I really didn't like Tali so much in ME1, but she grew on me and she was the one I romanced in my first play through of ME2. I liked the continuation into ME3. I think I would have been disappointed had I romanced anyone else in ME2 (as MaleShep) since Miranda and Jack get relegated to non-crew roles and you only see them a handful of times.
I did not like the conclusion of the romance though, and I think if they were going to show Tali's face, that the last conversation that she has with Shepard would have worked better IMO. She seems pretty confident that they're not going to come back from things alive ("I want more time"). So she could have removed her helmet and shared a kiss with Shepard and shown her face in that final moment.
Though I've youtube'd the MaleShep romances and I think all those final moments, especially for Tali, Miranda and Jack were awkward.
Though on my first playthrough I also didn't know anything about Galactic Readiness so I didn't play multiplayer and got the worst ending and found Tali on the ground dead when running toward the conduit. At the time I was unaware that things could turn out differently, but I was still disappointed that Shepard's LI is laying there dead and doesn't get acknowledged.
I mean if Kai Leng kills Thane and/or Miranda, Shepard can acknowledge it when you kill Kai Leng. You turn around and stab Kai Leng and say "that's for Thane and Miranda you SOB" or something like that. But Tali died and got nothing. And I'd imagine it would be the same for Kaidan, Ashley, Garrus, or Liara as well.
I have to agree with you on how they could have done the final words section of Tali's romance. It would have been much better that way even though I think her words were spot on. They made me tear up because everything felt so final in that moment. If that was her thought process then she should have given him a full on kiss that we as the player got to see. I still want the picture though. I would also have liked for them to allow you to call her up after the act just like in ME2.
I didnt have anyone I knew dead on the ground on my first play through of ME3 since my rating was almost 6000. Having the app on my phone allowed me to keep my GRR at 100% all the time. I never played the multiplayer once. Maybe on my 3rd playthrough I will jump to the end without doing a lot of stuff to see how bad things can really get.
