We live in a world with closed-minded people who can't deal with anything slightly different to their perception of normality and who can only comprehend in-your-face aggressiveness. They hate subtle, they hate compassion, they hate real friendship (but they generally seem to like the ending to ME3).

Woo! Go Ryuji!

I'm sure Ryu will make us Talimancers proud.  Let's just hope nobody fallows him back here, I'd hate to see this good thread go to waste.

Oorah Ryuji! I'm sure you'll fight well!
However, the haters are necessary for we need enemies to keep us sharp.

What is this "Tali hate" that's going around? I do not comprehend such a concept. It flies in the face of all logic and reason.

Also, I missed page 1981 (year of birth). Image IPB But, it looks like I might be around for page 2000 if we keep up the pace today. Image IPB

Gonna add his statement as a quote. *cracks knuckles*

Before I start, let me acknowledge something. When I say I HATE Tali, it
is different then when I say, "I hate Subject Zero". When I say, "I
hate subject zero", I'm almost admitting she is a good character. I
acknowledge that SuZe is an interesting character, its just that her
attitude doesn't fit mine.

However, when I say that I hate Tali, I mean something completely different. I think the character Tali is so freakin' pointless. I don't mind the Quarians, but Tali makes me angry. Any other Quarian squad member would have been perfect. She is just uninteresting and unimportant in Mass Effect 1, and has next to no tie with the story (other than giving you Saren's evidence). It makes me angry that she of all people was brought back to the team.

What baffles me even further is people who want an LI for this freak? Or even worse, FIND HER ATTRACTIVE?! She is a weird humanoid thing with 3 webbed toes and 3 long weird fingers. Not to mention she wears a gigantic
robot mask. How can anyone claim her cute? Its kind of scary TBH.

Maybe I should be happy she was added to your squad in Mass Effect 2. Now I can kill her. "

I respect his opinion, but I disagree. Tali is important beyond giving evidence against Saren on the Citadel. She is the focusing lens that lets you see the history behind the quarians and the geth. Could they have picked someone else to do this? Possibly. But they didn't.

Tali gives a different viewpoint that others wouldn't consider. You learn about her family, her culture and how tight-knit the fleet is. You learn why the geth are so hostile towards organics. You learn to see her as someone that you can depend on regardless of what happens. She's that trusting of a person.

So it's not weird to romance someone with head tentacle fringes, blue skin and a freaky embrace eternity mind thing IN ADDITION to having the ability to reproduce with any species and any gender, but only have asari offspring? As well as being encouraged to reproduce with other species to reduce the chance of having Ardat-Yakshi(which kill mates instead of meld and reproduce), which not only increases the numbers of asari, but also reduce the other species' numbers?

I'm not bashing anyone who romances Liara, I am merely stating a viewpoint. She's a neat person and all that, but it just...isn't my cup of tea. I can relate to Tali the most out of all female characters in the ME series. I hate to judge, but this person seems like a very looks-oriented person. Looks are always nice, but they aren't what's most important. If you talk to Tali and learn more about her and her culture, you find out quite a bit about why she acts the way she does.

Many many people warmed up to Tali because of how well she could get along with the player. Her warm personality and kind nature attracted a lot of people, myself included. There wasn't a time when Tali wasn't in my squad. She made that much of an impact on me in the story. It's not weird to be attracted to Tali as much as it's not weird to be attracted to anyone else in the series that can be romanced(and same goes for some that can't). Diversity is attractive.

Now this one i'm okay with. There is no hate there as such, only he isn't a fan of the character. I can say the same thing about Zaeed, or Jacob.

Of course i completely disagree with his opinionImage IPB

I have been indoctrinated with talilove...and im loving every moment of it.  Snugging with her in bed, buying stuff for her, getting her a homeworld...every moment is pure bliss.  At least she gave me room for free will, otherwise she never would have gotten the geth.

She's just genre savvy, is all. Trusting the dashing commander who makes his own rules and saves all the people in a space opera?
Although she can prove to be wrong genre savvy, considering this is also a choice based RPG... :(

What is the overall opinion of Tali's romance? Most good? Everything you wanted? I've heard that it's too short.

Hmmmm, I would say it's based on valid points but missing the mark a bit.
In ME1 she's devoted to Shep, because doing well here = doing well on her Pilgrammage, which she is
under a lot of pressure to do because her father is an admiral. So thus I say he devotion there is really just deovtion to the fleet, which is a part of character.

The ME2 point is again based on something valid, but she still holds on rather tightly to her convictions about the Geth despite what Shep says. She seems only grudingly willing to not shoot Legion in the AI core, she really only comes around at the end of Rannoch's arc.

And I hardly think she is a "little sister" in her LI role, she definitely knows what she like and wants.

what the Trollposter needs to figure out is that not seeing Tali is why she became attractive. Liara, Miranda, Ashley have to sell themselves with shallow cleavage. Tali is all emotion, actions and personality. I personally felt she connected better because she was more interactive when bioware actually gave her lines.

On an unrelated note,  I cannot help thinking "Emergency Induction Port" now when I see a bendy straw.

Awesome but too short. An actual date on the Citadel would've relieved that a bit IMO. Taking back her homeworld is not a date despite what Weekes mentioned, I consider that picking up the torch her father started. Still nice though, but a little trip to Flux would've been awesome, since she enjoyed the music there.

I can understand how one can get a sisterly vibe from Tali, especially in ME1. Certainly she was always my FemShep's little sis.

I just don't understand why there's need to hate any character or (especially) their fanbases. I think Zaeed is a dreadful bore who tries too hard to be badass, but if you like him, power to you. Other than that, there aren't really any characters in ME that I dislike. It is a universe filled with diverse and interesting characters, who all have their own appeal (and in some cases, like Udina, hating them is the appeal Image IPB)

I think this one is really arguable

Same person as last time BlackLotusXS stated "Tali's character doesn't seem to react to the world around her, now if she were old and grey and heavily set in her ways then that would be believable; but she is young and impressionable, as shown by her continual clinging nature to Sheperd, and other strong figures in her life (her father)."
