I get sad when I think about that stuff. Those endings..... they crushed me. Literary vomit.

I feel like im going down a hole with the endings and no matter what I try to grab, everything slips out of my grip.  As I struggle to keep my mind intact, suddenly I reach the end and realize there is no immediate salvation.  The only thing I can do is wait for bioware to drop the rope this summer and hope that if I climb out, things will be much better.

Wait a minute...*cleans glasses* You made "A Gentle Breeze Before the Storm"?  I have to give Kudos to you, it's the best FF I've read regarding Tali and Shepard!  Well done!

(Hmm, on reflection it seems like mostly the same people are still online in the thread as yesterday, so it's kinda pointless. Well, whatever)

Pretty nice. I like both pics. Thas's Gmod, right?

I will trust my instincts and say that red is the best, no matter what.  And that's a funny thing in a way; Mass Effect plays with your emotions and brings out your instinct on what you would do; most of the time, if you follow your instincts, you can make decisions that your proud of and that make a difference.  I'm glad that I decided to destroy the geth rather than rewrite them in ME2, as Tali's insight to the situation made me realize that if the Geth could be reprogramed once, they could be reprogrammed again, and in ME3, that came to be true.  Likewise, in the ending, control was a trap, and I wasn't even aware of synthesis until I played multiplayer.  But in the end, I was right; destroy was the best way to end this war and come back alive.  It's that instinct in me that really plays into what decisions I make and how I carry them out.  It's rather fascinating.

Of course, my Shepard faced nothing but death on my first playthrough, but when I realized that I could get my resources high enough with Multiplayer, throwing the character away was out of the question.  There's still a unwritten future for my character, and im not throwing it away until I play through the extended cut and build my future with Tali.

"Listen to yourself! You're indoctrinated!!"

Honestly I gave Legion the benefit of the doubt in ME2 and used his consensus numbers to determine my choice over this grey issue. Almost bit me in the ass in ME3, but I was still in the clear for peace. As much as I didn't like the idea of killing off the Geth/EDI just after they reached a new stage in "evolution", it was still the best possible option. In war, sacrifices need to be made. The other two options either don't break the cycle I set out to stop, or they strip away self determination for everyone at the whim of one man. Sorry, no. Oh hey, look, I woke up in a pile of rubble. Guess that ghostly kid wasn't right about me dying after all.

Then I found some of the fan theories, and some of it seemed to make more sense. True or not, rubble cripple Shep has a better chance of reuiniting with Tali than vapor/husk/reaper Shep.

I also picked red. I believe control is ultimately futile (Shepard wouldn't be able to remain himself and the cycle would eventually restart), and I find synthesis to be morally repugnant and completely nonsensical.

I can buy that the Crucible can destroy or control the reapers: that's what it was designed to do. I can buy that it would have an effect on other synthetic life (especially since all known synthetic life at that point has reaper parts; geth had their upgrade and EDI was the Luna VI with reaper bits thrown in). But I cannot buy that it could fundamentally alter all life in the galaxy. It gives it a level of power where essentially, if it can do that, it must be capable of doing anything. At that point, Shepard might as well ask it to turn the reapers into ice cream and move Rannoch into orbit around Sol, since it wouldn't be any more ridiculous than what it actually does. Red and blue, I can suspend my disbelief over. Green truly is space magic.

Oh crud, I didn't even realize that until you pointed it out.  It seems that my mind is at least open to partial indoctrination when it is nighttime, and my fatigue begins to set in.  Guess I better fix that.

I couldn't bring myself to trust Legion in ME2, not for a while anyways.  I even threatened to rip out his batteries if he dared to try anything.  Tali would approve of my insult, even though Legion would not understand it.  But, in the end, I began to warm up to Legion in ME2, and while our friendship was shaky in ME3 because I was pissed at his effin lying, when he sacrificed himself to give all geth intelligence, well...it was wierd.  And even though it might take me a while for me to understand Tali's mourning for Legion, ill be there to give her the comfort and support she needs for that moment of sorrow.

One thing that I didn't even notice until I started playing with this version of Tali in Gmod yesterday is the strip of her traditional swirly pattern around her right leg. I think it reinforces the idea that it's somehow important to her. Maybe it's something her mother made? It's those little touches in ME that I love. Image IPB

I have my own theory of what the purpose of that is, fit for a comic (if I can muster the gumption to draw it).

But in all seriousness, I think it was a nice touch to keep her new armor more "Tali-esque". In my game, I had her start wearing it after Rannoch, as if it was a gift from her people for reclaiming the homeworld.

I have to admit, im watching something right now where the voices that can be heard of Shepard's dead crew go through his mind. It's some sick stuff, I can actually see this happening in my nightmares.  When you hear Tali, it...it really gets personal to me.  I wonder if Tali ever has nightmares of some of the people she couldn't save or some of the things that happened to her...Poor Tali and Shepard. PTSD has hit them both hard. At least they got each other to snuggle with in bed though, so that's a great step to helping them get better.  But it's still a long way to go.

It occurred to me that the "tropical island" map I used in gmod to create this image could be a stand-in for the jungle world the Normandy crashed on, and that this was a scene after Shepard finds them.
And when I thought that, the following scene popped into my head to go with the image:

Tali: I knew you’d find me again.
Shepard: I was so afraid when I woke up near that beam and I didn’t see you… but I had to keep going. I had to stop the reapers.
Tali: They had to drag me off the battlefield when the call for retreat came. I think I owe that one marine an apology; I may have hit him in the face with the butt of my shotgun.
Shepard: He probably saved your life.
Tali: But I didn’t want to leave you! They all said you were dead, but I knew you weren’t! But when the Citadel blew up… and then Joker’s attempt to try and outrun the Crucible’s energy… if that bosh’tet hadn’t gone FTL we would’ve been fine.
Shepard: He couldn’t have known that. Besides, it all worked out. You made it to this planet. I found you. Happy ending.
Tali: *laughing* I suppose so.
Shepard: Do you want to go back to the ship? It’ll take the salvage team several hours to recover what’s left of the Normandy.
Tali: I’d rather stay here for a bit. We have almost the whole planet to ourselves, after all. Maybe you could teach me how to swim?
Shepard: You never learned?
Tali: Not much need for it on the Migrant Fleet. But someday, when we get back to Rannoch, I want to swim in its oceans.
Shepard: Beachfront property, after all… but how can I teach you here, while you’re wearing that armour?
Tali: We can stick to the shallow bits. And besides, it’s not just armour, it’s an environmental suit. If I set the air supply to recycle, it’s perfectly water tight.
Shepard: But I won’t get very far in my armour either.
Tali: *runs a finger over Shepard’s chest* But unlike me, you can take it off…
Shepard: I like the way you think, Miss vas Normandy.

I haven't been in love with a video game character like I am with Tali since Sheena from Tale's of Symphonia, but I would take a Tali pounce over that ninja cleavage any day

*Tali pounces Shepard*

*The whole bed collapses underneath the force of Tali's pounce*

Shepard: "That's definately coming out of your paycheck, Miss Vas Normandy."

Tali: "No Shepard; the Alliance might not be able to build another Normandy, but they can rebuild another captain's bed."

Shepard: "Your right.  Now, move that frame out of the way so we can keep going."

*Tali slides the broken frame away from the bed as they continue their romantic night*

Speaking of the ToS lead Lloyd similarly to how we speak of  "my Shepard" in ME, my Lloyd was also all about Sheena in Tales of Symphonia experience.  I still have a Gamecube save file right before they meet for their romantic chat at night in the forest village later in the game.

Maybe, I don't know. But I know she likes it. She has been using the swirly pattern since ME1.

If I worked in a supermarket I would replace all the price labels for straws so they say "emergency induction ports".

And then, when they fire me over it, I would leave the building shouting "Still totally worth it!" Image IPB
