Its two different types of fear. The problem is, modern day films that are supposed to be scary are about as scary as a fluffy bunny. The older scary films where they didn't have as much of a budget are worse.

Image IPB

Modern horrors focus too much on gore, but at the same time are kind of lame about it. Even the goreir older horrors did it better. All you need to do is compare the remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre to see it. Far more gore then the original, but no crippled kid being chainsawed in the gut. It's even more telling comparing the Halloween remake.

We're kind of desensitized to gore now too, so it's all meaningless. If you want to really scare people you have to make it more psychological and/or creepy (which is very differnet to gory). The film that scared me the most, I can't even remember it's name but it was about being buried alive. Was from the 60's I think.

Anyway, why are we talking about this?

Speaking of "as scary as a fluffy bunny"... you may not want to ever watch the film The Necromantic. Actually, no one should ever watch that film. But suffice to say that to lighten the mood in between the main plot there are scenes involving a bunny.... and it isn't pleasant.

Here's my beginning of "I reject your ending and substitute my own":

I want the Mythbusters to research the ending.

"Danger": In the ending of Mass Effect 3, you have to destroy the Mass Relays, and the Normandy, the big ship they use throughout the series, manages to escape the blast wave of the explosion, either by hitting the relay first, or by normal faster-than-light drive. Now, they CRASH into this totally unknown planet, and escape the ship, and you see one of the crew members with you that were with you down on Earth just five minutes before the Mass Relay explosions, your love interest, Tali'Zorah, that totally hot and cute Quarian, exit the ship unharmed. Now the message boards throughout the internet light up with comments, in fact a whole MOVEMENT called "Retake Mass Effect" reject this ending, saying it is impossible to happen that way.

"Walrus": Well, I can understand that.

"Danger": Yeah, me, too. But the Lead Designer of Mass Effect 3 insists that the ending makes sense, and they want to explain it later this year.

"Walrus": So we're gonna test if that's even possible.

"Danger": Exactly! There are several myths for us to test: A. Is it possible to outrun a Mass Relay explosion using FTL drives.

"Walrus": Yeah, and if not, can you actually hit a relay before the explosion, and then not instantly arrive at the other side, but drop out due to the explosion.

"Danger": Right, cause if you arrive at the other side - the Relay there will just explode and wipe you out anyway!

"Walrus": And we should look at the distance between the Relay explosion and your ship.

"Danger": Right, cause you get a head start, but the distance to Earth might be too short. And B. Can you get from London, on Earth, to the Normandy, in only five minutes, despite the Reapers attacking and Harbinger, that big nasty commander Reaper, right on top of you.

"Walrus": And finally, can you land the Normandy in its destroyed state in a way anybody could get out of it alive.

"Danger": Precisely, because in the game it is explicitly stated the Normandy is too large to enter an atmosphere safely!

"Walrus": So, how are we gonna test this?

"Danger": Well, the way I see it, first we have to see what exactly happens when a Relay explodes.

"Walrus": Which means we have to go to the Charon Relay.

"Danger": Right!

"Walrus": Well, off we go.

"Danger": Perfect. Haha, this is gonna be so great.

"Walrus": Was there not a possibility to pick a different love interest than Tali?

"Danger": Yeah, but...nobody does that.

"Walrus": Oh, okay.

I tend to like the Older ones.....I think they are scarier than new ones. Lower budget but made it more realistic to me.

There is one that makes me cringe all the time. I forget what film it was, but there was one bit where a guy rams a pencil into someones ankle, and you here the crack and stuff *shudders*

Well jigsaw's motivations were noble, though his means a bit brutal.
Spiders just have too many freaking legs and eyes, and potentially have poison lethal enough to kill.
Jigsaw only tests those who "deserve" it and never really wants to kill - just wants to impose morality through fear. I don't think I'm immoral enough to be on his list, so I'm not afraid of him (plus he's fictional)

If his motivations are noble, that makes him worse. Just means he's playing judge, jury, and excecutioner.
End of story.

...also read the new chapters.... or part of 9. Decided to stop reading. Shepard is far too incompetent. Just my opinion, though.

:whistle:Shep is Tali's b*tch lol

haha, as I said.
Well, to be honest - now it's touching on my primal fears. :(
Not of losing loved ones. In that position, my only thought would be "shoot the b*tch in front of me and mourn who she used to be later"

...never mind. :blush:

I value free will highly. :?
That said, I don't mind as much if it's believable. Heart-wrenching, I can live with.

...but it made me mad. I only ever get mad if there's something wrong in the meta sense.

Hmmmm....biggest two fears...
1. Spiders

2. Please don't laugh at me, but I am being very serious...I have a huge fear of being abducted by aliens. Don't laugh. :(. Sad but true. Not cool ones like tali, but short little gray ones with big heads and black eyes. Something too creepy about that.

True...
But then again, beating EarthBound and Mother 3 (since these games use the player as an entity in a pretty cool way) changed my perspective on video games, and I feel like putting believable characters through the wringer if I could savescum or saveedit would be unfair.

But maybe I'm just a fool. :lol:

In that situation, I'd spam melee anyhow, after using Energy Drain (my cooldowns are faster, indoctritali! Suck it down harby!). Like the colonists on Feros.

I fear the Mass Effect 3 ending will always be like it is. We will always obey starchild. The indoctrination theory will not come to pass. All war assets are futile. And new bugs for Multiplayer in every patch. I fear that the third installment of the series will remain the waste of money that it is now, and that I will never get the peace I want. I fear that. That and bad things happening to loved ones. Luckily there aren't many of those.

Seems OchreJelly has decided to add a femshep. Still a brilliant Tali. And that guy's detail work...

Anyway, gonna go to bed.

Night Mad!

My two biggest fears?

1. Spiders

2. Heights, or drowning. Probably the latter, as when i was young someone dunked my head underwater in the swimming pool and wouldn't let me come up for air
