Cephalopods don't you dare make fun of Arcian's Prothean Squad mate!

While this isn't the appropriate topic for this discussion...

Prothean Squadmate is the stupidest idea I've heard since "Palin 2012."

Can't please everyone.

Also, official "Sign of Huge F***ing Approval" on this. Alien enough for me, and I suspect elf-y enough for the idio... ahem, other fans.

If they show Tali's face, I hope it looks like this. Maybe slight colour differences, but it's an excellent design.

Oh, and long time no see everyone.

And if your wondering where Energy drain went don't worry it's there:

"Hmm, does this mean Energy Drain is gone? :("

"Nope - we're giving her something new on top of that!"

I don't like the Gaara Tali. That concept is just a human with a skin condition and tattoos.

I also don't like hair on Quarians. Hair on top of the head would not only make Quarains look pretty human if they use a humanoid face, but it doesn't make much sense considering the conditions of their homeworld.

If they did have hair at all, it would probably cover their entire body rather than just the top of their head.

The reason humans have hair on their heads is it helps keep your brain warm, so considering that Quarians have the same basic body structure it makes sense that would be the main location for any supposed hair.

Please no furries.

The quarian homeworld is apparently quite arid. So it's either really hot, or quite coldmate.

Arid just means dry, doesn't indicate temperatures at all. Could be quite pleasant.

It's also an entire planet... I'm sure there are hot spots and cold spots. It just means that in reference to our baseline (earth) it's dry. I'd guess a smaller then 70% surface covering of water, larger continents, and just as varied terrain as we got.

But then I'm also assuming Rannoch isn't a stereotypical 'world of hats' type SF world where the entire surface is one type of geographical feature.

Totally agree, always pisses me off that Earth seems to be the only world in the galaxy that has more than one type of habitat.

The aridness would have a effect on what types of terrain would be most prevelent or rare. Deserts, grasslands, and such would be more common then on earth. Rainforests, swamps, and such would be much less commonly found than on earth. Forests would also likely be less common, but would likely still exist.

Edit: Earth during its ice ages would be a good example of this. Due to a larger amount of water being stuck in a frozen state, the enviorment as a whole would get more arid, sea level would drop, and such. Minus the increased cold, this could reflect what the Quarian homeworld could be like

Hair is a good protector against UV radiation if their homeworld is arid their must be few clouds so they really could use hair

Another thing that could supporting furry Quarians instead of just hair on the head, no inseats on rannoch. Without insects, fur would help in the transportation of seeds.

I don't really want furry Quarians, but if they have hair it would make more sense than to be like a humans.

It is stated that in their evolution the lack of insect life forced flowering plants to use mammals as pollen carriers. As to whether we're talking about small mammals or including quarians or not in this is up to debate, but all pollen carriers in this world have either feathers or fuzz/hair on their bodies.

I think the first concept I had for a Quarian had fur on it, but limited.
It would be maximum an inch long, and only cover a small area of her body:
It would cover her head in the same way that normal hair does (no hair/fur on the face) nd follow her spine until stopping at the base of the neck. And that's it. everywhere else is just skin.

The problem with the pollen carrying hair theory is that it assumes that every species on the planet is devoted to carrying pollen. Just because there isn't insect life doesn't mean that every animal is devoted to spreading pollen.

Taking our own world as an example, we did not have any flowering plants till around the early Cretaceous Period when the first angiosperm plants evolved. The first primitive land plants evolved during the Silurian period 440-360 mya and the first flowering plants evolved about 140 mya. That makes for  about 300 years where the planet got by just fine without any animals pollinating.

Now the problem with assuming that quarians are polinators is that it would likewise mean that they were active in trying to eat pollen, which is a less than ideal food source for a creature of that size. The pollinators for this planet would most likely be small rodent, bat, or bird analogues and not large obviously predatory bipeds. Coincidentally, there are cases on earth of rodents, bats, birds, and even lizards being pollinators.

Furry tali? um...why not. Planet conditions aside 300 years off world and most of which being confined to a suit probably has changed their appearance. but if shes a furby thats cool.

10 generations of shipboard living (assuming Quarian generations are around 30 years)... but there's no evidence that shipboard living caused the selection of specific traits in those that had children. Unless there's an external force saying have these traits or die their appearance wouldn't change much from when they were on Rannoch.

The decline of their immune system isn't an evolutionary response either, but an anatomical one since it's adaption based having nothing to adapt to in the hermetically sealed environment of a starship means it doesn't become as strong as it should be.
