and he calls himself a talifan!
Those are tali's genetic issues, (with the exception of a dislike of the geth)
Blood magic is a choice. Like turning to the dark side

Your in the wrong thread if your going to post that. Blood Magic is where all the bad naming and such for magic comes from in Dragon Age, I have never encountered a 'good' Blood Mage and what happened to Hawke's mother made it worse as I have stated before.

I didn't think that I would like Isabela. The preview materials made her look like an unlikable, selfish sexpot. But I thought she was actually kind of cute. Taking the "love" route of her romance brought about a similar sort of satisfaction as with Morrigan.
I loved isabelas rivalry with aveline. Especially in one of avelines companion missions and isabelas teasing her about her sex life

The difference is, Tali doesn't do something immoral every freaking day of her adult life.exelsis wrote...

Also I never faulted Merril on that which she cannot control, which you seem to be doing ever so callously with Tali.

They are both the innocent, cute, naive relationships who talk to much when they get nervous, i'd say they have alot in common. But I can see why people would prefer to see otherwise.Complistic wrote...

Lol I always found Merrill to be the Medievil/Fantasy twin of Tali
They're really not. Merrill is more like liara in ME1.

I know that, but i was counter arguing exelsis, and her race hatred isn't genetic, therefore it cannot be generalised

But blood magic in itself is intrinsically bad.bazzag wrote...
^Merrill wasn't a bad blood mage, in the sense that she wasn't evil. She just wanted to restore knowledge to the dalish. If anything, she was obsessed
The comparison of her to Tali that exelsis made kind of makes me sick.
Tali being wary of the non organic species that conquered her homeworld is not intrinsically bad.

Then, not gonna lie, you should probably stuff a sock in it and not try to talk about things you know not of and act as if you do. It's a very big annoyance.exelsis wrote...
I think everyone missed my point. My point was with all of tali's percieved flaws, they don't make her any less desirable. They made her more human, realistic, and lovable. And you seem to hate someone just for being a blood mage. I never played DA2, so I don't know, but she probably has a really good reason for practising forbidden magic.
Not to mention you compared Tali's flaws that aren't even worth mentioning to a blood mage (blood magic NEVER has the right motives).
And just so you know, Merril's motives were to study an ancient, but very dangerous Dalish mirror that killed other Dalish in the past and was destroyed by your grey warden in DA:O if you were a Dalish Elf. Ergo - terrible motive.

What makes blood magic intrinsically bad? Do you have to sacrifice sentients in order to harness that power? And what makes it worse than living your whole life to destroy a sentient species? I know that once she meets legion, she figures out that the geth aren't evil, but she still wanted to kill them all for most of her life.gamer_girl wrote...

And gamer, you are being black and white. Morality is not a dichotomy, but a scale.

Blood magic is bad. But my point was Merrill didn't turn to blood magic because she was evil, and wanted power, like Uldred in origins. She was doing what she thought was best for the dalish. Trying to restore what was lost to them.
I agree with you tho. You cannot make that kind of comparison when one side is choice and the other isn't
