I like Talis design. Its hot, and accurate to what we know. I DONT like that fan edit that always gets posted. It lacks a lot of the subtle alien features that the official one has. The only thing thats better about the fan edit photo is the her hand.

The official one is better.

http://img337.images...98/spicture.png for a bigger view.

There's subtle differences between the fan edit and the real thing. The lines from her eyes to her hairline aren't in the same spot, her nostrils are slimmer, her jawline is less pronounced, her ears look smoother among other things.

Yeah, I love the official one. Just the hand is wrong. Get that fan edit out of here.

Just realized that I haven't played Mass Effect 3 for nearly a week. Tried doing a new playthrough with Ash as the VS, but aside from the drunk scene and the occasional comment I preferred Kaidan. While Kaidan was a little boring, he was calm and collected: Ashley's (somewhat forced sounding) bravado was nice at times, but I found her to come off as annoying far more. If only the dialogue in Engineering wasn't glitched.

Still, on that note, I would have found all of the characters far more enjoyable if we had dialogue that was also controllable, rather than just the every so frequent autodialogue blerb that you hear from each character. I go down into Engineering to see Tali and all the interaction I can have with her (or ANY character for that matter) is "Hey," "Good to see you," or some other variation (Garrus especially with his "Not right now." bit).

Some in-cutscene dialogue with the characters at any given time like ME 1 and 2 (even if it's already been heard) would still have been nice to see, especially with Tali in scenes that practically screamed for it (Tali comforting Shepard after Thessia and her drunk scene, in particular).

Waiting on the EC for now, fingers crossed. Might try to replay the trilogy a third time or keep writing, or both to pass the time.

It's a commentary on most people's complaints about the game in general.
With the exception of the ending (obviously) most complaints are either highly unfounded, or there's a perfectly rational explanation.

Looking at them side by side, I find myself liking the official one better as well (poor hand design aside).  Maybe it's because I saw it first in game (before I knew it was a photoshop), I don't know.  Both are great, but I like the irises that the official one has rather than the completely glowing eyes in the fan-edit.

Heh, this picture reminded me of when me and a few other Talimancers were in Garry's mod doing Tali stuff.  One of the things we did was inflate her head lol.  I think when we tried to do something with her hips the host crashed and we lost connection to the server.  The server was glitching out anyways, sometimes Tali would disappear using the inflation tool.

My Review of Mass Effect Homeworlds issue 2:

This comic book can be broken up into two acts.

The first act shows the beginning of Tali's pilgrimage (I accidentally typed pregnancy the first time). The real point of this section is to show the hardships faced by Quarians as they try to interact with galactic society. This act comes and goes quickly, and shows an important plot point mentioned in ME1. Tali finds downs a geth pulls its memory and discovers the recording of Saren.

Act 2 is much longer and it shows Saren's men tracking her and her friend to the Citadel where the gunfight takes place that was mentioned in ME3. Tali briefly goes out of character in a scene where her now shot friend lying on the floor of a massive trash burner. She doesn't know how bad his injury truly is (she is shot too so infection is not the reason) and leaves him there when he simply asks to be left. At first I thought she was going to get help but then she uses him as bait for Saren's men and burns them alive along with her... "friend"... but this is the only part of the story I really felt was out place.

Surprisingly, none of this is the actual point of the comic. Through it we are hearing peices of her dad's latest transmission to her. She never gets to hear most of it because it is used as bait (along with the fellow Quarian) in the trash burner. As the screen begins to melt, Rael makes a HUGE character development. Telling the reasons he was so hard on her was to prepare her for her pilgrimage, and the coming war with the geth. It's the first time he shows some real fealings for his daughter (that we see, shurely there have been many moments but this is very powerful). The fact that she is not seeing her father come of of his shell gave the story a powerful emotional impact. I probably would have cried if this plot was shown in a flashback.

But the medium of the comic book allowed me to take story at my own pace, and I did like it.

The ending shows Tali standing triumphantly on Rannoch looking at the sunset. As the last of the recording that she never heard once again promised.

Final Thought: Good story, great emotional overtone, with a brief out of character moment that doesn't spoil the plot.

This is my first review! What do you guys think?

So, today I was watching this TV show and a girl had an accent that sounded exactly like Tali's. I don't have a point to make, but... it was a nice thing to hold me over until my Xbox 360 gets fixed.

Ruthless, but I can see how it would be necessary.
Now, if they had planned this plotline from the start, it would be easier to weave it into her character - although it does provide perspective on her major survival guilt she gets at times.

Now this? This, I actually take issue with. The expanded universe is meant to be canon for everyone. This shouldn't happen, considering she can die on the Collector Base (or Haestrom) :(
...or that Rannoch can be anything but triumphant... :crying:

Hmm did that show happen to be the new episode of Royal Pains? ;p

Anyway Cheese good review! I wasn't sure if I should get the comic after seeing the previews and the art....But from what you said it sounds like it could be an interesting read even if the trash burner part sounds wtf lol. So i'll probably end up picking it up.

And for the record I also like the "official" Tali heh.

I don't like the offical one because.....

1.  Horrible photoship job.  Even her fingers in the canon one don't look like quarian fingers, but just 3 human ones.

2.  Doesn't make a whole lot of sense.  In the picture she doesn't even seem to be wearing her suit.  It would have made more sense to show her suit minus her helmet.  I don't think not having her suit on is healthy for her.

3.  Bioware should have made a 3D version of her face....that was actually shown in some cinematics.

4.  Her face should be more alien.  I really hate rubber forhead aliens (aka star trek ones).  I expect Bioware to be able to make a unique alien face, for they have done so for other alien species in ME.

I think its sad that Bioware didn't put much effort into tali's face, even though she has been one of the main characters in all 3 games.  Her face deserved more respect then bioware showed.

Could be, lol.  I remember them saying something about the accent.  She didn't realize she was doing it, or something like that.  I was channel flipping at the time.

1. Agreed with the fingers, and agree with the photoshop.  More effort could have been put into it to be sure, even using Ash Sroka's face instead.  I still can't shake it as my canon of her face, however.

2. Details; we don't know where she would have taken it or how, and I honestly didn't think too hard about it.  Looks good for the picture; the troubling facts behind it doubtlessly went unmentioned due to the romantic appeal of it and how it would be soured to give Shepard a picture at her own expense when he could look at her whenever they wanted (better yet, take a picture then!).

3. I think everyone can agree with that.

4. Not sure on this one.  The codex/wiki even states that the quarians are the most similar to humans of all the galactic races, and since asari are essentially blue scaled humans with tentacle heads there wasn't much left to do.  If Tali's face were rendered, then the team would be creating a face for her/quarians in general, so there would be uniqueness found there as well in ear shape, facial structure, the eyes, etc.

Keep getting sidetracked from my story; between life, reading and sleeping, there isn't much time for writing.  Still, keeping at it!

1. Agreed. Thats why everybody should do like I do, use Texmod or grab the matching pcc files, open it and insert THIS so it is shown ingame. Its is my canon. I don't even recall the bad standart image BW produced.

2. Its on Rannoch. Quarians can live limited time outside their suit. Of all Quarians, Tali may have one of the best immune systems due to her constant hull breaks in battle and her contact with Shepard. Maybe its not healthy, BUT totally worth it ;)

3. Yes, everyone agrees on that and at least I don't give up the hope for this to still happen.

4. Disagreed. Thats what many claim. Not me. First, shes perfect as she is. I love BWs decision to make her look that human like. Second, If you looked at her face during the first two games, maybe with freecam a little bit or using JeanLucs Highres mod "Tali revised", you were able to notice that Quarians have a very similar face shape to humans. Also, Asari look very similar to this, too. We humans look like we do because our face shape prooved to be the most efficent on earth, it developed and adapted to our environment. This is just a thesis, but Maybe this environment wasn't too different on Asari offspring world and on Rannoch. The similar shape makes sense this way.
Furthermore, it just looks awesome. And to say it again, Im so glad BW didn't decide to take that yellow-eyed tentacle head Tali...

Unfortunatly they didn't put much effort into her face. Yes, she needs mor respect and beyond that, mor TIME (romance scenes). Thats the point that disappoints me. But Im completely satisfied with the outcome or the image or how fans improved it.

Even, still, that image messes with the hue of her hair. The shading transitions around her ear aren't quite right as well. The markings from her eyebrows to her hairline still aren't in the right position as well as the markings on her neck aren't spread out as far as the original. Her nostrils aren't slimmed down, her jawline is still the same as the stock photo and her eyes aren't adjusted like the original photoshop.

I by no means mean any disrespect to you or the author of the edited image, but the attention to detail isn't quite as much as the original picture(besides fixing the hand... I'm not sure how BioWare missed the hand bit...)

Screw the details. it looks better. Any alternative thats hand-fixed, high resoluted and closer to BWs Tali? I don't think so.

EDIT: I just compared the images and watched out for those details. You know the sound of a shattering glass? THANK YOU, Mister Image IPB

Yes i know the quarian face has a human like structure, and i know she has a nose and 2 eyes, like us.  I have no problem with that.  However that doesn't mean Tali's canon face couldn't have been more alien.  For example, the face of the Drell has a structure similar to humans, however is made in a way that still gives the species an alien vibe.  So yes i know Tali's face would be similar to humans, that doesn't mean it should have been TOO similar.

For example, bioware should have given her a non-human color of skin.  She is white, and that just remindes me of a white people we have back at home.  How about don't give her any hair....or an alien version of "hair"

And i have seen plenty of fan art which shows Tali still maintaing a face with a human like structure, but still resembeling an alien.  Not only that, but Bioware seems to have some interesting design on what she looked like in their concept art of her.  So it's not like they didn't have any resources to come up with an idea of a unique face.  So i see the whole "almost human" given to her is because of laziness, the same reason because of the bad photoshop.

But looks like we just have to agree to disagree.   We both have different tastes on what Tali's face should look like.  Though i can see why you would prefer a "human" tali.  And thanks for responding to my rants :)

By the way, what Tentacle head tali are you talking about?

Never been a big fan of seeing straight character being portrayed in a homosexual/bisexual way .  I prefer to see that picture, except with Tali kissing sheploo.
