My canon Shepard would retire from the Alliance Military a year or so after the war ended ( to help out with rebuilding and such). Thought he would still continue being a Spectre (though would live with Tali on Rannoch in the house he build when not on Spectre missions), since it is just not in his nature to retire completely when he can still do whatever he can to make the universe a better place.

My Shepard will give up the active duty military. He deserves some peace after everything. He will become the official ambassador to the Quarian people now that the Alliance has setup a Embassy on Rannoch. Tali and him will live together in the house Shepard built, with the help of Garrus.

Two years after living on Rannoch, Shepard and Tali have a small wedding with close friends. I know, sappy, but I like happy endings.

So i just started a new playthrough last night and apparently Liara has been talking to Matriarch Aethyta spreading lies that my Shep from ME1 that didnt romance anyone loves her. Walked up to Aethyta and shes like oh a human boyfriend that used to work for cerberus. I was like dam gonna have to get brinks installed at tali's new house or shepard might wake up tied to some random bed with liara saying YOUR GOING TO LOVE ME.

but it is not just Kasumi and EDI to watch out for. make sure you have good window shades on that house on Rannoch so no Geth peep in...

In my canon Shep would retire from the military as soon as he could.  He'd spend some time on Rannoch with Tali and then perhaps become active again.  It would depend on a number of things.

In my fan fiction, he retires from the alliance, but becomes an 'inactive' spectre.  While there are a few privleges he loses, such as the ability to shoot in cold blood and access to spectre facilities, he can pretty much do whatever he wants otherwise.  It's wierd though, because now he's just 'Shepard', and not a commander anymore.

Well I'm off for a while to start my ME3 replay. Screwed up the first time with getting peace between Quarian and Geth. Didn't do stuff right in two so now that I did, plan to replay whole game just to get the perfect game for me.

I am thinking mine would fully retire and move to Rannoch with Tali.  Though I could certainly see trips to Earth for vacations and such.

My Shepard doesn't want to come back to earth.  He appreciates saving it for the others, but the painful memories there...he just doesn't want to come back at all.  Period.

when you first talk to matriarch aethyta at the apollos bar in the presidiun commons. she says something along the lines of "A boyfriend who worked for cerberus". I was like what i didnt romance Liara ever.

my shep would retire to rannoch with tali and try his best to have little mutant human quarian babies running around.

I think my Shep would continue being a Spectre with Tali of course. Ship life is what my Shep is used to same as Tali and plus helping people is what they both do. However they will eventually retire to Rannoch and just enjoy life.

My shepard has no family besides Tali and Garrus anymore. He is spending the rest of his days on Rannoch with Tali in retirement living off the royalties from the vids. He has had enough hardship in his life. Time for him to really be happy again.
