Tali *holding datapad*: So what was in the crates?

*Tali and Shepard are standing at a docking station, close to a shuttle ramp and the runway leading to the transporter docks. They're talking to the Quarian supervisor for the section, checking the datapads with the shipments listed. Shepard is standing a bit aside, reading labels on crates and shipping containers*

Supervisor *checking his own datapad*: Food supplies, basically. Nothing unusual. Nothing of large worth.

Tali: What food?

Supervisor: Mostly nutrition paste.

Tali *disgusted*: Why would somebody steal that?

Supervisor: I have no idea, inspector Zorah. We didn't even notice them missing.

Shepard *walking over*: How is that possible? Don't you check shipping lists?

Supervisor *to him*: Of course we do. They were delivered, checked in, and processed. Just not checked out. They should be here, but nobody claimed them, either.

Shepard: Weren't they listed to be transported somewhere?

Supervisor *straving datapad*: No, they were on hold until picked up.

Tali: Who was the recipient?

Supervisor: The Rannoch agricultural department.

Tali: So, donation or something?

Supervisor: We can't say for sure. The department didn't expect them, which is why they never picked them up, I guess.

Shepard *to Tali*: Seems like somebody's using the turmoil of the recolonization here.

Tali *reading her datapad*: Probably...this is disturbing. You cannot track the crates?

Supervisor: They have no tracking devices. They were emergency rations, low grade.

Tali: And you're sure about that?

Supervisor *scans datapad*: They passed weapons and contraband scanner as well as varren scent control...

Tali: Okay...thank you for your time.

Supervisor: Please notify me immediately if you learn more. Rodan...he was a good man.

Tali: Sure.

*Supervisor leaves*

Shepard: That's the dead worker?

Tali: Yes...Kael'Rodan, 33 earth years old, logistics specialist.

Shepard: Basic dockhand, then?

Tali: Yes...nothing unusual in his records. Used to work in logistics on the fleet, came here with the life ships left before Earth, volunteered to rehabilitation...

Shepard: Volunteered?

Tali: Hundreds of thousands volunteered, Shepard. This is home, after all.

Shepard: Makes it easy to come here under false pretenses.

Tali *checking datapad, lifting one hand*: I can't see that in the data. And he tipped off commerce, so he probably was a decent guy.

Shepard: Yeah, but why commerce? If it's just missing crates of nutrient pastes, he could've just told the supervisor.

Tali: You have a point there. Especially since the two seemed to get along.

Shepard *checking another crate*: Something's odd here.

*A Quarian dockworker comes down the runway*

Dockworker: Inspector Zorah? You asked about the nutrition paste deliveries?

Tali *looking up*: Yes?

Dockworker: We have two more crates from that delivery back in storage B.

Tali: Oh! Great! *looks at Shepard* We should definitely have a look at them.

Shepard: Right behind ya, Inspector Zorah.

Tali *embarassed*: Stop that... *to dockworker* Lead the way.

Yeah, I follow it. It's not over yet, he's still working on it. Also, he seems to disagree with the endings (heavily) but willing to give another chance to Bioware. So...well, not completely my line, but still.

Actually, I'm thinking about three differently coloured crates with exactly the same shape, size and content, and an inconclusive, thus closed, investigation.

But since you'll draw the comic line for it, I believe I can't do that, can I?
