My question is: Just what is exactly wrong about Tali having a human-looking face? Especially since (IMO) the signs in both games seem to be suggesting that?
What signs?
- Lips. Unless it was Shepard planting one during the romance scene.
- Facial structure visible from outside the mask. Looks very human if you ask me.
- Skin. No exoskeleton/scales like Turians.
I don't see how Tali having a human-looking face is a bad thing. A human-like face will most certainly be a pretty face. A pretty face + a pretty voice + a pretty personality would be quite the complete picture no?
I likewise cannot understand all the comments about Quarians looking like "Space Elves", since Quarians don't have ears, which are the defining features of elves?
Enlighten this Volus.

I think it's more that people don't want quarians to basically be asari. Also, I've mentioned this before, but it's a matter of perspective. You (and I) highlight the similarities between humans and quarians, others choose to emphasize the differences. Neither is wrong, neither is right.Ticktank wrote...
Well, let me try to stop the derailment with a question about how Tali/Quarians should look like, should BW decide to reveal their faces.

There's nothing wrong w/ having her human looking but they would have to balance it out so that she looks exotic. As for her looking like a space elf, you have to thank the numerous fan pics that depict her as such. Such features as having purple skin and pointy ears.

The people who want Tali to have a face so alien that it is ugly, whether they are fans of Tali or not, generally don't pursue Tali as an LI. This absence of romantic inclination towards Tali makes the attractiveness of her face less of a priority compared to making her look alien.
Tali is my canon romance, so I tend to want her face to at least be able to convey emotions. A face with human-like eyes and mouth that can smile, frown and so on would be enough to do this. Apart from those two things, I wouldn't really mind making the rest of her head appear alien to keep her looking exotic.

I think I've used this analogy before, but it's like finding a platypus on Earth, a blue platypus on Thessia, and a purple platypus on Rannoch........and they all do not share any genetic history....really? it makes no sense. Body plans are different from exact looks. A poodle and a leopard have a similar body plan but they look different. And that's on the same planet in the same little corner of the galaxy.
Finding someone else that's EXACTLY like us ("chicken feet" and squid hair isn't enough of a difference) in 3 different sections of the GALAXY does not make sense...

You're also not the only one who doesn't want Tali as a purple human, I would hate that too. Like I said, the only facial attribute I more or less really want is the capacity to show emotion.

I don't think everyone who wants Tali to have a relatively alien face also wants her ugly. We just don't want her to look like another color-swapped human. I wouldn't mind if they pulled a drell and made it for all intents and purposes human but still alien, but I really don't want a purple human. It destroys believability.

The whole idea of other planets having basically identical humanoid sapients is a pretty big stretch by itself. Fact of the matter is that it would be highly unlikely to encounter any species with the same thought process, emotional responses, mannerisms, and general body plan as ourselves from a different planet. These sorts of strories rely heavily on suspension of disbelief. I can't see how a human-like face requires more suspension of disbelief than the fact that other species act basically the same way as we do.

I don't know if there is a canon answer to that question, but most fan fiction stories show Quarians eating by opening a small hole on the mouth section of their helmets and inserting a small tube through which sterilized nutrient paste can reach their mouths.Ticktank wrote...

Similarly, how do they go to the bathroom? Or bathe? Not to mention, how do the volus do these things? So many questions, so little answers...

Most of the food they eat is vegetarian - as they cannot afford to keep life animals on flottilla. Animal based pastes are considered luxsury.

To my understanding Quarians bathe in completely sterile bath houses on the flotilla, but its not daily due to their immune systems once the suit comes off they get infections even thou the ships are sterilised. Waste? Now it's not been specified how or how its stored I think, so thats up to your imagination.Cthulhu42 wrote...

Drell have lips, they also have a human facial "Structure". Batarians, Asari, Hanar, salarians have "skin". None of things in your list debunk an alien Tali. They only debunk a non humanoid Tali.
The only thing the games suggest with the placeholder are these things.
1. Quarians have very prominent cheek bones.
2. Quarians heads are far more narrow, and more angled than the human head.
3.Their eyes are much smaller, and much closer together than most alien species (aside from Turians.)
4. They have noses. But so do most species in the galaxy.
An alien Tali can work, and its not debunked at all. Drell are ALL BUT human. They have a human body (Quarian bodies are much more alien than drell bodies), drells have human lips, eyes (just watch him during one of his "episodes") nose, even a similar skeletal structure. Quarians have the potential to be just as, if not more alien than the drell!
I'm just VERY tired of human aliens in the ME games. Since alien cultures are not so much alien than facets of human culture, looking alien makes up for that. Humans, Batarians, and Asari all look the same while wearing helmets.
I want more aliens. I don't want humans of a different color wearing a rubber wig or mask, I want humanoid aliens. Its a space opera focusing on alien species for crying out loud!

IV injection only works for very short periods of time. A few days at best.
Without a way to shut off the portion of the brain that tells your stomach it's hungry, the body would still eat itself from the inside out trying to fill the void that is the digestive tract.
