utterly insane Shepard. Not caring.
Or the world's sweetest dream that becomes a nightmare because it's not real... and you don't deserve it.

In my vision of the ending (as described above), the death of Tali could be handled in a similar way as the death of Thane: intensifying nightmares, Shep struggling to cope, and finally overcoming it in the confrontation with the Catalyst!Tali and sacrificing himself.skwisgaarthegod wrote...

Of course, no self-respecting Talimancer would ever be in that situation.

I've spent too much time pondering the ending and specifically the catalyst. With the disaster I've built it up to be mentally, from my perspectice, pretty much anything is like a bandaid on a broken bone.
But then again it couldn't hurt with a bandaid right?
A little extra about the endings I came across earlier today:
www.youtube.com/watch
When I first heard of the relays getting destroyed I think my mind subconsciously fell back to something like that. Replace persons with Shep and Li and buildings with relays. Certainly not a happy end but not entirely bleak either.
EDIT: To illustrate my point of view on the endings and some of my dads home improvement ideas.

...Tough call. Probably want to save the galaxy, then let said quarians do as they wished.
...in death, of course - not space magic p-oed quarians, dead ones.
Thane's death wasn't FemShep's fault. It's entirely different. Utterly. You were the only one in the galaxy who could make the call. Not even the Reapers had a say.Dilandau3000 wrote...

I know, but don't you see? They could have the Catalyst!Tali in my version of the ending use that! "You let me die? Do you really think you're the right person to make this choice." Let Shepard come face to face with the mistake, own it, and then sacrifice himself to make amends.N7Kopper wrote...

My point is, you could use things like that. Rather than going "oh, Tali died, let's never speak of this again", have it weigh on Shepard's psyche. And give us that truly personalized experience we were promised.
EDIT: And then format the player's hard drive because he let Tali die.

I think he'll also want it to be known that history's greatest saviour is also history's greatest monster.
(Although my Shep would see the same way with the geth, or the krogan, or even the rachni - it's just that he could eventually be councelled out of those. Not this one.)
EDIT: And use the bug, that has her romance play even if her entire species has burned.
The best dream, turned vicious and hideous. I'm thinking "perfect Tali *flash* broken twisted corpse - and the voices of a species damning you" kind of stuff. Just really ram in mistakes you make, like killing the VS, letting the hanar homeworld fry, (if you have Kasumi that's impossible) genociding the geth, and if Wrex and Bakara both lived, sabotaging the genophage (more so if Grunt is alive and loyal)
And I keep my ME3 on a flash drive! Well, irrelevant. Won't happen to me.
If all else fails, warp reality.

I agree, using the LI would have been much more powerful than that stupid kid, who we had no reason to care for other than "aww poor little kid". In the nightmares about him I was just thinking "oh not this again" :/
Speaking of that... Am I the only one who absolutely hate it when game's force you to move at a snails pace. In those cases I'd much rather have a real (skippable offcourse) cutscene.

Yes, especially because I got lost in one of the dream sequences and it took me something like five minutes to find the kid again.78stonewobble wrote...

I saw it on youtube after hearing vaguely that Tali dies. I was not ready for what i saw....part of my soul died. Showed it to my friend who likes tali but never romanced and he just said: "Wow....that was dark....you need a hug?".

I think I stopped at "I'm sorry."
...honestly should have stopped well before the whimpering even started. Goddamnit, every whimper but that one I've ever heard in my life made me want to punch the source.
This one makes me punch power buttons.

I did. While he enjoys the games he's not nearly as invested in them as me. And that whimpering will haunt my nightmares forever. Never thought a scene from a game would actually make me as sad as it did.

It's nice you were offered a hug, though. I would offer free hugs to anyone who ever saw that.

You know what you should do? You should take that whimpering, get your omni-blade, (every class has one, even manguard and adept - to gut Kai Leng) slice it into ribbons, and replace it with contented sighs of "Keelah...."
Contented over what? You decide.

Well sooner or later I bet you I will have to watch that awful scene, not deliberately of course, but I don't know where when and how but it WILL get me one day... So maybe I need to invent a time travel/dream subplot to explain it all... I know! Giant trampolines or stunt air bags.. yes ah ha ha ha ha ha ha sob*... and now the madness starts
and you'll be taken back to reality.
So you like to use a typo?
OK, then, our favourite character in Mass Effect is Talsi Orah.
Well, that's a beta name... but same difference.
