Here is the problem that i think you have. You believe that Tali MUST be beautiful, and that she MUST be attractive according to human standards. And if she is not.....then she isn't Tali to you, nor does she deserve that name.
But what really makes Tali tali....is her personality. Even if bioware made her look like that pic above, or even worse, say a creature that would look like a fantasy monster (of course Tali can never be a real monster unless her personality changes for the worst, so making her creepy looking doesn't make her a monster), that doesn't mean she isn't Tali and therefore doesn't deserve the name, because her personality would be the same regardless of what she looks like. She can be not beautiful and still have a beautiful name.
Saying Tali is not Tali because you do not like the picture, would be like me saying that the canon picture for Tali is not Tali because i don't like the "almost human" tali. That would be stupid, regardless of my opinions on how Tali would turn out. She would ALWAYS be Tali, no matter how bioware would decide to do her face.
yes! exactly how I feel. why does she have to look like a generic brunette, make her look alien, she's an alien after all

I'd still love her if she was an arachnid with a giant tongue used to lay eggs in the digestive tract of a not necessarily willing host. I just wouldn't let her parasitize me. Because she'd still be my adorkable little quarian.comrade gando wrote...

Well the writers decided she was straight, which makes it fact.
Flawed logic.
I have to agree with Terrorize69 here. I doesn't make Tali straight if she's into male Shep. For all we know, maybe she just doesn't like tough military woman, aka femShep and that's why she's not available for femShep.
They didnt deside tali should die!

Well I wouldn't WANT her to look anything like that, but it wouldn't make me dump her in disgust. Not like some of those fair-weathered talimancers that only 'mance her because they know the canon look is attractive, from a human standpoint.comrade gando wrote...
well that's a little too much excelsis, I'd like alien (as in not even close to looking like a human), but nothing like that jeez. sounds more like an enemy type than a main character.
But my tali does have tendril hair, claws, fangs, multiple eyelids, inhuman eyes and wierd skin. Fun to snuggle.

of course. whichever look bioware makes her, shepard won't be able to say no since she's already been romanced through the series, shep already had sex with her, soooo bioware is in a difficult situation here.
whatever they make her look like ppl are gonna get upset. can't please everyone, but better to ****** some people off but at least put effort into the design than ****** most everyone off with a half-assed...oh you get it...

The answers to all these questions, and more, next week! Which means that they will never be answered fully. Ever.
This half zebra, half donkey thinks that bioware did an eighth-assed job. He would know. He is half assed.

How? Most of us here were captivated by Tali's personality from the beginning, wondering why we couldn't romance her in ME1. Tali becomes our LI in ME2. ME3, we get the photo as a gift.
What kind of "Talimancer" becomes one only after seeing the photo through another Shepard's campaign, concludes "LOL, TALI'S HOT!" and plays through ME2 and ME3 with Tali as a love interest? That is no Talimancer, and certainly none of the people here that support her design followed that path.
I also have to scratch my head at the notion that we romanced Tali for her personality, not her looks, and yet we have some users here that are dissatisfied with Tali's canon appearance. You can like or dislike the design, but to argue that it needs to be changed while saying you like Tali for her personality and not looks is a contradiction in single sentence.

Glad we are decided, Tali always was meant to look human-like, it was decided years ago and we are happy with the proof. Good good, now moving on.
If Tali could eat an apple or an orange, which would she pick?
None, she would die if she did

Tali's is the best for being the most interesting in concept sense the execution of her romance they dropped and skipped on. Her relationship could've been so stellar and unique as her and mshep have the most unique pairing of them all and the one with not just the physical challenges but social, political, and longevity I thought BW would use this couple to really flush out the galaxy and its biases, the Quarians culture, social make up, and political stability along with whats left of the human's culture, social, and political make ups and still put in them being as comforting and supportive as fshep/garrus were if not more so considering she's winning her world back and he's lost his. Why did BW have to drop the ball on this couple?

I don't believe he meant they retroactively became tali-mancers so much as they knew, from Bioware's previous work, and the other aliens in the game...that Tali was almost guarenteed to be attractive to the human eye.
And most posters are dissastisified with Bioware's effort into her looks and less her actual looks.

What could Tali's position be in the quarian society after the Reaper War (provided she returns to Rannoch and Shepard lives and reunites with her) ?
Would she have an important role ?
Something like a minister or would she just be an advisor for Prime Minister Raan ?
Or would she ignore it completely so she can live with Shepard without anyone bothering her ?

I would think, and hope, that she somehow factors highly into the new leadership of the Quarians post-Reapers. Why? Because she is one of the few admirals around who has common sense. They need people like her to keep relations with the Geth smooth and to keep the less bright leaders in check.
I would think she would do it as she wants to help her people and it wouldn't keep her seperated from Shepard. If Shepard survives the end, he would be regarded so highly to be a living legend. Who would say "Sorry, can't keep you from your sexy wife savior of the galaxy." Pffft.
Though I'm totally not against Tali and Shep retiring somewhere tropical with the Normandy in tow.

He specifically said "because they know the canon look is attractive," without any indication that these Talimancers are assuming she would be attractive based on previous BioWare works or other aliens in Mass Effect. Perhaps you are right, but this was not made clear in his post.
Regarding what people are dissatisfied with, I was referring to some users that have made it quite clear their stance on the topic of Tali's face on previous pages. I would argue that most posters here are dissatisfied with BioWare's effort into Tali's reveal. It's one thing to create preliminary sketches that highlight various concepts for the quarian face, and after brainstorming, establish a final design that incorporates elements from said concepts. It's another thing to find a royalty free stock photo, and photoshop the design while lacking attention to detail (length of her neck, structure of her hand, slight asymmetry on her right eye, the lack of her enviro-suit, the details of Rannoch's environment assuming that's where she is, etc). The origin of this photo is left for speculation. To top it all off, no 3D face reveal during the Rannoch arc or romance scene.
As was mentioned, BioWare can't satisfy everyone regarding this topic, as a good number of us already created a headcanon Tali that matches our preferences prior to ME3. To make more people satisfied without disappointing a new batch of fans, at least according to the poll I linked earlier, giving Tali a proper face reveal (with quality time and effort) with a 3D animated model of the canon design would be sufficient.

Yes, what he said was vague. However, I do try to interpret and analyze based on everything else. Which is what led me to said conclusion. I tend to make pretty accurate interpretations between what was actually said and what somebody meant. But, it's all guesswork in the end, and you could be right.
Not disagreeing with you either. Bioware was lazy in their design and execution. To be honest, the matter was never that important to me so short of Tali getting an e-mail send-off like reager nothing was going to bother me. I don't really have a headcanon of her either as I don't have the ability to form mental images. But really, they should have put real effort into it or not put it in at all.

I became a Talimancer the second I started talking to her in 1...but unfortunately she wasn't able to be romanced. Needess to say, I was very happy when you could in ME2.
I'm ashamed to say I only became a Talimancer in ME2.
In ME1 she seemed a bit like a talking codex, and her being weaker in combat meant I didn't take her around to get to know her better. Now of course I know how to use her and always bring her along.

Sigh...what i'd give to be able to play ME1 on the PS3...
