What happens in the game if you romance Tali in ME2 then drop her for your ME1 love interest? I would never do that, but I heard she is just kinda cool with it. Would it make her stop loving him? Not noticeably I'm betting.

Umm... shepard really cant do that...

Sure he can. Take this for example. In ME2 Shepard acted as or was perceived by Tali as a nice guy. Then in ME3, Shepard acted as or was perceived as an evil man (not necessarily Renegade, just evil) and perhaps killed her entire species, then Tali fell in love with an illusion in her mind or Shepard had a change of heart and became a new man whom Tali did not love.

Yeah, that's what I mean. You don't necessarily have to trust in order to love, but in order to keep a relationship, trust is necessary. Relationship is different from love is different from trust. Good example.

Jeff Shepard is a one-woman man, but he did cheat on Liara for Tali in ME2 because... well, Tali was always the #1 choice. Guilt was there, but Tali was worth it. And he officially broke it off with Liara in ME3, as a man should.

I'm saying that Tali, even after breaking up with him, if Shepard were to come back to her, apologizing for whatever he did, she would take him back every time, and that the love would remain in her heart even after having broken up. That's the ghist of what I see Tali's feelings as being.

In that case, it would not really be Shepard that she loved in the first place, right? So she didnt really stop loving him, she just didn't know him to begin with.

Thats like saying, if someone gives you a strawberry cake and you eat it, eyes closed, and you taste kiwi.
It can only mean one of two things.

1) your tastebuds screwed up
2) it's not strawberry cake

So Tali would have to figure out which one of these is true.
1) her perception of Shepard's actions is mistaken
2) She never knew Shepard to begin with.

The THING THAT MUST NOT BE NAMED is a direct emotional response to a heart-wrenching situation rather than a choice between loving and not loving Shepard.

Of course it is an act of despair, but the despair is caused by Tali's realization that (as you accurately stated) her love was misplaced because she did not actually know Shepard. This realization made her realize that this love was not real. Her love for the illusion may not end, but the love for the actual Shepard would probably stop. This could cause her to... well... do THAT THING.

Of course there is also that love/in love thing. I still love at least three of my ex girlfriends, though I'm not in love with them any more and they all broke my heart. When it comes to things like that I find it comes down to regrets. I Tali and Shepard split up, would Tali regret ever being with Shepard? I don't think so. So it seems she would still love him. But then love is an odd beast and it's not always positive, sometimes it just causes pain. I don't like to think of Tali in pain.

As I said I sort of know what your trying to say. I loved her, I really did, but the relationship had to end because of the lack of trust and in my heart I know now, she didn't really love me if she did cheat on me. Emotions always override conscious thinking, at least for a time. I mean, I so wanted to take her back, but there would have been no way I could.

I couldn't erase the time we did spend together, for me, it was real. For her, who knows, but...yeah, hard to talk about this a little, but I just thought maybe that story would help flesh out what I wanted to say. I want to say more, but my mind is mush.

Still at the end of the day, I had my breaking point and more self respect for myself to not go back to someone who would spit on my love.

There were certain nuances to what I was saying that were not communicated properly.

Haha. That story sounds crappy compared to my sequel.  trust me.  My remastered version will be TEN times better. It sounds so much more personal.  

I'm so sorry my story traps.  You can tell I deviated a little bit from the main story line. Where are you exactly in the series?

The real issue is just how do quarians view love.
What traits signal their minds to associate that person with what we call love.
So far, all we have done is paste human emotions and feelings on Tali. Since we know very little about quarians (face it, BW really dropped the ball here) then all we can do is assign human standards but, are they correct?

That is a very good point. We are really largely debating a humanized Tali's point of view.

What we know about Quarians is their sense of duty and sacrifice for the good of the many. That and the effect on intimacy living inside a suit has.

But that is all the Fleet based Quarians. I'm sure they wouldn't have totally changed their ideals on love since leaving their homeworld and we know nothing about that.

The evolutionary purpos of love cant be that diffrent...

I can tell you Darth. It is not worth even thinking about. I felt like....... when I saw that.  

It was just terrible.  Besides that the fact the 'she was cool' with it.....YUCK. I just. no. I could never do that to Tali.  She is toooooo Precious.

every single time is meant solely in the hypothetical universe wherein Tali has "spirit eyes" that can perceive Shepard's heart and tell if he is sincere or not.
