Hypothetically if my future husband told me I was his Tali I'd probably melt like butter.

I think you'd have no shortage of people willing to tell you that in this thread. Image IPB

Haha sure but I doubt any are my future husband. :P
Meaning that in the kindest way possible.
I just mean that I'll likely never meet any of you.
*stops digging hole*

Never say never. My last girlfriend I met online via a Lost group. Best relationship to date, despite the fact she was American (I'm talking about the distance there, not saying I dislike Americans, heh). Of course it didn't work out in the end (I blame the last season of Lost, lol), but I know of plenty of people that married others they met online.

So...am I making you feel awkward yet? :D
Don't worry I'm not vying for your affections, just saying, you never know where you'll meet someone.

This just occurred to me. Do Humans consider Quarians and Turians different species? I learned that the human's Biological Species Concept states that if two individuals can successfully mate with each other, they are considered of the same species. Are Turaians and Quarians different species according to humans?

Of course they are. Turians and quarians only have the same chirality, they cannot produce offspring.

Ah, I see.

Right, that's what I meant by 'successfully mate.'
Odd. So quarians and turians are the same species?

No, because quarians and turians cannot produce offspring. Image IPB

That means producing offspring that are fertile... by your deffinition many earth mamals could in theory be the same species... end thought chain

I thought that was why everyone always made a big deal about Turian and Quarian relations. So it only has to deal with the food they eat. Humph. I feel stupid.

When in the universe has a turian and quarian produced a hybrid offspring that could have offspring of its own? :o:o

The point I was making is feritile ofspring are required for succesfull mating, "doing it" does not count

I see. Humph, I feel stupid.
I thought that was why everyone always made a fuss about Turian and Quarian relaitons. So it only has to deal with the food. I do feel stupid.

They can mate? I think there is more to mating then both being Dextro or Levo.

EDIT: Late to the plate.

Speaking of plate, really I don't see the food thing being a primary concern to mating. Quarians still need to sterilise the Turian food. Not like they are going to share Dextra spaghetti and meet for a kiss in the middle.

You only need to be the same genus I believe to be able to mate.
That's why raccoons and cats can mate.
So if quarians and turians produced children they'd be of the same *genus* not the same *species*

Oi... I certainly hope he isn't in the military.
I would worry waaay too much for that to be a good thing. I'd chain him to the house to prevent him from going to war. XD

Yeah, i don't think i'd  survive if i was married and either a) i was in the military, or B) she was in the military.

Your shepard might be okay if he was a naval commander. The navy doesn't seem to suffer many casualties anymore

Yes, he was just confusing the common definition of species as creatures that can succesfully reproduce with fertile offspring, with two creatures that can "do it". Lions and Tigers and zebras and horses can reproduce but they produce infertile offspring, so by that defintion are not the same species. while most other concivable pairings won't even give offspring at all.

I am not arguing about whether that definition is correct, its just he misunderstood it

But racoons and cats can't mate. Though, that doesn't really hurt your point, as they arent even in the same family.

As I see it, Panda Tali Extraordinaire just asked for all of us to stalk her down and introduce ourselves in person.

Also, girlfriends...you only miss them the first three, four years, well, so much it is unbearable, at least. After that, if you manage not to fall in love, you can endure it. Sure, life ain't pretty without love, but then again, there at least aren't any relationship troubles to sift through, and you can always end any work discussion about relationships with "doesn't concern me".

I find the loss of something as nice as the ME series to the antisocial writings of some self-declared artist a traumatizing experience all by itself, no need for girlfriend to not understand it.

I have never had a girlfriend in my 21 years of life and you know what? Sometimes it does make me feel down. So i think sometimes we do want a little love in our lives.

Human evolution is messy. They don't have scales. Grunt is right, they're too squishy.

I would mostly agree, though Talimancing has rekindled my romantic side. Reminded me what I'm missing. That's not a bad thing really.

As for the ruining of the story, some people don't understand how important stories are or how upsetting it can be when they let you down. Stories are tied to the human subconcious and our way of thinking. In a way they help to define what we are. Nerd Rage is inevitable.

No, they never could mate, and never did. Racoons are far more closely related to bears and wolves than cats. That pic is just a cat.

You might want to read that article: "A myth which is trait-based, though genetically impossible,[7] is the idea that the modern Maine ****** descended from ancestors of semi-feral domestic cats and raccoons." Image IPB
