No offense, but making a statement like that is just naive.  Having one scolarly article making a claim does not mean that the article instantly is correct and that you should take it as a fact.  The origional agreed upon published structure of DNA was a triple helix, held together by hydrogen bonds that couldn't exist at a pH level found in humans.  Peer review is important, and a newly published article like this will have to stand up to other astrophysicists' questions and criticisms.  I'm not saying it is wrong, I am just saying you should always take new, unsupported research with a grain of salt (speaking from experience here).

Not that I think that the mass effect exists in our universe.

But annnnnyways.  Back to Tali... Terrorize, you are an evil person for making us wait for a new chapter.  I now understand how you chose your name.

And the research is supported so far, since so far you can prove Dark Matter and Dark Energy in the same way you can prove the existence of gods. Not at all.

So, yes. Mass Effect itself is of course nonsense. But Dark Matter is questionable as well. Very questionable. This just is another indication that we don't know what's going on.

Only fact I don't like til now is the role of TIM. But hating him seems to be some kind of normal for most ME Fans around here. Obviously Im the only player that tried to support him as often as possible. I know he became the bad guy due to indoctrination, but man I'm still looking forward to the first fanfic based on IT that tries to save him! Hes the best leader humanity could get after the events of ME3. Not longer indoctinated, of course. 
Ah, I spent too much time defending Cerberus again.

@Madayar: dark matter could be more or less the same as dark energy. (E=mc^2!)

Except the Mass Effect Field utilises Dark Energy and not Dark Matter. The are two different things (despite the Catalyst changing from a Dark Matter device to a Dark Energy device between conversations).

We have no proof of any of the two, and now it seems we cannot find proof for Dark Matter in any reachable place around us within the next, say, 100 years.

Well for a start this is just one study. But even in that study it simply says they didn't find dark matter where they were expecting it. Doesn't mean it's not there, just mean the currently accepted models may be wrong. They haven't thoroughly tested every bit of space within 100 light years distance, they just tested the area near our sun. There were already other theories as to where the dark matter would be (some suggest they are outside of the usual spacial dimensions for instance).

I'm not aware of anything directly linking both dark matter and dark energy aside from the mystery of the two. Dark Energy is suggested to account for the increasing rate of the expansion of the universe. While Dark matter increases the gravity, which would actually be doing the opposite to Dark Energy (i.e. pulling galaxies together rather then pushing them apart).

But the thing about debating their existance is that they have no real definition outside of the effect they have on the universe. That effect exists. The rest is just theories (and not the good kind, like evolution, but the debatable kind, like indoctrination). Many scientists would rather they didn't exist, but they can't ignore it's effect. Einstein wanted to, but even he couldn't dismiss the "Gravitational Constant". To remove Dark Matter and Dark Energy you'd have to have a really really good alternative theory. So far no one has come up with one.

Anyway, Dark Energy is an easy tool for sci-fi writers. Without us really knowing anything about it, it's basically space magic. But hey, this is fiction.
